Video: The totally obligatory “Glenn Beck rubs Obama’s face in Van Jones’s Trutherism” clip

posted at 8:29 pm on September 3, 2009 by Allahpundit

He held off on talking about it until halfway through the show in order to give the White House a chance to respond. They didn’t — but they’re going to. You’d better flush this Truther turd, Barry, or it’ll be a righty talking point every time any liberal opens their mouth to whine about Birtherism or some other form of conservative kookery for the next four years.

Capitalizing on the buzz, Fox has a print piece out tonight recounting Jones’s greatest hits. My favorite bit:

“In this environment, I think the Obama administration should be very careful of its dealings with anybody who can be labeled communist accurately,” said Christopher C. Hull, an adjunct government professor at Georgetown University who runs the public affairs firm Issue Management.

“That’s just going to play to the political sensibility that those on the right have that the Obama administration is socialist, literally socialist. … It is unwise to bring in people who actually do label themselves socialist or communist.”

Yes, let us take care to guard against fueling the crazy wingnut notion, seemingly pulled from thin air, that Obama is soft on radicals whom he thinks “mean well.”

GB starts slow here and remains relatively restrained throughout, but his question near the end is a good one. If you believe Bush was responsible for mass murder of American civilians, why didn’t you flee the country or organize an armed revolt? How casual do you have to be about high treason to prioritize lefty crap like “green jobs” or lowering carbon emissions above seeking justice against the government for killing your countrymen? The answer, I suspect: Most Truthers may not really believe it. It’s a pseudo-intellectual pose, just like Jones’s fondness for communism is. At best, then, he’s a poseur idiot who didn’t have the good sense not to sign his name to a petition at 9/11 Truth. At worst, he’s an even bigger idiot who actually believes the “Loose Change” version of history. Either way, time to go.

I used to think that Beck was nuts. But watching and listening to him these past few weeks has made me change my mind.

Van Jones has given Beck a way to destroy Obama’s credibility without directly attacking Obama because Beck can simply tie Van Jones back to Obama’s campaign statement that the American people should judge Obama by the company he keeps. Moreover, since Beck can pick from several speeches and statements by Van Jones that most Americans would find offensive, Obama cannot get out in front of the story. He is just playing catch up.

For some reason I missed the start up of the issue between Beck and Levin but I have to say that I have heard Beck say things verbatim from web sites and especially Levin’s book with no mention of it. Ego or not, if I worked and researched a book as hard as Levin seemed to, I would be a little torqued as well. And although I love Levin, he does need to let it go. Has Beck even mentioned Liberty and Tyranny by name? He should. Not out of any special respect for Levin but because it’s the right thing to do. Credit your sources.

@JeffinOrlando….we had this discussion the other night. There is only so much you can make different when you are talking about the same exact topic. Did Beck listen to Levin and get a kernel of an idea and run with it, probably. They are two very different men and if anybody is handling this the best it is Beck. Levin needs to freaking get over himself. I love listening to him, but I’m tired of the “but it’s mine” whiny attitude.

The most important thing is this country and how we can get through the next 4 years without a bloody revolution and our Constitution still intact.

As a prof of both Business and Journalism, I can only hope that terryannonline isn’t a journalist. At least, she’s not one of my students! Students learn to analyze subject matter with a good deal more insight and depth. They also reserve judgment, maintain objectivity, and focus on substance. With all due props to Terryann, she doesn’t appear to embrace the basic tenets of the discipline (sadly, virtually none of the MSM does either).

It’s apparent that Terryann objects to Beck’s style as an easy way to dismiss his claims against Obimbo and associates. Perhaps I’m wrong, but that’s my impression.

Just received from my Lt Governor:

From: Lt. Governor Peter Kinder
Sent: Thu 9/3/2009 4:26 PM

Subject: Education Curricula Should Be Decided Locally

Friends,

Over the past few days I have heard from a number of parents who are concerned about President Obama’s planned televised address to elementary school students across the U.S. More concerning however is the White Houses’ unprecedented move in providing curricula for teachers in Missouri classrooms.

Since taking office in January, President Obama’s administration has take steps never before seen by any presidency in the realm of government intervention.

Over the course of the past nine months, we have seen the government take over automobile manufacturers, financial institutions, they have hired and fired corporate executives and are now attempting to take over control of our privately run healthcare system.

Now, we learn that the President will make a televised speech to elementary school students all across the country. And while elected officials often make classroom visits, this may be the first time that the White House has distributed curricula directly to the teachers to accompany the president’s speech.

While I have the utmost respect for the office of the president, and for this president, this public relations tactic has gone too far. The distribution of teaching curricula from the White House to the classroom clearly usurps the authority of our local school boards and school administrators.

We have seen the federal government intervene into our lives in ways that many of us thought we would never see. This is a clear infringement on the rights of our students and those of Missouri parents.

I believe that if parents choose to keep their children at home during this presentation, they should be able to do so without any consequences being imposed upon their children. And if local school districts across Missouri choose not to make this speech mandatory for students, they should not face any penalties from the state or federal government. Parents who are concerned by the president’s school programming should contact their local school administrators to make their voices heard.

It is important to vindicate parental rights, as parents are primarily responsible for their children’s education.

Beck gave Van Jones a cavity search. Found some nasties.

So at best, Mr. Libertarian Glenn Beck has been a libertarian convert for less than a year now. At worst, he will become a Republican state shill at the first opportune moment.

The Dean on September 3, 2009 at 11:05 PM

“Plan B” is we join the democrats in ’11 and split the party fella….

“Conservatism” will save the nation even if the GOP won’t…..

an allaince of the blue dogs, slivering off some moderates, joined by conservatives will drive the donks right and marginalize Frau Botox and by extension Chairman Soetoro.

quite…

they are both rather *ahem* ‘formulaic’….

insert rather obtuse nuance sematic driven exhortation into thread….

RandyinCA from stage left, LarryAnn(in theory) from the “real” stage right….

derail said thread from point(usually a point that is scoring direct hits on the donks)

rinse and repeat…

it is like Hannity and Colmes Kabuki Theatre without any of the sparse sense those two managed….

I doubt Obama believes this… he just wouldn’t mind using it for political gain… same probably goes for VJ.

Bingo….

they used the truthers who were in part agents provactuer for the libertarians to be ensnared into the DNC fold to score political cheap heat with morons against the GOP….

Van screwed up in thinking the M$M would go into full court press mode to save ALL the leftoids who used the theatrics….

the reporting on Van’s weak spin will be a canary in the coal mine for Barry….

if they ask too many pesky questions about Van’s specious dodges then Barry will know the 45% lost him some adulation and he’ll fire up the Greyhound….elseways Van stays.

The Left in General to poor impoverished, ignorant people:

“Oh, you think your life is hard? You think that the gubmint system we built for you isn’t good enough? Well, trust us. Give us more power, and we’ll fight for your rights against those evil conservatives that blew up the levees.”

Like sven pointed out… depends on how VJ gets through this. If somehow Barry’s approval rating goes down a point, the wheels will hit the ground hard.

The bottom line is that Van Jones’ background is scary enough by itself, the Troofer stuff is just icing on the cake. If he debunks the troofer part so what.

He is still an ecoMarxist. His other commie activities alone should disqualify him.

Yeah but he’s a different cat now…

He’s had his bad day….

the donks were thinking his faked 61% would last forever….blue dogs may be liars about how conservative they are but luckily they are cowards who want off the 45% train as soon as possible…

Chairman Soetoro is down but not out….time to redouble the efforts and nueter him by Xmas.

“That’s just going to play to the political sensibility that those on the right have that the Obama administration is socialist, literally socialist. … It is unwise to bring in people who actually do label themselves socialist or communist.”

Isn’t it a bit late for that? In addition to Van Jones, there’s Hilda Solis, and Carol Browner – just off the top of my head.

More fun fodder here from Trevor Loudon (who is clearly a source for much of Glenn Beck’s material).

You are not wrong and it isn’t just Mr. Beck. Any use of hyperbole, exaggeration or the occasional sexually tinged or juvenile (I repeat myself) quip by any politician or pundit immediately negates the subject for terryannonline.

Cindy Munford on September 3, 2009 at 11:34 PM

For some reason I missed the start up of the issue between Beck and Levin but I have to say that I have heard Beck say things verbatim from web sites and especially Levin’s book with no mention of it. Ego or not, if I worked and researched a book as hard as Levin seemed to, I would be a little torqued as well. And although I love Levin, he does need to let it go. Has Beck even mentioned Liberty and Tyranny by name? He should. Not out of any special respect for Levin but because it’s the right thing to do. Credit your sources.

JeffinOrlando on September 3, 2009 at 10:46 PM

I agree totally, I love Levin and the right is very lucky to have him, but this Beck thing is just petty.
Beck is effective(I watch him very little and I agree with the criticisms) but Beck is making a serious dent here and Levin does not need to be sniping from the right like Frum does from the left.\
We get it, we know Levin is an intellectual heayweight and so does the left(that is why they ignore him). He has nothing to prove to us.

kangjie on September 3, 2009 at 11:39 PM

Not only will they protect this communist maggot, they’ll make him vice-president after Biden is disposed of. Just to spit in your face. Right after the crisis that’s coming. The crisis they’re going to capitalize on. The crisis they’ve designed everything in prepration for. The crisis that is the only occurrence that will save this presidency. That’s who our president is.

Griz on September 3, 2009 at 11:40 PM

kangjie on September 3, 2009 at 11:39 PM

People should email Mr. Levine and tell him there can’t be too many pundits on the Right and that all of them bring different talents and people to the table.
