Unbelievable: Van Jones says 9/11 petition didn’t reflect his views; Update: Jones didn’t “carefully review” petition

posted at 9:59 pm on September 3, 2009 by Allahpundit

Note well: He doesn’t deny that he signed it. He denies that he agrees with it. Which means, I guess, that he’s asking us to create a new standard for public officials by which documents that bear their signature should no longer be used against them.

Imagine the contempt you’d need to have for the intelligence of your audience to try a non-defense like this:

In a statement issued Thursday evening Jones said of “the petition that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever.”

He did not explain how his name came to be on the petition.

“My work at the Council on Environmental Quality is entirely focused on one goal: building clean energy incentives which create 21st century jobs that improve energy efficiency and use renewable resources,” Jones said in his statement tonight.

Jones also said in his statement that “In recent days some in the news media have reported on past statements I made before I joined the administration – some of which were made years ago. If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize.”

That’s the second apology he’s made in two days; at this rate, it’d be faster and easier to issue a statement retracting everything he ever said in his life prior to being hired by Obama. As for the non-denial denial, remember that the Washington Times already contacted 9/11 Truth this morning to ask them if Jones’s name could have ended up on the petition mistakenly. The response:

9/11Truth.org spokesman Mike Berger told the Washington Times over the phone that all of the signers had been verified by their group. He said 9/11Truth.org board members “spoke with each person on the list by phone or through email or individually confirm they hae added their name to that list.”

“I think in most cases they spoke to them personally,” he added. “No one’s name was put on that list without them knowing it.”

Three possibilities. One: The Truthers are lying and simply added names of activists like Jones who, um, no one had ever heard of when the petition was circulated in 2004. If that’s true, it’s curious that people like Ed Asner and Janeane Garofalo, whose names are also on there, apparently haven’t objected in the five years since. Two: As I said in the Beck post, maybe Jones doesn’t actually believe the theory but signed on for the sheer romantic rebel pseudo-intellectual glory of it. In that case, we’re in the same situation as we were with Ron Paul when he denied having written the racist crap in those old Ron Paul newsletters: Even if he’s telling the truth, the fact that he approved it proves he’s either too stupid or careless to be trusted with power. Or three: Jones is lying. Unless the correct answer is number one — and it’s mighty curious that Jones isn’t saying it is — then he’s got to go. Pull the trap door, Barry.

Update: Krauthammer, Mara Liasson, and Steve Hayes all think he’ll be gone by Monday. And that was before he put out this statement. He must want that czar job awfully bad, though, to put The One through this PR trip, which has now reached Tapper at ABC News and is bound to spread tomorrow.

Update: The spin gets lamer. I say again: Unbelievable.

I’M WONDERING HOW MUCH PUBLIC OUTRAGE NEEDS TO BE DISPLAYED BEFORE ZERO GETS THE POINT THAT THE MAJORITY OF AMERICANS DON’T WANT TO LIVE UNDER SOCIALIST, COMMUNIST OR FASCIST RULE?

THE GUY IS A NARCISSIST. IT MAY TAKE ALOT MORE!

ANSWER:

The Messiah could care less about “public outrage”. The public is not part of his agenda. Read The Shadow Party: How George Soros, Hillary Clinton and Sixties Radicals Seized Control of the Democratic Party and you will realize that Obama’s ascension to power is only the first step to a complete takeover of the American government by Marxists. I am not privy to what ideas are brainstormed in the Obama war room but I have a pretty good idea, and none of them involve catering to the desire of the majority of the American people. Here are some of the ideas I surmise are being thrown around now:

1)How do we get rid of Sarah Palin permanently?

2)How, when and for what reason does Obama declare martial law in America and set in motion the process to round up any dissenters?

3)How do we put Fox News and right-wing talk radio out of business?

4)How do we facilitate the total enslavement of the American people while millions of Americans own guns under the 2nd Amendment?

5)Pertaining to #4 how do we take their guns away from them or neutralize their use (banning certain caliber of bullets for example)

6)How do we use the Cloward-Piven strategy to drive a final nail into the coffin of American capitalism and free markets?

7)How do we ensure that we will win the 2010 midterms? Do we even allow elections to be held in Nov 2010? See #2

8)How do we get around the 22nd Amendment and make Obama president for life?

9)How can we keep the MSM on board with their propaganda while we are depriving Americans of their rights to free speech and freedom of assembly?

10)How do we set about holding a Consitutional convention so that the Constitution can be completely rewritten with Obama having a front row seat as the changes are being made?

SpiritK9, you have to realize Obama and his thugs are not playing by the Marquis de Queensbury rules of politics. They are determined not to let 40 years of Far Left planning to take over the American government to go for nought, and especially they will not allow a hockey mom from Wasilla Alaska to thwart their dreams of a permanent communist Utopian state of America.

Unlike Treasury Secretaries or Chairmen of the House Ways & Means Committee who sign tax returns that later have to be, ah, amended.

a source says Jones did not carefully review the language in the petition before agreeing to add his name.

With this administration, that’s not a bug, it’s a feature. After all, why have Congress read $787 billion porkulus bills or fundamental health care bills.

The only thing to save us from this administration’s malevolence is its incompetence.

It is maddening that people cannot see the plain truth when it comes to figuring out what has happened here. When we consider Obama’s history and look at the campaign and the Jones case, only one conclusion is possible. Consider:

Obama claimed in his book that he found he could disarm white people by being soft spoken and courteous despite his traveling in radical circles. He has used that tactic all during his campaign and presidency.

All Obama’s associations and many appointments are very radical people but his tactic of posing as a very rational and soft spoken person does exactly what he did in his radical youth. It has masked his true self.

His adviser Jarrett says on the video that Obama had been watching Van Jones for years and decided to bring him into the administration. Obviously, this is the type of person and ideas Obama desired. It fits like a glove with his history.

Obama is all the radical he always has been. He believes everything Jones and Reverend Wright vomits up. And always has. Everything in Obama’s past fits right in with what we are seeing now.

There were those of us who used past history to make our decision on Obama. Then there were the “useful idiots” so common in propping up a demagogue. We have elected a Trojan Horse. And we are truly in deep, deep trouble.

My bad-her accident was about 10 years before she met and married Chimpy.

Unfortunately for simple343, Laura Bush’s approval ratings are among the highest Gallup has ever measured-better than Mrs. Bill Clinton, and even better than Eleanor Roosevelt.

Gallup has asked the public to evaluate most of the first ladies at least one time during their tenures in the White House. In general, Americans give positive marks to first ladies, but Laura Bush’s scores are among the best Gallup has measured.

For example, Hillary Rodham Clinton averaged a 64% approval rating while she was first lady, ranging from a low of 54% in January 1995, to a high of 80% in February 1999.

Other first ladies’ approval ratings tended to be in the 50% range; these lower ratings were due in part to the fact that many Americans did not have opinions of first ladies when asked to rate them. Nancy Reagan had a 53% approval rating in May 1988, with 31% disapproving and 16% having no opinion. In April 1987, and December 1981, her approval ratings were 58% and 57%, respectively. Rosalynn Carter had a 59% approval rating the one time she was rated in August 1979. Pat Nixon had a 54% approval rating in a June 1969, poll. Gallup also asked about Eleanor Roosevelt twice during Franklin Roosevelt’s administration. She received a 67% approval rating in 1938, and a 68% rating in 1940.

Del Dolemonte on September 4, 2009 at 9:41 AM

None, and I mean NONE, of the signers of the Truther petition ever took any of its questions seriously. They are all self-styled shrewd political operatives who used this document to bring thousands more into the fold of BUSH HATERS.
These radical Leftists always sought retribution for the Clinton impeachment, and they were determined to obtain equal treatment for Bush. They knew that it would take a shitstorm of lies to do it, and that’s exactly what they stirred up.

Obama himself was involved, as was at least 80% of the entire Democrat Party, so that’s why the Obama administration will have such a difficult time taking any action against Van Jones.

from Washtimes

President Obama’s “green jobs czar” Van Jones has been targeted again and again by conservatives for his controversial views and now they’ll have another item to use as fodder.

Mr. Jones signed a statement for 911Truth.org in 2004 demanding an investigation into what the Bush Administration may have done that “deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war.”

His name is listed with 99 other prominent signatories supporting such an investigation on the 911Truth.org website, including Code Pink co-founders Medea Benjamin and Jodi Evans, comedienne Janeane Garofalo, Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia and others. He’s identified as the executive director for the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights on the statement, which he founded before going to the White House. The statement is available here. Mr. Jones is number 46.

Van Jones put himself in notorious company. Barack Obama is now associated with those people via proxy.

The police acted stupidly.

Is there anything more poetic than a self avowed commie getting flogged with his own words and actions?

Amanda Carpenter updated her blog, saying that the WH referred her to the Trufer apology expressed yesterday to cover the new Trufer revelation today.

How many more of these have to pop up before the administration (or Jones himself) can’t really say he wasn’t into the movement?

Well, I kind of had a feeling Alex Jones and his crew would come after the false left-right paradigm (some on this board) re: Van Jones and 9/11.

CASE IN POINT!

From this article…

Citing the fact that Obama’s green jobs czar Van Jones, who is increasingly and justifiably coming under fire from conservatives in light of his Communist rhetoric and his socialist ideals, signed a petition in 2004 calling for a proper investigation into whether the U.S. government allowed 9/11 to happen, Beck and others have used the “9/11 truther” label as a smear with which to further attack Van Jones’ credibility.

During his show yesterday, Beck tied Van Jones’ advocacy for 9/11 truth to his “radical, progressive and Communist nonsense” and implied that questions about 9/11 truth were held only by a small minority of mainly leftist Hollywood personalities.

However, despite efforts to portray people with questions about 9/11 as some kind of lunatic fringe minority, numerous polls in the years since the attacks manifestly prove that a majority of Americans share doubts and questions about the 9/11 attacks. Those people include former presidents and respected intelligence veterans, not merely leftist progressives as Beck insinuates.

The Parliament of Japan, the former President of Italy, and widely-respected CIA veteran Robert Baer have all questioned the official story behind 9/11.

Since the attacks, a top former member of Tony Blair’s cabinet, Germany’s Secretary of Defense and the founder of Reagonomics have all slammed the official story – along with a cacophony of former government, military, intelligence and political professionals.

Any questions?

Anyone notice the MSM doesn’t have anything on their websites about Van Jones? Was probably mandated by Obama.

Keep going HotAir, Beck, Michelle and all others! Keep pushing out the truth and we’re 100% behind you, the MSM can not hide forever.

Especially media owned by foreigners like Fox (Murdoch and Saudi Prince Al Waleed) and fascists like NBC/MSNBC (Jeff Immelt).

Byron York did a lexis nexis search on Van Jones’ scandal–Troofergate–Commiegate–Czargate, whatever you wanna call it.

He found the sum total of times it has appeared in NYT, Wapo, CBS/NBC/ABC evening news was a whopping total of 0……..

When will you and Glenn Beck understand that Obama’s friends in the media ARE commies and troofers themselves?

jay12 on September 4, 2009 at 12:20 PM

from Tapper’s story in the Headlines

An administration source said Jones says he did not carefully review the language in the petition before agreeing to add his name. But this morning it became known that Jones was on the organizing committee of a 2002 march making similar insinuations and allegations.

This statement from the Administration makes it perfectly clear that Jones did sign the petition.

Don’t let the bus hit you in the keester on the way out, Van.

Now let’s ask Valarie Jarrett why she and Mr. Obama have ‘been watching him for years’ and are so thrilled that he agreed to join the Administration.

Don’t know if this is posted yet, but it is from Drudge.

Turns out Van Jones organized a protest march in support of a convicted cop killer – and the march was timed to disrupt a community outreach program by the local police department.

Nice. Marching in support of a cop killer, playing the race card. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/1999/10/09/MN91787.DTL

I will repeat again: Ralph Nader’s name is on the very same list, and I doubt any of you, including Krauthammer, would call him a Truther.

Still, it shows Van Jones, at least, is careless in what kind of things he supports and puts his name to.
