Obamateurism of the Day

posted at 8:05 am on September 2, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

It’s been Barack Obama’s key legislative goal.  Congress has been working on it for the last five months.  Obama himself has gone on media campaigns and held prime-time press conferences pushing it.

And only now does Obama think to tell Congress what ObamaCare should do?

President Barack Obama, increasingly impatient with Senate negotiations over health care, is weighing a plan to offer more details of his goals for overhauling the nation’s health system, the White House said Tuesday.

The president is considering a speech in the next week or so in which he would be “more prescriptive” about what he feels Congress must include in a bill, top adviser David Axelrod said in an interview. The speech might occur before the Sept. 15 deadline that was given to Senate negotiators to seek a bipartisan bill, said Axelrod, who suggested that two key Republicans have not bargained in good faith.

Wait — this is priceless.  Obama waited five months to finally divulge his demands for ObamaCare, and Axelrod says Republicans have bargained in bad faith?  Maybe Axelrod would do better to tell his boss to stop outsourcing his work to Pelosi, Reid, & Co. and start getting to work a little sooner — perhaps in the next month or two.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

So, Obama didn’t want the ObamaCare version that he was pushing through late July and early August? But he does want the version he’ll be pushing through September.

For how long will he want that version before he disavows it and demands yet another version?

myrenovations on September 2, 2009 at 8:10 AM

So the previous five months have been nothing more than a very visible, very long trial balloon and only now are the democrats seriously considering what legislation to pass?

The president is considering a speech in the next week or so in which he would be “more prescriptive” about what he feels Congress must include in a bill, top adviser David Axelrod said in an interview.

So, Barry is just considering whether there should be a public option spelling out his real plans for health care reform. However, Barry might decide to still keep his real plans secret.

Dear God, thank you for giving us the most transparent president since Honest Abe.

This is news? How many speeches in prime time has this bastard made in the last five months? How many town halls? How many photo-ops? The filthy liar is as bad as Schumer when it comes to wanting the constant glare of the television cameras. He never has anything to say but he gets his ego fix and for selfish bastards like Obama, that’s all that matters.

Basically all BO has is an pie in the sky theory. He waited for the dem leadership in house and senate to come up with the “plan”. Now, that it has failed miserably, he wants to come in with a more prescriptive “idea” of what health care reform should look like?

So, what has he been lecturing us serfs on these past two months? What a idiot!

Obama “Leadership” : Hold a finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. Demand Congress hold their fingers in the air as well. Consensus. Take credit. Affix blame if not successful.

Real Leadership : Leading from the front, telling the people you will lead them into hell and back, and have them look forward to the trip.

Anyone notice that none of this Obamacare has any Obama signature anywhere near it?

Cap and Tax, any of it…no Obama signature nor writing nor any paper trail back to Obama on any of it…until Congress passes it and sends it up Pennsylvania Avenue.

Leading from the rear is what got a lot of people killed over the centuries…Obama not trying to lead at all at this point would be a godsend.

Obama can’t be blamed for NOT stating his goals if they aren’t written out for him on TOTUS

Jeff from WI on September 2, 2009 at 8:18 AM

“His goal is to create the best possible situation for consumers, create competition and choice,” Axelrod said. “We want to bring a measure of security to people who have health insurance today. We want to help those who don’t have coverage today, because they can’t afford it, get insurance they can afford. And we want to do it in a way that reduces the overall cost of the system as a whole.” link

WARNING!—beware of any government official that makes the statement, “we want to help”. 99% of the time you can replace the word help with “tax you”, and have a correct prognosis/outcome.

jbh45 on September 2, 2009 at 8:14 AM

He’s been selling his mythical plan where you can increase the number of those covered, increase the amount of services provided to all, with greater portablilty, greater choice in doctors, and without it costing a single cent more than the current system. The filthy liar in the White House was leaving it up to Congress to come up with the actual plan to do all that. They obviously cannot come up with such a plan but, now, its all the fault of those partisan Republicans, town hall thugs, and evil insurance companies.

So champ, does that mean you will insist the current House bills be scrapped? As long as those bills are left intact, items in them that may be not be aligned with your new vision of reform will be part of a conference committee. The only path forward for you is to hit the reset button, insist the current House bills be shredded, and approach this whole process from a fresh start. Anything less will be perceived as a con job. In addition, bring specifics, not generalities.

Listen,

Obama didn’t come out with his own plan because then he would be held accountable for it. His letting Pelosi and Reid draw up their evil machinations meant that he could claim it wasn’t his, that it was the best he could get thereby allowing him to put the blame on someone else. Remember It’s all Bush’s fault; I inherited it; the economy was worse than we thought; jihad is a result of others not communicating correctly. (Not verbatim but the gist of what he has said)

The man boy has not learned to accept responsibility. Instead he only wants to glow in the light of acclaims from other’s work and dreads daylight shining on his work, (what little of it there is) because it is at best vacuous.

If at this late date and endless debate Sheik Abu Barack al-Husseini ibn Obooba is just beginning to consider telling congress what he wants in the plan, and his plan of action is to consider whether or not to make a speech about it, it’s safe to say that he is the very personification of “effete.”

His problem is that he’s been selling a plan that doesn’t exist in any substantive form. It is still in the stage where everything is included but the funding hasn’t been figured out to the point that things start getting cut. The filthy liar has hedged his bets on the public option but he’s on the record as supporting a plan that is impossible to acheive without either raising the deficit even higher into the stratosphere or cutting people’s health benefits.

THe MSM told us this administration was the smartest ever, but rational people know this is far from the truth. I have seen nothing but mistake upon mistake. This “news” is just a continuation of a series of huge errors.

Sure, go on television on prime time–everybody is SICK of seeing you on television. Give the American public details NOW after trying to convince us this had to be done yesterday–yeah, that builds trust.

Look folks, their bumbling incompetence is on full display. (Bundle in the political appeal to school children and the full impact of the timing, and the amateurism could not be more exquisite.)

I agree with Napolean Bonaparte: Never interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake.

Does it really matter what this President says to the American public in an effort to sell this Health Care bill? Is there anyone left in the country with any sense, that believes one friggen word that passes his lips? The charade is over, the MSM is starting to back off their Obamasexual tendencies and this bill is done like dinner. Even if he attempts to abandon the public option as POLITICO suggests, he’s lost credibility with Americans, including many Dems and most centrists. Its over.

OBAMA: “Maybe I should write my own bill. How do I do that exactly?”

RAHM: “Here Mr. Present, I mean President. Let’s start by using a Black Crayon instead of that Fucia color.”

PappaMac on September 2, 2009 at 10:12 AM

His monthly bill for Preparation H must be astronomical and he must have the a mega case of hemorrhoids from all of the stuff he pulls out of his ass.

Pelosi, Reid, Baucus, Waxman are all mind readers. They knew what he wanted

Herb on September 2, 2009 at 10:22 AM

Sarah Palin called this one a year ago: “This is the same man who has authored two memoirs but not a single piece of legislation.” Did anyone really think that “Hope and change” would mean that we could hope that Obama would change and learn to actually legislate or lead?

Roxeanne de Luca on September 2, 2009 at 10:35 AM

but here is what bambi has done wrong: he’s left Congress on the hook for this. many Dem Congressmen will lose their jobs next year because of bambi. i would think the dems in Congress would be hating him now.

The only reason he’s having to “consider” letting us all in on his plans for health care is because of the resistance at the town halls. Public opinion is dead-set against this boondoggle of a plan, and we all know whose fault that is. We’re just not the Americans that Obama thought he knew.

Left Coast Right Mind on September 2, 2009 at 10:45 AM

Maybe Axelrod would do better to tell his boss to stop outsourcing his work to Pelosi, Reid, & Co. and start getting to work a little sooner — perhaps in the next month or two.

But . . . but . . . that might cut into his vacation schedule, disrupt his golf time, and reduce his mirror-gazing.

Man’s gotta have his priorities, and we know hard work is not one of Barry’s.

“This is not the health care bill I knew.”

Someone had to.

How are they ever going to come home to roost if they can’t see where they’re going?

UltimateBob on September 2, 2009 at 11:26 AM

Axelrod says Obama needs to make a speech that will clarify what Obama wants to be included in Obamacare and Dodd wants Obama to reframe the debate on Obamacare. What did Obama want these guys to pass before the August 7 recess if we (including congress) STILL do not know what Obama really wants (or needs)?

jerseyman on September 2, 2009 at 11:46 AM

Obama must be getting desperate. The One does not normally commit His thoughts to paper where they can be examined and debated by the masses.

I’ve always enjoyed the MSM and Obama talking about ‘his health care plan’. As if it actually existed anywhere other than in his head. Just like all His other ‘accomplishments’.
