Video: Glenn Beck screams about Van Jones and Obama

posted at 7:13 pm on September 1, 2009 by Allahpundit

Very frequently, I don’t understand where his manic exasperation’s coming from. But sometimes, I do.

First clip is the money bit from today’s 20-minute long harangue about Jones. The second clip is Jones himself from an appearance in February at Berkeley. There are all kinds of bon mots in the mix if you can spare the time to watch — Republicans are “assholes,” evidently — but if you can’t spare it, skip ahead until there’s about 30 seconds left.

Mr. Beck said that the only thing the White House has taken exception to is that Mr. Jones is not a “czar” but is a mid level government employee. I guess the boycott attempts are the behind the scenes retaliation.

Although I do recognize and appreciate GB’s investigative tenacity, honesty, and exposition, I must confess that his histrionics just make me shake my head. There’s no doubt he has courage, but I keep wondering when his head is going to explode.

Gang-of-One on September 1, 2009 at 7:36 PM

I have similar thoughts. GB has uncovered a lot of bad, bad things about the President’s advisors. But I worry that GB’s histrionics make it easier for the President’s supporters to just dismiss the claims by saying, “oh, come on, look at him, Beck’s just a nut,” without ever addressing the claims’ actual substance.

It’s like Americans are so used to ignoring and glossing over what people say in Europe and the Middle East that it’s become second nature for us to do it when these same things are being said here.

Allahpundit on September 1, 2009 at 7:29 PM

Oh stop whining yourself. “He’s a manic broken clock” is hardly taking Beck’s side, and you didn’t take Palin’s side in the other story because she didn’t have a side; you took CLSA’s side.

Pelayo on September 1, 2009 at 8:17 PM

I don’t see anything manic about it.

At the highest level, including the president, the government is filled with radicals who want to throw away what we and our ancestors built over 300 years, and replace it with a nutty philosophy that has NEVER succeeded.

It’s insanity.

What rational person wouldn’t be alarmed.

Van Jones has been leading the “activist” circles in Oakland, Berkeley & around. He is a plain & simple anti-cop anti- white hatemonger. Now he has the national stage. Most of his activities which were extolled on local websites a few years ago, are now been scrubbed out. I wish I could link them but they are all gone.
He always dresses in sharp and shiny business suits and his worshippers are the first to point that about him.
His appeal has always been to criminal and criminally inclined ppl of color, wherever they are.

macncheez on September 1, 2009 at 8:19 PM

More on topic – that was quite a pit of vipers there for Van Jones’ “speech.”

I especially liked his call for people other than the President to “get ugly.” Too late.

Maybe instead of the GOP trying to get the elderly vote through Medicrap they should talk more about communism. “How is that capitalism working for you this year?” – Van Jones

This should be the headline in every newscast, and every newspaper across this land. But, we know it won’t, because most every newscast of the MSM, and every newspaper are also Marxists, like this guy.

The only way we are going to turn the tide on this thing is get this information out to the public by means other than the MSM – and I don’t mean talk radio and the internet!

I mean purchasing air time on the major networks, purchasing space in the major newspapers, and when they refuse to print, or air our message, call press conference after press conference to expose the left-wing bias that is censoring free speech in this country.

I know, that takes money, but there are wealthy conservatives willing to contribute to the cause, isn’t there … well, isn’t there?

bridgetown on September 1, 2009 at 8:30 PM

I think the computer voice thing was a feeble attempt at doing something as cool as those anti-Scientology videos by “Anonymous” awhile back. Unfortunately though, team Glenn’s choice of robo voices (as well as that dreadful “funky rock” music bed) completely short circuited what could have been a much more compelling (and ominous) piece.

That said, with proper tweaks, I think the “Anonymous” style could be a very effective tool in getting the anti-socialist message out. This is a diabolical “brave new world” they are attempting to birth. It’s time they sounded as robotic as their policies would have us become.

These are emboldened individuals, who, despite their ivory towered educations, are not terribly smart. They live in echo chambers of their own narrow constituencies, and are simply unaccustomed to having to keep their mouths shut.

Whether it’s Van Jones’ anti-capitalist Berkeley speeches this past spring, or more recently, the NEA putting out the “bat signal” to their willing army of Riefenstahls, these people are way too pompous to keep a lid on. And besides, you can’t become the new Che’ unless everyone knows what a badass you are.

This should be the headline in every newscast, and every newspaper across this land. But, we know it won’t, because most every newscast of the MSM, and every newspaper are also Marxists, like this guy.

One problem is that many people have the attention span this guy clearly assumes his audience does, and that if an economic system doesn’t work as well as it did the year before, why not “fix it”? I suppose it’s the logical conclusion of a people raised on music videos, videos games, and the Internet, but I’d like to think the younger generation is not that dumb (or, if they are, they realize that Barack Obama and the Democrats are not working as well for them in 2009 as they did in 2008).

AP used emasculating language on GB. Period. Any questions?

baldilocks on September 1, 2009 at 8:55 PM

blankminde on September 1, 2009 at 8:53 PM

I don’t have one. It’s an opinion based on reading AP’s other posts about Beck and reading posts in which other men are angry about a person/topic. With others, AP uses phrase like “goes nuclear, that is, “Glenn Beck goes nuclear on Van Jones and Obama.” Masculine language.

baldilocks on September 1, 2009 at 8:59 PM

No, Beck, we don’t need a bunch of foreigners (legal or otherwise) to come herein droves to do jobs we’re “too lazy” to do ourselves. That’s a lie right out of liberal hell.

You’re right about the youth being sympathetic towards communism, but I don’t think it is because communism has somehow become relevant. Poor education is more likely the cause. None of this would be an issue though if the GOP were articulating the fundamental attributes of conservatism and publicly thrashing the flaws of collectivist political ideologies.

No shit, I think AP has a little Charles Johnson in him.

RarestRX on September 1, 2009 at 7:58 PM

I think he has a lot of Charles Johnson in him. He’s just better at concealing it than the loudmouth CJ.

2Brave2Bscared on September 1, 2009 at 9:19 PM

Aiyiyi. Beck’s delivery style is histrionic. Yeah. So what? His verbal style isn’t germane. His focus on Obimbo’s czar appointees is what’s significant.

Beck and his staffers have performed some preliminary research, and unearthed data that suggests virtually all of Obimbo’s hires are entrenched in a Marxist belief system. Really? No kidding. None of this is remotely surprising, given Obimbo’s ties to other nefarious characters discovered during the ‘08 election. What’s surprising is that the messenger (Beck) appears to be a bigger issue than the message he’s courageous enough to convey. Would the message be any more or less true if some mind-numbing, haughty little pundit delivered it instead? At least Beck is entertaining.

anXdem on September 1, 2009 at 9:21 PM

In case there is any doubt. This is from Bill Ayers and Jeff Jones, of the Weather Underground

PRAIRIE FIRE is written to communist-minded people,
independent organizers and anti-imperialists;

We are a guerrilla organization. We are communist women and men, underground in the United States.

Our intention is to disrupt the empire … to incapacitate it, to put pressure on the cracks, to make it hard to carry out its bloody functioning against the people of the world, to join the world struggle, to attack from the inside.

Our intention is to engage the enemy … to wear away at him, to harass him, to isolate him, to expose every weakness, to pounce, to reveal his vulnerability.

Our intention is to forge an underground … a clandestine political organization engaged in every form of struggle, protected from the eyes and weapons of the state, a base against repression, to accumulate lessons, experience and constant practice, a base from which to attack.

It cant be more clear than this.

faraway on September 1, 2009 at 9:28 PM

The point is that you were claiming legitimacy through pointing out your history here.

Nope! That wasn’t the reason for pointing that out. As a matter of fact, the length of time here wasn’t even the issue.

I was claiming that I didn’t need to “find a reason” to criticize AP, as you said and, as proof that I didn’t need to do something so childish as “find a reason” to criticize someone, I pointed out that I had defended Teh Good AllahPundit before, more than once. And in order to do that, I had to mention that I’ve “known” him a long time in Internet years.

I am aware of it.

Well that’s nice but it’s irrelevant.

I disagree that Allah was trying to snipe at Beck through language, and submit that he was actually agreeing with him.

blankminde on September 1, 2009 at 9:13 PM

Okay and you may be correct but there was no reason for you to to imagine that I need to “make up reasons” to say things when doing it. You didn’t even have to make this about me. But since you did, I will defend myself. As they say my environs, don’t start none, won’t be none.

OT: Does anyone remember the name of the black pastor from Texas that was on Glenn’s show yesterday? How about the name of his organization?

joshlbetts on September 1, 2009 at 9:30 PM

If Allah was not afraid, he would not have to begin this post with:

“Glenn Beck screams”

“Very frequently, I don’t understand where his manic exasperation’s coming from.”

Glenn is trying to tell you, and all of us, that we don’t have to be afraid anymore.

faraway on September 1, 2009 at 9:31 PM

I have tremendous respect for what Glenn Beck is trying to do, and I’m sure it’s taking a toll on his whole family. I thought today’s show was startling and eye-opening.

ElainaVer on September 1, 2009 at 9:31 PM

Why are the Republicans quiet? Are they complicit? If they aren’t then they need to say so.

Kjeil on September 1, 2009 at 9:10 PM

That really is a show of cowardliness in the face of an issue this important.

Beck is “dramatic”, because he realizes what is actually going on and dumbfounded that he is the only one on duty.
There is a bloodless coup happening in front of your eyes…and some people think that is some schtick??..

The passivity and willful blindness that is being shown to be the norm in far too many peoples world view and understanding of the implications of this, just absolutly amazes me. Its like telling someone their house is on fire and being met by the idiot in the recliner saying “Dude…calm down..why so dramatic?..chill out man…want a beer?”
Its just unfukinbelievable.

The reason I asked is because my stepdad is a pastor and he and the gentleman on Glenn’s show have much the same mission: to confront Christian clergy who are black about abortion and about the pro-abortionist president many of them openly support.

Yeah, I don’t hear any screaming. He does raise his voice, which I guess doesn’t make as compelling a headline.

Jim Treacher on September 1, 2009 at 9:41 PM

Well… I’ll be forever grateful for Charles opening my eyes to the MSM. He’s a legend, so give him credit. It just seems like LOTR’s where the king has become possessed. Sad, really.

Yes, because you just see people being banned left and right for disagreeing with AP.

…if AP were like CJ, most of the people here, including you, wouldn’t be able to post anymore.

baldilocks on September 1, 2009 at 9:28 PM

I really wasn’t making a personal argument, but in review my tone was a little aggressive. I saw in your comment a dissecting of Allah’s language to isolate a term you disagreed with. The left does this to us constantly and I read your post as a re-framing of this trick. Since we get flayed on a regular basis in the media for nonsensical misrepresentations of our ideas I guess that is what I saw.

We can at least agree that Allah was passive-aggressive here, as he almost always is when talking about Beck.

Most of the GOP are spineless weasels.
Talk a big game and then do nothing.

I think Beck would gain more “credibility” if he would tone down his schtick. But I applaud what he is doing…exposing these fools for what they are.

The next step is getting the GOP to pick up this movement.
