If we don’t stand together against this garbage, we will surely fall.

The consensus seems to be that we have a collection of Fools on the Hill.

Well, if the GOP thinks it’s a good idea to let John McCain and Orin Hatch represent the Republican POV on Sunday talk shows, then the fools on the hill are fooling themselves.

Mealy-mouth, fuzzy bipartisanship is not going to do them one bit of good. If the Republicans can’t demonstrate that they are different, principled, smart and possess a definite alternative, they’ll be ousted by the same ratios that Dems will be, come 2010. It will be a “throw the bums out” year to remember.

And more interestingly, what if his handlers and puppeteers decide he is becoming a liability to their agenda? What do they do? What can they do? They have, after all, made him the most powerful man on that planet…

I was frankly shocked a request wasn’t made at Mission church to cover all crucifixes, statues, stain glassed windows, or anything remotely connected to images of Christ, or saints, or the Virgin Mary. Obama doesn’t seem to comfy speaking whilst religous articles are in view.

I’m torn on term limits. The last thing I want is a permanent corps of Congressional staffers running things.
What I would do, though, is say that no lawmaker may serve as chairman or ranking minority member of a committee — any committee — for more than four years in the House and six years in the Senate. And no person may serve as Speaker for more than six years. After that, they’re in the rank-and-file.

What they really ought to do is get rid of staffers altogether. Congress/government should be small enough to leave us all alone, and if what they are doing takes too much time then they shouldn’t be doing it. Make the reps/senators do the actual work of legislating instead of fundraising/campaigning. Make the bills shorter and write and read them themselves.
