Poll: What was the Obamateurism of the Week?

posted at 10:54 am on August 30, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

With Barack Obama on vacation this week, I suspected we may not have much material — but I needn’t have gotten all wee-wee’d up after all.  We’d pray for more material, but that might seem a little two-faced, which fortunately is an ongoing theme in this administration.  Have I forgotten to mention anything, besides the $2,000,000,000,000 mistake on Obama’s deficit projections?  Nothing Obama himself didn’t omit.

Be sure to choose your favorite, and keep checking back to see which one’s winning.  Anyone who gets wee-wee’d up about the results should vent in the comments, of course.

Previous “winners”, now with links:

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.

At what point is congress going to throw Obama under the bus to save their own hide’s? Or are they so arrogant as to think these poll numbers apply to other congressmen not to them. I’m willing to bet in the short term it is the latter.

Did Obama satisfy the language requirement at Columbia with Arabic? I’ve never heard him speak another language (although I do know he was able to recite passages from the Koran, perhaps from memory)but I’m sure he must have been required to know one. So which one(s) is it?

I picked the irony of Medicare. I have a friend who thinks it will be just fine because all the baby boomers are dying off. Seriously it is so depressing what the average citizen believes. Obama isnt a muslim but he does have a messianic way of thinking.

IU watched some of his earlier speeches. He was always talking about the “Joshua generation” taking over the black community from the “Moses” of jessie Jackson and Martin Luther King.

He sees himself as the leader bring the people into the promised land.

He honestly believes he is some new age prophet whos goal is to create a utopia for mankind. That is a dangerous way of thinking for anyone in power. The left bashed Bush for being a believer but Bush saw his role as protecting the US not transforming it into his own image.

JiangxiDad on August 30, 2009 at 11:45 AM

And the most ironic thing about that is that its the ones who always want to “heal” racial divides that are doing the damage, all in the name of furthering their agenda.

I’m not going to be naive and say that there wasn’t racism still going on. But we (had?) come a long way. One conversation I had with another gentleman on that subject, he believed we had come a long way as well. Asked me “Would your grandfather have had this conversation with MY grandfather? I know MINE wouldn’t have!” (And that was way back in the dark ages, circa 1989)

And now today, cries of “Racist” and “Hatemongering” and “Nazis” are used to attempt to villify a portion of one group, hoping to cower the rest of that group.

I was wondering yesterday, if not for the prevalance of talk radio, Fox News, and the internet with wonderful sites such as this one, what would the effect of the RightWing Extremist report have had on the Tea Party protests scheduled just days after its release? I dare say that many ‘regular’ working folks would have heard the key snippits that Katie Couric wanted us to hear, and think ‘whoa, I didn’t realize those Tea Parties were KKK Racists, I better not go!’

Same thing with the town halls. We would have been seeing the few hitler-esque style posters, and the occasional nut ‘disrupting’ the meeting, instead of the seemingly endless crop of YouTubes showing just how idiotic, unprepared, and condecending the congressjerks are.

I believe that this is the moment that the Dems and Media have been waiting for for a couple of decades, tending to the smoldering embers of racism, occasionally stoking the coals just enough to keep it on the burner. When a fall guy is needed to tamp the people down, just throw a little fuel on it, and we’ll all step away because we don’t want burned.

Well let me tell you, we are NOT stepping away. We are NOT afraid of that fire, because this is NOT about racism, Barry! Pour all the gas you want on it, it won’t work any more.

Sorry, got started, and couldn’t find a rant stopping point!

Yeah, I’m with you but I console myself with the thought that “wee weed up” is truly amateurish while the Medicare-Medicaid flip flop is just venal manipulation done in a knowledgeable way.

I think this Obama quote “This administration does not intend to delay in getting you the help that we need” is fully intentional although the lack of agreement in person from the prepositional object to the participle noun (“you” does not agree with “we”) seems amateurish. It is, in fact, quite chilling in the redirection it implies.

After the 70s, and into the 90s, being labled a racist was one of the worst things that could have happened. That’s why Limbaugh fought so hard to have Clinton retract comment and apologize.

But like you said, they’ve tossed that around just a few too many times, and now the blind charge has lost most of it’s stinging power.

He may turn out to be one of the most famous people who has ever lived, because of the enormity of the fraud he was able to perpetrate.

JiangxiDad on August 30, 2009 at 11:23 AM

Like people remember Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin.

docdave on August 30, 2009 at 12:38 PM

is truly amateurish while the Medicare-Medicaid flip flop is just venal manipulation done in a knowledgeable way.
ExpressoBold on August 30, 2009 at 12:10 PM

True. My perception is skewed right now because I am REALLY bent over Ochimpy and this leap toward socialism.

csdeven on August 30, 2009 at 12:38 PM

Did Obama satisfy the language requirement at Columbia with Arabic? I’ve never heard him speak another language (although I do know he was able to recite passages from the Koran, perhaps from memory)but I’m sure he must have been required to know one. So which one(s) is it?

JiangxiDad on August 30, 2009 at 11:11 AM

I think he is fluent in Austrian.

I went with wee weed, but was torn over the ramadan message. I didn’t hear about that until now. I knew about the National prayer day snub before, but this is unreal.

kathleen on August 30, 2009 at 12:41 PM

With Barack Obama on vacation this week, I suspected we may might not have much material…

Past tense.

Tzetzes on August 30, 2009 at 12:42 PM

If you want substance, the Post Office statement wins.

For pure stupidity, you can’t top the wee wee, followed by the (forced?) vacation extension.

Meremortal on August 30, 2009 at 12:54 PM

You know JD? I am conerned that eventually not only will people not be effected by being called a racist but start to wear that label as a badge on honor. I know that is far fetched. Or is it?

HoustonRight on August 30, 2009 at 12:26 PM

Depends on who makes the charge. If an Obot makes the charge about me, yes I will wear it as a badge of honor, because it means I won the argument.

conservnut on August 30, 2009 at 12:55 PM

Been waiting all wee wee week to vote for this…

ladyingray on August 30, 2009 at 1:05 PM

Nigel and David present the winner.

Christien on August 30, 2009 at 1:20 PM

wee-wee all the way.

wildcat84 on August 30, 2009 at 1:29 PM

At least W tried to make up real words, not gibberish.

Cr4sh Dummy on August 30, 2009 at 1:43 PM

Wee-wee is clearly the most childish, amateurish thing he’s done to date. A lot of the other stuff is stupid, but this… this is just so unprofessional.

BKennedy on August 30, 2009 at 1:57 PM

Has to be wee-wee, and they said Bush lacked gravitas!

conservativegrandma on August 30, 2009 at 1:58 PM

I chose “wee weed” because from what I gathered, people supposedly voted for him because of his intelligence and ability to articulate. They knew he had no experience, questionable associations, but “hey he’s smart and articulate!” I wonder if those idiots feel “wee weed” on, because they’re definitely wet!

texabama on August 30, 2009 at 2:23 PM

This week, he will announce that he made poopy in the potty all by himself!

Jim Treacher on August 30, 2009 at 2:39 PM

Barry and his administration are amateur hour in action, there are too many items to pick from for a weekly poll , HA should start doing a daily poll.

bayview on August 30, 2009 at 4:01 PM

Boy a category with “all the above”, would have been great for this week. LOL

capejasmine on August 30, 2009 at 4:09 PM

Medicare is on an unsustainable path and will be bankrupt in 10 years, but we should have no fears about the government taking on more of a role in healthcare.

In the words of Homer Simpson, DOOOOH!!

O’Bambi speaks whatever language the teleprompter is programmed for. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if someone hacked the TOTUS to speak the truth?
