Video: A little union astroturfing in New York
posted at 4:10 pm on August 28, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Via Gateway Pundit, although I’m certain there’s an alternative explanation. Maybe the leader of the Long Island Federation of Labor couldn’t make it to the town-hall forum in his own district, or perhaps his Representative was busy hiding, like many House Democrats this August. His attempt to pander to the actual constituents of Rep. Tim Bishop results in catcalls and a full minute of disruption:
Jim also reports that the Magical Mystery Bus Tour continued for this meeting, with unions sending three busloads of people to the event. Even so, the angry constituents shout them down fairly effectively … or at least they did until several members of the Communication Workers of America started a fracas. That comes at about the 3:45 mark, so be sure to watch it all the way through.

Blowback

The National Civilian Defense Force engages in it’s first contact with the enemy, the American citizen.
BobMbx on August 28, 2009 at 4:12 PM
I am sure that I am not the only one concerned about disruptions at the 9/12 march. We are already planning a meeting place in case we get scattered and an escape route to avoid the Metro. I wouldn’t put anything past the left at this point.
TXMomof3 on August 28, 2009 at 4:14 PM
Have another coffee, Ed. (sending three buloads of people)
And this is nonsense. As we have seen already:
Union = grassroots
Regular citizens who are concerned about their welfare = Paid Nazis.

But worries about Dear Leader having His version of the brownshirts are overblown. Yeah, sure.

This town hall looked & sounded like the streets of Thailand. I was expecting to see a couple of Roosters cockfighting and people with cigarettes in the mouths waving 20 dollar bills above their heads.
These union thugs are outrageous. We need Chuck Norris there.
portlandon on August 28, 2009 at 4:19 PM
The union guy took a “flop”, then they accused the non-union guy of knocking him down…

Daddy-O on August 28, 2009 at 4:20 PM
I guess Barry ‘s Gang thinks sending Union Thugs to the Townhall Meetings is going to intimidate Americans. They have no clue about the testicular fortitude of Americans when they relize their freedom is about to be taken away.

TXMomof3 on August 28, 2009 at 4:23 PM
I’m confused, it looks like the guy in the yellow shirt pushed the guy in the red union shirt. What was the yellow shirted guy? A union supporter or just one the the regular constituents?
FlyoverJ-HawkFan on August 28, 2009 at 4:24 PM
Maybe we should all start packing at political events.
TXMomof3 on August 28, 2009 at 4:24 PM
Pretty hard to get an idea of what’s happening in the picture and story. Had to go to Gateway Pundit to get the context correct.
I’m sure more of this thuggery, the real astro turf, will be spread around by the democrats
Kini on August 28, 2009 at 4:24 PM
This is getting dangerous.
We have Union Thugs attempting to break protest. We have the MSM in lock step with them claiming legitimate dissent is manufactured and thus illegitimate and Democrats stating that they can Legislate for you, they must legislate for you and you don’t know what is best for you. You are to stupid to know what you want!
We have a rabble of Union thugs, Main-Stream Media voices and a governemnt that insults the people, calls them various bad names, destroys legitimate dissent.
This is the perfect storm. The last time something like this happened there was blood in the streets and a bunch of rich fat froggies got their heads chopped off to great praise…
Holger on August 28, 2009 at 4:25 PM
So basically it’s this now;
Union socialist thugs looking to protect their easy extortion money and propping up the socialist fascists in office versus the rest of the country.
I think it’ll be a bloody war with lots of union dead, but they’ll lose.
Spiritk9 on August 28, 2009 at 4:25 PM
The people in red shirts were the union workers and the guy in the yellow was a regular constituent. I think the union guy took a flop and blamed it on the yellow guy.
FontanaConservative on August 28, 2009 at 4:26 PM
You can clearly see i the video the guy in orange had his hands down by his side the whole time. The union guy did take a dive to try and make it look like he was attacked.

Mommypundit on August 28, 2009 at 4:28 PM
OK thanks, kinda what I thought but wanted confirmation. Man it’s getting ugly out there. I believe there will be bloodshed before this is over. (More so than in St. Louis.)
FlyoverJ-HawkFan on August 28, 2009 at 4:28 PM
Red shirt is union, yellow shirt, I played it about six times, the camera was a little late…but the yellow shirt did not push the red shirt guy, the union red shirt took a “fall”, it was phony as could be.
The Red shirt fell back, but you would have to have an “opposite and equal” force going the other way, notice the yellow shirt just stood there not moving, while the red shirt went “flying” back as if someone yanked him from behind.
Well schooled in tactics those Union fellows, if approached, fly back as if you are hit, take a “fall” and pretend you were punched or kicked…very effective.
right2bright on August 28, 2009 at 4:28 PM

TXMomof3 on August 28, 2009 at 4:31 PM
One thing to count on: They’ll probably have a bunch a plants there wearing swastikas or carrying “Kill Obama” type signs or doing any number of things to make our guys and gals look like nuts. They’re reay good at that stuff.
And I wouldn’t put it past them to try to incite our team to attack.
Anyone going to D.C. or any of the 9/12 events needs to bring video cameras or cells with video capability, primarily for self defense purposes.
Have fun, wish I was going.
TXUS on August 28, 2009 at 4:32 PM
I continue to be amazed that Obama and Rahm think this sh*t is gonna work. They really have woken a sleeping giant, and it really is filled with a terrible resolve. Their jack-booted Chicago-style politics just is not going to make this all go away. These people are not going to be intimidated into shutting up and going away by goons sent out by their own government. The genie is out of the bottle, and Obama continues down this ruinous path at his own peril. They are showing the entire country that the “right wingers” like Rush, Beck, et al, are right about Obama and the far-left! It’s just amazing that they think they can do this violent intimidation crap day after day and still expect that people aren’t going to believe their own lying eyes. We see the buses rolling in! We see the matching union shirts! We see the matching professionally lettered pro-Obama signs! We know what’s going on! Are Obama and the dems really this stupid?! I mean, really, are they?
Rational Thought on August 28, 2009 at 4:32 PM
It sure is nice to live in flyover country. Kansas is a right to work state with 3 of the 4 Congressman as Repubs and the 2 Senators are Repubs as well. No troubles here…yet. Not to mention, Obama took our real useful idiot Sebelius.

Obama will destroy the Democrat party and the Unions if he signs the healthcare reform.
Seriously. This is the reason Obama & Dems tried to rush the vote prior to the August recess.
We, The PEOPLE, won’t soon forget the ugly name calling by Democrat leaders and the MSM or the busloads of thug Unions stacking the town halls.

A word to the wise:
If you’re going, do not drive into DC. Locate a METRO station with a Park-N-Ride lot, and take the train in. There is little to no parking in DC, and you’ll curse yourself for hours trying to get out.
I recommend staying on the VA side.
Carry a back pack with water and food. It’s just faster that way.
If you don’t have at least a 2-hour bladder, don’t go. Or bring an empty 2-liter bottle.
And when you see men walking around wearing a suit, tie, briefcase, and tennis shoes, they aren’t retarded. They’re your public servants…wait….check that retarded part.
ps: Don’t wear any Dallas Cowboy logos. I made that mistake in RFK in 1989. It can get rough.
BobMbx on August 28, 2009 at 4:42 PM
The unions are not representing themselves very well. This leaves a very negative image in people’s minds. Next election, candidates may start seeing that being supported by unions is poison.
Rose on August 28, 2009 at 4:42 PM
They don’t understand the power of the blogs and talk radio. I think they believe with 95% of the drive-bys in the tank, that they can get away with anything. And even though they are being allowed to get by with far more than any other administration in my lifetime, the major issues like crap-and-trade, porkulus, and Obamacare are meeting fierce opposition from an informed public.
Unless Obama becomes the first leader in history to create a successful government-run economy, his Presidency will go down in flames.

peacenprosperity on August 28, 2009 at 4:54 PM
This intimidation crap has been going on since the democrat caucuses. Obama became the democrat candidate by sending his goons out to beat peoples’ heads in there, so I guess it kind of makes sense that he thinks his continued threats of violence can force his unpopular agenda through. He’s gonna have to get a bigger can of whoop-ass, though, then a bunch of ignorant union thugs, cuz the American people aren’t going down as easily as those democrat caucus voters did. For one thing, he can call us “racists” till the cows come home. We’ve heard it all before; now it just makes us laugh.
