Glenn Beck: Are you “In or Out”?

posted at 7:39 pm on August 28, 2009 by Allahpundit

The climax to his week of shows exposing Obama’s czars, which has seen him pulling O’Reilly-type ratings at 5 p.m. Don’t be surprised if he’s number one in all time slots tonight for this. I thought the big finale was going to be an announcement that he’s forming his own party — given the increasingly activist tone of the show and his penchant for addressing his audience as “America,” he clearly his grand aspirations — but he’s not there yet. Maybe if ObamaCare ends up passing? Dare to dream, Beckheads.

In the meantime, he’s starting small: The first clip has him ticking off five policy positions he wants viewers to confront their representatives with. If they don’t accede to them, they’re out next year. (Skip the first half of the clip; the “In or Out” bit doesn’t start until later.) The second clip is a summary of his czar coverage this week followed by a plea to viewers not to let leftist invective get them down — but never mind that. Skip ahead and watch the last two minutes, where he segues from a dramatic recitation of “Sticks and Stones” into the lyrics of “Revolution” off the White Album, a GB whiskey-tango-foxtrot moment if ever there was one. I appreciate the message, but I don’t think I’m ever going to groove on the delivery. Ah well. Different strokes…

Third party! Yay! Democrats in power for the next forty years because the right would be split into at least 3 parties, none of which can win on their own! I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to cut off my nose to spite my face.

He has a bunch of valid concerns that actually need to be addressed. Quirky as he is, I still bet he has fascists in the whitehouse and congress tapping their fingers on the table and whistling while they wonder aloud; “gawd, I hope nobody takes this seriously, if they do we’re friggin dead!”

It’s tough to watch Beck’s show in 5 minute clips and not come away with the same impression you have, AllahPundit.

I got to see the whole show straight through a couple times this week, and it’s literally a one hour story, not a bunch of 5 minute segments. You should give it a try a couple times and see if it shifts your opinion a bit.

The right of revolution is an inherent one. When people are oppressed by their government, it is a natural right they enjoy to relieve themselves of oppression, if they are strong enough, whether by withdrawal from it, or by overthrowing it and substituting a government more acceptable.- Ulysses S. The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men. – Samuel Adams

I wouldn’t mind a further development of this theme. Perhaps Fox coul bring psychologists onto Huckabee, and have concerned families of progressives on for televised interventions.

I also wouldn’t mind seeing segments on “Noticing the warning signs of progressivism.”

Or heck, how about comericials like “85% of progressives become infected before the age of 21, Do you know where you child is right now?”

Beck sees much of what is going on and is not afraid to say it. That is what scares most people, who would like to pretend that none of this is happening and that America is just chugging along as usual. But, I don’t think Beck really understands how bad things are going to get. Beck sees the White House building a super-structure to assume power from the Congress and solidify it all with the declaration of an emergency. The reality that I see is far more chaotic and far worse. The federal government is working hard to kill our dollar, after which all bets will be off. No one can say with any certainty what will come of our nation after our monetary system is rendered useless, though I have little doubt that The Precedent thinks he will do what Beck is saying he will do, but it just won’t be possible. Disintegration is a very messy state of affairs and The Precedent isn’t competent enough to run even a stable state, let alone gain control over a disintegrating network.
