Video: Beck interviews Limbaugh on the threat to free speech
posted at 8:36 pm on August 26, 2009 by Allahpundit
Another day, another harrowing clip of one of our new “czars” extolling the virtues of radical leftism. And yet, Limbaugh’s right: If bringing back Fairness was ever seriously part of The One’s agenda, the moment to do it has safely passed. To pull off something like that would require a complacent right and a broad independent middle energized with Hopenchange fever. Thanks to ObamaCare, we now have the opposite. Lefty Dan Gerstein surveys the landscape:
Step back for a second, listen to what the non-screaming skeptics are saying, and it’s clear the party severely overestimated its mandate and underestimated the public’s growing unease with the government’s massive growth over the last year. What would have been a hard sell in any environment has turned into an epic challenge. Yet the Democrats have been charging ahead as if it’s still November 2008, oblivious to the dramatic change in the electorate’s mood…
The president chose not to lead with his own [health-care] plan, and Congress filled the vacuum with a multitude of partisan bills. This only heightened the public’s confusion and wariness. The Democrats went back and forth for weeks on how to pay for their bills and then settled on Medicare cuts as the prime cost-saver, fueling doubts about whether it would be deficit neutral as the president promised. Worst of all, the House bills, which have been the locus of public attention, were found by CBO to actually raise costs instead of lowering them. That undermined the president’s credibility and the public’s confidence in Congress’ competence…
If Democrats are going get out of this hole and pass a meaningful health care bill, Kohut argues, they are going to have to address this broad distrust of government, which is becoming more acute among independents and even some Democrats.
Obama’s polling (now down to 51/44 at Gallup) will bounce back and he’ll almost certainly get something passed on health care but that “broad distrust of government” ain’t going away, especially with things like cap-and-trade on the horizon. So long as distrust is high, the odds of Democrats instituting stealth Fairness are even lower than the odds of them holding onto Congress long-term. The One will have to content himself with creepy idiocy like this, which I expect will be about as effective as the alleged plan to replace memories of 9/11 with a commitment to flower power or whatever.
Exit question: Is Beck serious here when he talks about the White House using some sort of disaster as a pretext to impose emergency rule? We’re only seven months into The One’s term and already he’s right at the brink of Reichstag Fire scenarios? I don’t think the left dropped those on Bush until his second year in office, at least. How’s GB going to hold it together for another three years if he’s already this close to the edge?

Gentlemen, gentlemen…
This entire scenario of governmental interventionism cannot have just happened by accident. I might actually say that socialism, is actually corporate, capitalist, monopolism, in its’ purest form. It has never been anything else.
Today not one nation in the entire world has a free market economy; no single nation has a gold or silver-backed currency. Not a single nation without this base can withdraw into its national boundaries and make its way as a free market, as a totally stable economic entity.
The universal corporation rules, ladies and gentlemen…!
The corporate mask is gone. The elitist sons of bitches don’t care if you now know! This isn’t good news. It means a return to a feudal system for the greater populuse of the humans on earth.
It projects itself as the illuminated new Corporate World Order…

Why? No one has made a direct (or even an INDIRECT) threat against the President. A reference was made about a quote from Thomas Jefferson, a former President. Big deal.

If you think that a direct threat has been made against the POTUS, then you have a responsibility, by law, to report it. If not, then your comment about the Secret Service is nothing more than a lame attempt to intimidate another poster. Which is it? Put up or shut up…

Hey,, here’s more good news. Drudge is reporting that a thousand more banks will fail.
Ya do gotta wonder,,,, Obama doesn’t seem to care what votes he loses. So,,,either he really is incompetent and has not a clue what he is doing,,, or he has a plan. The plan being votes won’t matter.

I don’t believe you are, and I expressed similar concerns before the Democratic primary was concluded. However, to claim as much is to lose relevance with the great mass of the American electorate. It doesn’t do much good to make a valid point if only the choir is paying attention, so I opt for different terminology when discussing our sitting President.

I hope Fox News Channel offers the Beck week long exposes on DVD for sale. This has been masterful journalism and needs to get spread around to those who haven’t watched the show this week.
Let’s hope those idiots continue the boycott. His ratings are through the roof because of the publicity. Once people start to watch him, they realize that he is doing the kind of investigatory journalism that used to be done decades ago by the daily papers. The daily papers are all losing readership because they are now just the mouthpiece of libs.

Al in St. Lou on August 27, 2009 at 7:11 PM
I’ve wondered that (about Levine), too. On Levine’s show at one point, I gleaned that Levine assumes that Beck either doesn’t read the books he claims to, and/or doesn’t give proper credit for ideas that Beck presumably comes up. I don’t know if it’s a case of Savage-itious (that is, claiming an original idea even if it’s an idea or conclusion that isn’t all that original or clever; or coining a phrase after another said it, but claiming to be first anyway) or what.
I thought it was interesting to see Rush on that show, as Hannity and Levin seem to look up to Rush. I’m curious to see what Levin’s reaction is going to be going forward. I’m guessing….not much is going to change. Then again, that’s the joy–and consequence–of being a bunch of independent, free-thinkers, I suppose.

He does not run into trifling dangers, nor is he fond of danger , because he honours few things; but he will face great dangers, and when he is in danger he is unsparing of his life, knowing that there are conditions on which life is not worth having.
All else being equal, peace is a good thing. The very purpose of democracy is to prevent revolution. Even if a revolution were (at great cost, of course) to succeed in deposing Obama, you would still have to imprison or murder the 53% of the country that voted for him. That would, of course, make you far more a threat to the inalienable rights of Americans than anything Obama could do even if he were as awful as you believe he is.
hicsuget on August 27, 2009 at 7:15 PM
I emailed Glenn and a response from Pat said they can not sell dvds from the show. I think you and others should email them and stress how important it is. Im sure they could get clearance from Fox News.

The ridiculous “blasphemy laws” of Norway are often used to quell “controversial” speech.
Norwegian on August 27, 2009 at 7:23 PM
No it’s not.
The Republic exists so men and women can enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Whenever something or someone steps in to take that away, it’s our duty to oppose that in whatever form necessary. That’s why freedom of speech, the press and assembly were written into the Bill of Rights.
Americans aren’t stupid, nor are they trigger happy. People are discussing scenarios and letting the world know that should it come to that we won’t be sheep.
Nothing would ever happen unless Obama or his cronies forcefully tried to impose their will on people. More and more people are realizing each day that Obama isn’t what they thought. Your 53% is dwindling down rapidly. Soon, the only people Obama will have left are his rabid core supporters.
darwin on August 27, 2009 at 7:25 PM
I think you suffer from the “it can’t happen here” syndrome.
GB could well be right. Although I don’t think Bozo is smart enough for a plan, he’s a bumbling clown leading a clown posse. he a dangerous clown, a real Joker…
With more bank failures, people losing homes and even going hungry, people will get angry and the dissent that’s visible now will come to look as being polite.
Thats when evil egos like the Won crumble and the goon squads come out. We’ve seen evidence of fascist tactics already.
How many people have Bozo’s thugs beaten up? Next we will see a night of broken windows. Our own Crystal Nacht or something parallel.
People in all the countries where IT DID HAPPEN said the same thing. “Can’t happen here!”

Levin just took ANOTHER shot at Beck. Levin said “…see, i give credit where credit is due. I dont use charts. …” said a couple other things that I dont remember word for word. But man, he just doesnt stop with the shots.
Maybe Beck should give more sources, but he isnt hiding how he is doing research, reading, has his own research staff. He tries to get out as much info as he can in the short amount of time he has. He even urges his watchers/listeners to do their own research. Levin needs to knock it off.
bucsox79 on August 27, 2009 at 7:38 PM
Agreed. Some may not like Beck’s style; but he is taking so-called “investagatory journalists” to school.

technopeasant on August 27, 2009 at 7:55 PM
No they dont. Beck is on from 9 am to noon. Then on tv at 5 pm. Levin doesnt come on until 6 pm on the radio.
bucsox79 on August 27, 2009 at 8:03 PM
Assuming that’s the case, the Levin needs to “L2Podcast”. As far as I’m concerned, they’re just back-to-back listening (or would be, if I subscribed to Beck’s podcast; I suppose if you count TiVo, it would be the case).
If that is the case, it makes Levin seem pretty petty and counterproductive to his cause. He also doesn’t seem to have the same attitude to Rush, which I’m sure he’s a rival in some areas of the country; or couldn’t the same be said for Hannity?
CatsGodot on August 27, 2009 at 8:05 PM
Actually h…I like the cut of yer jib…!
Geezer on August 27, 2009 at 8:11 PM
Personally, I appreciate Beck’s style. His insights aren’t that far off the mark, as they pertain to an insidious coup d’état of our government and eventually our culture by an extremist branch of the Democratic party.
Beck isn’t a professional journalist per se (which may be a good thing), and his delivery certainly is histrionic. Still, his passion is contagious and his ideas (whether or not he adequately cites sources) are often spot on.
The potential infiltrative perils he rants about are real. The dangers Beck talks about involving totalitarianism relate directly to the infiltration by communist factions into the Democratic party over 80 years ago. As a former Democrat and politicians kid, I can attest to the communist influence in the party. Many of us erroneously believed we could keep them at bay indefinitely. Big mistake.
What’s currently more ominous is what that communist bloc has morphed into. They are determined to bring America to her knees by whatever means necessary. Like “hicsuget,” who posted earlier, I’m an academician and a former Classical Liberal, but I generally agree with Beck’s perspectives and I love his moxie.

Danny Glover is coming to Alaska to show his support for his good Pal Mark Begich, our Senator. (He ignores his constituents wishes and takes his orders from the Won.)
The tyrant loving liberal Glover, after having thrown his arm around the shoulder of Chavez the wanna be dictator, now throws his support behind Begich the Punk.
Stevens gone due to political intrigue, vindicated too late to help America. Unable to give real representation for the wishes of Alaskans rather than the bootlicking leftist we have in Begich.
