Regarding Ted Kennedy:

1. Switching the name from OBAMACare to KENNEDYCare just gets Obama’s name off the bill as we drive it off the bridge to its death.

2. Goggle “GQ Ted Kennedy Story” for a very good summary of “the boy” who never became a man.

3. Arlington!!!! Arlington revised the requirements for admission 25 years ago. It mandates that a “soldier” had to be active in a “combat zone”. Drunk as a National Guard in Paris doesn’t count. Besides, he didn’t even serve out his full term (Daddy got him out of it). JFK-decorated combat veteran who took a bullet as President, Bobby got the same while the front runner.

4. His grave will desecrate one of our holiest grounds.

5. He is the poster boy for the Democrats.

Kennedy earned C grades at the private Milton Academy, but was admitted to Harvard as a “legacy” — his father and older brothers had attended there, so the younger and dimmer Kennedy’s admission was virtually assured. While attending, he was expelled twice, once for cheating on a test, and once for paying a classmate to cheat for him. While expelled, Kennedy enlisted in the Army, but mistakenly signed up for four years instead of two. His father, Joseph P. Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to England, pulled the necessary strings to have his enlistment shortened to two years, and to ensure that he served in Europe, not Korea, where a war was raging. Kennedy was assigned to Paris, never advanced beyond the rank of Private, and returned to Harvard upon being discharged.“

As much as the left battles anything religious, the only way “Old Let her drown Ted” can appreciate naming this after him would mean that they believe he is in Heaven. So as it appears the only way to get the left to think about Heaven and God would be for them to keeping themselves dieing off. I guess that would be a win / win type scenario. I think this whole renaming thing is one heck of a contradiction in beliefs. So as far as this is a new rallying cry, all I can say is, sounds like a crap sandwich to me. .

The Democrats will try ot make that case for Kennedy. They may be able to use it to keep the Democrat party together on the Health Insurance Reform (renamed by Pelosi) issue. If that can do it successfully they could pass it without any republican support. This is where tactics on the floor of the senate matter. I hope our republican senators are up to the task. We conservatives need to keep the pressure on our own representative of either pary to let them feel the heat.

But it doesn’t help with the popularity of the bill, if anything it hurts its popularity. At the end of the day this does more to hurt them than to help them. It might even put more pressure on Blue Dogs not to vote for the bill.

Does Ted Kennedy have popularity outside of the partisan left? Wouldn’t this be akin to the GOP saying, “hey, let’s pass healthcare for William F Buckley.”

To me it seems like this will hurt more than help.
