Video: Glenn Beck goes after Obama czar … who founded group that’s boycotting him
posted at 7:34 pm on August 24, 2009 by Allahpundit
A short biographical sketch of revolutionary turned “green jobs czar” Van Jones that’s missing one tiny detail from his resume: He co-founded Color of Change, the lefty outfit that’s spearheading the much-publicized boycott of Beck that may or may not actually exist. It’s a little shady that Beck doesn’t disclose that here, although maybe he mentioned it at some other point in the show. Can anyone who watched from start to finish confirm or deny? Either way, consider this a vivid illustration of Karl’s theory that one of the reasons Obama’s gone czar-crazy is to bypass the Senate confirmation process. Imagine the field day the GOP would have with Jones’s past if he had to answer questions.
Exit question: Dude?
Update: Beck fans are saying in the comments that he didn’t mention Jones’s CoC background elsewhere on the show, but that the cause and effect here are reversed: In fact it’s Beck who’s been after Jones for some time and only recently did CoC launch its boycott, presumably as retaliation.

Again,Beck was onto this guy way before the boycott.I doubt this is any type of retaliation against coc on Becks part.Hes gonna tear jones, and the other wacko czars, apart regardless.Plus the boycott isnt the story.

DaveS, IIRC the advertiser(s) that pulled ads were pulling them from ALL A-L-L opinion news shows. So if Olby, Chrissy, etc do not mention that they are being boycotted does that mean I get to make with the funny eyebrows and hmmmms?

I had a nightmare that we turned into the Wiemar Republic two nights ago and I cannot shake it-is anyone else having bad dreams over what is happening in America? This is the second time in my life I have been this afraid, 9/11 being the first.
I am very afraid that someone will hurt Beck. I like, Beck & Palin, have a cherished family member who has special needs and I know why he gets all teared up over his daughter. I worry what will happen to her as well as my WWII vet uncle, who worked for the Federal Government all his life after serving and now has Alzheimer’s.
On a lighter note, how will we know who is who in DC on 9/12? Any special Hot Air meet-up location?

I’d suggest Harper’s Ferry but we all know how that would end up.
Limerick on August 24, 2009 at 9:16 PM
There are two topics here…
a) You are correct, the ones that actually pulled from ALL shows do not affect Beck any more than any other shows, BUT if they actually decided to pull from all political shows BECAUSE OF the boycott (which is admittedly unlikely) then they still adversely affect Fox News’ bottom line.
b) Olbermann isn’t “being boycotted” because a Beck advertiser decides to pull ads from all cable news shows as a result of a boycott of Beck’s show. Did that actually make sense to you when you typed it?
Jim Treacher on August 24, 2009 at 9:11 PM

No she doesn’t. She sounds like someone who disagrees with the group. As it happens I disagree with her also. However, as someone who has been called a lefty here at HA simply for disagreeing AND, when it was discovered that I’m black, a race-baiter for that reason alone, I will stand up for Terry’s right to disagree without being tarnished with the Leftist brush.

Dude, that’s their instinctive response to anything that doesn’t 100% regurgitate the talking-point-of-the-day. A very large number of the people who comment on Hotair aren’t here because they are intellectually-curious, knowledgeable people. They are here precisely because it satisfies their need for an echo-chamber.
You can tell who those people are because they are usually cheering about Ted Kennedy’s brain tumor, or calling people names for expecting the media to disclose conflicts of interest.

I dont think that glenn beck is doing anything shady.
Now maybe he missed or forgot to mention something
But we need to stop being so afraid of the leftists
/ communists / democrats
that we cant say anything unless we research it first..
I know we have to be careful because every leftist is working for our enemies..
or the russians.. the same thing..
I do believe that we still have that pesky first ammendment right to free speech.. at least until obama and the democrats try to take it away..
and they will just wait..
you know the first ammendment the one all the liberals love to hide behind when they accusing our troops of mass murder, or bush of lying to the american people those things.
So to demonize glenn beck just because he missed something tends to lend creedence to the leftists wakos whos mind
is drugged out so much they actually think they are flying..
I disagree with your assesment..

So if i have a choice of believe a right winger who makes mistakes vs a leftist nut case who is looking for any excuse to throw your ass in jail..
I think i will trust the right wingers..
at least they arent working for the Islamic Nazis..

Did I call her one first? No. I simply responded to her own attack on herself. She’s being disingenious about Glenn Beck, so I called her on that. You might want to watch who you defend or at least do me the courtesy of reading the previous posts, Baldi.
HornetSting on August 24, 2009 at 9:25 PM
Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t think Beck’s failure to disclose Van Jones’ affiliation with the COC is the big story here. Let’s keep our eyes on the ball.
alwaysright43 on August 24, 2009 at 9:25 PM
The “ad hominem attack” was me saying that Beck should disclose conflicts of interest in his reporting (astounding to me that this is even a question, and speaks to the declining quality of commenters here). Or maybe the “ad hominem attack” was me explaining pretty clearly why the Beck boycott was almost certainly costing Fox some money one way or another.
No… the ad hominems came from the zealots who basically worship Beck or Fox News or any other personality (Palin is the worst in this regard) who lack arguments and therefore immediately resort to calling people “liberals” or “lefties” when they very correctly disagree about even the most trivial point.
DaveS on August 24, 2009 at 9:26 PM

P.S. (to others throwing around lefty) and more to the point, if someone is to the left of you doesn’t mean they are a lefty. There are several severities of rightness, just like leftness. Case in point, people get on MSNBC for being part of The Conservative media. I think we can all agree, except DaveS, that MSNBC is not on the right.
P.P.S. If you’re not a leftist (See what I did there) then what the Obama are you?

If you don’t like the guy, at least listen to the message. Glenn Beck is the only one putting the dots together to get the full picture of how obama plans to dismantle this country. Hate the messenger, fine. But, listen to the message and don’t get all mealy mouthed about not mentioning ONE thing that does not even matter. Who doesn’t know that he is being boycotted and so what, the lines to advertise on his show probably go around the block.
That’s all.

Jaibones on August 24, 2009 at 9:33 PM
Yeah, “dude” is sort of like “man”, it is meant to convey exasperation or whatever. I wasn’t meaning it to imply that baldilocks is a “dude”.
My apologies to baldilocks for my irresponsible use of the word (but really, is there any responsible use of “dude”?).
DaveS on August 24, 2009 at 9:33 PM
I have to disagree with those who suggest that Beck should feel compelled to expose the actions of his opposition. He has been systematically criticizing the appointment of the green jobs czar LONG before any boycott got off the ground (if, indeed, it did). Beck just keeps doing what he’s doing, boycott or not. If Beck had started his expose of czars AFTER the CofC-orchestrated boycott, then I would agree with you.
He is collecting enemies faster than any of us can count, and if he has to list all of them before he does yet another story on them, then the producers of his show might as well reserve the first minute to run their names across the screen for all of us to read.

thomasaur on August 24, 2009 at 9:34 PM
Indeed.
In fact, the boycott happened BECAUSE Beck was poking into the czars, particularly into Van Jones. He’s been talking about him on his radio show for far longer than the boycott was around.
wildcat84 on August 24, 2009 at 9:36 PM
I agree, the message is good. All I said was that if Van Jones was affiliated with the group, he absolutely has a responsibility to disclose that. The people I don’t like are those that are going out of their way to justify unethical behavior.
And baldilocks, yes you appear to agree with me.
DaveS on August 24, 2009 at 9:36 PM

Sue on August 24, 2009 at 9:36 PM
Okay. But that doesn’t mean that she sounds like a Lefty…something you actually did say. And matters of media ethics aren’t minute, not anymore.<—my opinion.
baldilocks on August 24, 2009 at 9:36 PM
I’m glad you did a segment on this. I think Glenn is under some serious pressure, being the “face” of the opposition on television. If you will notice, Bill O’Reilly has punted this whole Obama thing down the road. He is trying to moderate his positions and soft pedaling any criticism. It’s sad, but expected. He is not up to any real fights.
Beck on the other hand, talked about being stalked by bloggers who were giving away he and his family’s location and security set up. That is some dangerous stuff. It only takes one nut job, thinking he is doing a favor to Obama, to put him down. I spent twenty years in law enforcement having to be very conscience of me and my family’s security. It can be nerve-racking to say the least.
Like I said before, do not mistake this series of moves being executed by the left as a debate or a policy. This is a war being waged on our nation by those who want to fundamentally cripple our way of life. There may be many different motives (I came up with seven on my blog), but they are all focusing on the same thing.
http://truthandcommonsense.com/2009/08/23/why-socialize-america-lets-play-the-agenda-game/
I wrote a novel about this twelve years ago. At that time, the people who read it laughed saying no way it could happen. In the book I created a character like Beck (I had no idea who he was at the time) who met his inevitable fate.
Last summer I pulled it down and am in the process of getting it published. It seems nobody’s laughing now…
http://revoltthebook.com/
I believe, and this fall and winter will tell if I’m right, that the progressives on the left (and some on the right) have been jockeying for position for years. I have this fear we are about to see them attempt a leg sweep. Once down, we’ll have very little change of regaining our feet.

June, 25, 2009 – 10:17 pm THE ASSOCIATED PRESS ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Gov. Sarah Palin is visiting U.S. troops in Kosovo.
Palin’s office had said the governor travelled Wednesday to see Alaska National Guard troops at an undisclosed overseas location. On Thursday, her office said she was visiting about 140 aviators with the Guard in Kosovo.
Maybe this is one of the reasons Mrs Palin resigned, it was right after this trip. Possibly she learned a lot from the troops and they were not happy about the direction of the country. I think they gave her a lot of strength and I know they have her back.

You have to ask yourself “Isn’t there someone in America who is more qualified and less controversial to be Obama’s Green Jobs Czar then Van Jones?”
The answer, of course is there are literally millions of Americans more qualified and less controversial for that job then Van Jones.
Which leads to the Obvious question: What is it about Van Jones that Barack Obama desires so much that he gives him such a lofty title? Could it be the radical past, which mirrors the same past of all of Obama’s closest friends and associates? See a pattern as to who Obama is most comfortable with and what they represent?
