Video: Glenn Beck goes after Obama czar … who founded group that’s boycotting him
posted at 7:34 pm on August 24, 2009 by Allahpundit
A short biographical sketch of revolutionary turned “green jobs czar” Van Jones that’s missing one tiny detail from his resume: He co-founded Color of Change, the lefty outfit that’s spearheading the much-publicized boycott of Beck that may or may not actually exist. It’s a little shady that Beck doesn’t disclose that here, although maybe he mentioned it at some other point in the show. Can anyone who watched from start to finish confirm or deny? Either way, consider this a vivid illustration of Karl’s theory that one of the reasons Obama’s gone czar-crazy is to bypass the Senate confirmation process. Imagine the field day the GOP would have with Jones’s past if he had to answer questions.
Exit question: Dude?
Update: Beck fans are saying in the comments that he didn’t mention Jones’s CoC background elsewhere on the show, but that the cause and effect here are reversed: In fact it’s Beck who’s been after Jones for some time and only recently did CoC launch its boycott, presumably as retaliation.

I don’t remember him mentioning it, if anything I think the point was to ignore what was happening to beck but instead notice the damning evidence that is Van Jones. And there’s plenty of that
Defector01 on August 24, 2009 at 7:36 PM
Actually, its the other way around.Beck was exposing some of these czars ,including jones. Then jones’ group launched THEIR attack.

Actually, Beck has been talking about this dude long before Color of Change decided to protest him.
mizflame98 on August 24, 2009 at 7:37 PM
But I do admit, he has ramped up his investigation of the guy.

He’s mentioned Color of Change connections and Jones numerous times before.
thomasaur on August 24, 2009 at 7:38 PM
Which is why that piece of human trash decided to go after Beck.
The rats don’t exactly enjoy spotlights being shined on them.
wildcat84 on August 24, 2009 at 7:39 PM
There was a lot of information in the program today. Even old fashioned Democrat Pat Caddell couldn’t believe Jones is holding that office with his past.
kingsjester on August 24, 2009 at 7:39 PM
No Allah, there was no mention of the group “Color of Change” by Beck.

Pretty sure Glenn has mentioned this upstanding citizen on the radio show a couple of times…

are they sure that’s an east german outfit? and so what if it is? it’s not like its a nazi uniform or something.

Allah forget what the Republicans would ask, this guy WILL NOT pass an FBI background investigation for even the lowest security clearance.
elduende on August 24, 2009 at 7:43 PM
I said on a couple of threads after election that his Cabinet choices didn’t mean squat, the people that he surrounded himself with that didn’t require confirmation were the ones to watch.

Pat Caddel, a Liberal, called today’s Democratic Party “a bunch of Elitists”.
By the way, Spathi is now talking to himself on the “Rendition” thread. Three posts in a row. Weird.
kingsjester on August 24, 2009 at 7:44 PM
One of Glenn’s best questions: was Jones ever vetted through the FBI? Do these “czars” even need to go through a background check? If so, how did Jones get through – he’s a felon. Glen better be careful – I hope he has security 24/7.
Alibali on August 24, 2009 at 7:44 PM
Seriously where is the conservative boycott of Huffpo advertizers ?
William Amos on August 24, 2009 at 7:45 PM
Yeah – the show was great. So what if he did not mention color for change or whatever it is. He presented a lot of great info – to millions of people – and it made me think why the hell doesn’t someone follow the money and publish what the lifestyles of the union bosses looks like. Glenn is a good guy.
djl130 on August 24, 2009 at 7:45 PM
Nail the bastard Glenn.

Now we know why they are czars than congressional approved appointees — LOL.

Beck doesn’t present himself in an elitist mannor ridiculing those with differnt opinions. I don’t always agree with him but I admire his guts to bring to light what others will not. Therefore, he has won my support.

Upstater85 on August 24, 2009 at 7:48 PM
Ha, ha. Oh, that’s very funny. Did Soros forward you that joke this morning and tell you to spread it around?
Beck still has more than enough advertising dollars coming in. And the advertisers who left will be back in a few weeks/months, just like advertisers almost always do after pulling out under threats of boycott.
This crap rarely works. Whether you like it or not, both Beck and Whole Foods will be around six months and a year from now. And you’ll still be sitting in your mom’s basement, cashing your unemployment checks, screaming at the television.
amerpundit on August 24, 2009 at 7:48 PM
Heh, capitalism is always the enemy of the left it seems. I think you may be disappointed if you think that will happen.

That clip was almost unwatchable, due to the obnoxious background music.
DaveS on August 24, 2009 at 7:50 PM
What what I can see of it, Beck is wearing a current enlisted man’s uniform for the German Bundeswehr ( Army )
it is NOT a Nazi-era uniform-wrong color
Janos Hunyadi on August 24, 2009 at 7:50 PM
Oh, and incidentally, crr6. Sargento, Clorox, and Walmart have ended up pulling their ads from all political shows. Others have joined them, as well.
So your already-struggling lefty shows will end up being harmed more than Beck or Fox. Congrats.
amerpundit on August 24, 2009 at 7:50 PM
I can’t believe all those numbers Beck had on our deficit tonight. I have decided that I will be in D.C. on the 11th and 12th of September. Let’s All Gather at the River. (Potomac that is)

The cabinet means nothing. Really, Congress means nothing either, to Obama. He expects them to throw themselves on their swords for him no matter what.
What’s next? Imposing Obamacare and cap and tax by executive fiat?
You never know. Obama I don’t think sees any limits to his authority.
wildcat84 on August 24, 2009 at 7:52 PM
the crazier and more brazen glenn gets, the more i like him.
this boycott stuff just proves the old bombardier’s adage: “you know you’re over the target when you start taking heavy flak”.
grabbing him has to be one of the smartest programming decisions FNC has ever made.
i can’t wait to see what he does and says next!
homesickamerican on August 24, 2009 at 7:52 PM
I think Glenn Beck should embrace this “boycott.” He’ll probably enjoy increased viewership and press because of it.
Those advertisers who did jump ship actually only jumped into the lifeboats, which have not been launched. The same ads that Beck lost during his primary time-slot still run during the Beck reruns overnight and on the weekends.
Yawn.
The Race Card on August 24, 2009 at 7:52 PM
I don’t watch Mr. Beck’s show but he has been hitting this guy hard on the radio for at least a month. I don’t recall hearing the organization Color of Change until it started the boycott attempts but I may have just missed it.
Cindy Munford on August 24, 2009 at 7:53 PM
This is true. Beck has actually been the one leading the charge to expose these czars.
RightWinged on August 24, 2009 at 7:54 PM
Eh, he waivers on the issue of the military…
Upstater85 on August 24, 2009 at 7:54 PM
In the end, the only people hurt by the boycott are the spineless advertisers who took part in it, by not getting their ad seen by a very large and high quality audience.
Indeed, in cases like this I boycott the boycott, I won’t do business with the advertisers that pulled out.
wildcat84 on August 24, 2009 at 7:55 PM
I’m gonna have to agree here – Beck has spent a LOT of time going over Van Jones’ background on his radio show. He really, really dislikes this Green Jobs Czar…

He’s mostly focused on the Apollo Project, which Van Jones was heavily involved in. It’s one of the places where these 1,000+ page bills (like Porkulus) are coming from…
wildcat84 on August 24, 2009 at 7:56 PM
I’m sick of these racist shake-down groups like Color of Change. I’m going to boycott any company that caves into their demands. I’ve already told Fox that I’ll boycott them too if they take Beck off the air because of these thugs. And I won’t be the only one.

Glen Beck is one of the few who has the courage to tell the truth about what is going on. God bless him. He’s doing a great service to this country.
I believe 2010 elections will be the breaking point one way or another. Did you hear Pat say that they will do anything to hold on to that power? We all know this is true. I’m not sure Acorn didn’t steal the election in 08. 2010 will not be the elections we’ve had in the past. They will resort to whatever means to hold their power. They will do whatever damage they can inflict between now and then to divide and conquer. I believe our country will live or die that year. We’ll either fight or give over to the marxists. I’m not a pessimistic person, but I think it’s the reality. As for me, give me liberty or give me death.
texanpride on August 24, 2009 at 7:59 PM
Just out of wild curiosity, how are all these czars getting paid? Does the White House have unlimited discretion to add to its payroll?

It’s only going to get worse. The worse that Obama’s Presidency “wee-wees” the louder the “RAAACIST!” cries will be. Every race hustler in the country will be out in force.
On the positive side, people are starting to see through the smoke and mirrors that is Obama, and going to the extreme in the way I think they will with the “RAAAACE” card may very well end up killing it’s power of “Absolute Moral Authority” for good.
There are only so many times you can keep going to the same well before it’s dry, even this one.

HornetSting on August 24, 2009 at 8:01 PM
Allah, wouldn’t you think that FOX might be reluctant to have Beck mention an organized boycott going on against one of their shows? Remember the poll you ran on how long it would last? It probably shortens the length if it isn’t discussed a lot.

Ronnie on August 24, 2009 at 8:02 PM
With all of these “Czars” appointed isn’t it possible or likely that congressional members will question, if not resent, their latitude to act without any oversight? That’s a sincere question, and I’d like to know what y’all think. Even though the House is far left it seems that with all these czars running around they will eventually cause friction with elected representatives.
Cody1991 on August 24, 2009 at 8:03 PM
The real problem that Glenn Beck has in mentioning the boycott is that the advertisers are still advertising on other Fox programs. They did not pull anything from Fox, some just moved it to other Fox programs.
d1carter on August 24, 2009 at 8:04 PM
Excuse me if I misspell any words here because I’m typing this from hiding under my bed after watching how horribly scary the Green Czar is – I mean, this guy should be in a maximum security prison for life – and he’s in the White House! BetseyRoss on August 24, 2009 at 8:05 PM
I have emailed all major networks and demanded they start asking tough questions and report on these czars.
I guarantee you that 80 percent of Americans dont know about Jones or probably dont know how many czars Obama even has.
This is heading down the road of near treason in my opinion. How in the hell does the President of the United States appoint a man like this?
Strange, I can post using Internet Explorer but not Firefox.
bucsox79 on August 24, 2009 at 8:06 PM

jhffmn on August 24, 2009 at 8:10 PM
The problem is the GOP doesn’t have the power to do anything on that unless enough Dems were to side with them, and you aren’t going to see that happen unless 0bama’s polls hit the 30′s and they think they need to PUBLICLY distance themselves from him (possible a year from now).
Indeed, the only pushback 0bama’s had on the czars, ironically, is from Robert Byrd. Which is one reason why the Dems have been trying to push him out.
The czars are only going to get challenged if one of two things happens:
1. The Republican party gets control of one or both houses of Congress in 2010 and has the spine to act (and Congress can, they can strike the pay of the czars from the budget, which wouldn’t allow 0bama to pay them anything), hold hearings, etc.
2. Someone who gets acted on by a czar, such as the “pay czar” challenges the legality of the action in court. This is the quickest and most likely course. And the riskiest, you know that whomever did that is going to get destroyed by the 0bamedia and might be in mortal danger from the SEIU, ACORN, and other 0bama brownshirts.
wildcat84 on August 24, 2009 at 8:10 PM
One would think that eventually situations will occur that anger elected reps, and they say, “Hey! I actually worked to get elected. What’s this guy doing? That’s my turf.”
You are right. Most representatives are egoists which is why I think this might be the source of plenty of contention.
I’m always hoping the Dems will implode. lol
Cody1991 on August 24, 2009 at 8:11 PM
