Gallup: Obama’s weekly average approval rating hits new low

posted at 8:12 pm on August 24, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via Geoff A., behold the wages of ObamaCare: A 10-point drop in approval since June, shrinking The One’s s spread from 62/31 to just 52/41 now. I’m not sure how he expects to rebound, either. In all likelihood he’ll end up with a watered-down health-care bill that pleases no one; meanwhile, he has to deal with Holder’s divisive crusade against the CIA, the possibility of a double-dip recession, escalation of a war in Afghanistan whose support is crumbling, and of course the bombshell that’s set to burst officially tomorrow about another $2 trillion being added to the White House’s deficit projections. Things are, it’s safe to say, well and truly wee-wee’d up.

Note the data point below. Now you know why Michael Steele’s suddenly a big fan of Medicare.

The other demographic that’s showing a steep drop-off? Households that earn $90,000 or more, down eight points in just two weeks as they brace themselves to be soaked in fulfillment of The One’s utopian dreams. Exit question: How soon before Obama follows Clinton’s lead and embraces the small-government centrist Democrat within? Not before the midterms, I’d guess.

Interesting 90,000 could die? According to CNN (As of July 31, the total number of victims killed by the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu, stood at 1,154 — an increase of 338 since WHO’s previous update on July 27.) So 88,846 people are going to die by years end.
I think that you are right to be suspicious about that considering that the Obama Admin. released that information. Nothing like scaring people into supporting a health care bill. Seriously what’s next, the Boogey Man?
Emphasis mine.

milwife88 on August 24, 2009 at 9:27 PM

The real question is what 60% of 18-29 group that still support him are thinking?

TopLawyer on August 24, 2009 at 8:32 PM

Take a look at the history and other textbooks they learned from throughout their entire years in public school. It is all “multiculturalism” and how imperialistic America has been. They like Obama because he is a pop star and he is multiculturally cool. That is the extent of their critical thinking skills.

If 60% still approve of Obama at this stage, they are brainwashed, and nothing will change their opinions.

The problem is her district doesn’t represent anywhere near the majority of districts that elected the democrats to congress, which is why having her as their leader is foolish.

wildcat84 on August 24, 2009 at 9:24 PM

I don’t totally agree. I know you’re saying that she and her constituents aren’t like the majority of Americans but that only means she probably shouldn’t be setting policy (leave that to Hoyer?). But if you’re worried about losing your leaders at reelection time (i.e. Daschle, maybe Reid) then having Pelosi as Speaker makes perfect sense: she has to be in one of the safest seat in the U.S.

Like 0bama, Nan’s too much of an egotist to recognize that there are limits to their own personal power, even when failing to do so is self destructive.

Ironically, I can see where Nan might not be so safe, not even in San Francisco, because they think that as Speaker, if she doesn’t succeed in “Rahming” single payer through the house that she’s not “one of them”, and very well COULD unseat her by running another lefty against her in the primaries.

Some of the folks I know that are in that age group are coming to. But, the admission to one’s self that one has been punked may be hard to swallow, so I think that is working for the Zero…. for now.
-
Plus, a guess here… It’s still not cool to talk bad about the One. This keeps the cure for the koolade from working as quickly as it could (it does not spread so well in silence and numb denial). If… and when he loses the youth, that will be devastating…
-
Side of topic… I haven’t seen an Obama bumper-sticker for maybe a week, and the sun seems just a bit brighter on the way home from work lately.

You hit the nail on the head. He’s out of control and losing his composure. Nimrod and the Fish have to get him under wraps and reshape his message.

When the Traitor-in-Chief tried to threaten the bank CEOs saying, “My administration is the only thing standing between you and the pitchforks”, he didn’t realize what that really meant.

Nothing unusual, the moron in the White House doesn’t understand much of anything.

Now we know why Holder announced a Grand Inquisitor to go after “CIA interrogators”. This is their way of taking us back to BLAME BOOOSH! It got him elected, and he’s hoping it will get him back into the public’s good graces.

Yeah, they OD’d on the hope and change koolaid, but they do show the strongest trend line in the proper direction! Of course, they have the most future to lose…

Then there’s the 30-49 and 50-64 group that actually increased in the last week- these are the ones that responded (slightly) to the recent big push by the one. Damn hippie boomers.

The only problem is that clinton hit a low of 41% and lost both houses of congress during the midterm and that guy was still re-elected. And another problem is that in 4 years, the business cycle will probably cycle through. Therefore, the 2012 economy will probably be alright. And then the messiah will take credit for it. And also, don’t forget, the guy’s got a billion dollars from the first hopeandchange. Not to mention the bootlicking liberal media who’s going to shill for him at any cost.

CIA torturegate is a smokescreen. The Stimulus bill and Health care have been written by the Apollo Alliance: SEIU, ACORN, the AFL-CIO and others. WHEN will the media talk about this? OR, about Obama’s Green Jobs Csar being a Communist Party member as recently as 2003?

crickets chirping.

davecatbone on August 25, 2009 at 8:18 AM

Forty percent STRONGLY DISAPPROVE of OBAMA and his policies, yet only 41 percent give their disapproval in the poll a difference of only ONE percent who mildly disapprove of Obama? Something fishy here. You have 27 percent strongly approving of Obama and his policies and supposedly have another 25 percent moderately supporting/approving him (to give the 52 percent ‘approval’ rating. Something is rotten in the state of liberal polling.

I don’t get this talk about Obama losing his base. So the far left nuts are upset with him…so what? Does anyone seriously believe they won’t vote for him again in 2012? Does anyone think there will be a strong Democratic adversary for him in 2012? Hillary? Pfft! Obama could wee-wee all over the far left nutjobs and they will always vote for him.

If there’s a bloc that continues to favor this guy after he lies directly to their face or denigrates them openly, then they deserve to be buried under the island that he’s going to find himself on here in a few years.

Precisely. I can’t believe how naive my fellow HotAirheads are. My god, do you know nothing about history?

Leftists have successfully destroyed virtually every free society that has ever existed, and they’ve done it in virtually the same way every time. What we’re seeing is the inevitability that is a mature, free society.

Can anyone name any time since this leftist slide started in America that it was rolled back, even a little? No, you can’t, because it has never happened. This ride only goes one way, and that way is totalitarianism.

I confess, it had never occured to me that it would happen within my lifetime, let alone my kid’s, but it is here and large announcements about how bad the next election is gonna be for the leftists is the worst kind of wishful thinking. They know exactly what they’re doing, and they rarely miscalculate. The last time that happened was 1994. Do you really think they don’t remember something that recent???

True. I suspect his approval ratings are really in the mid 40′s. He’s sinking faster than the Titanic. Truth is revealed in sunlight (the best disinfectant) as MM always says. He’s not so much an idiot…rather a puppeted, ideologue with a cool demeanor, the ability to relate to the masses in a hypnotic way, and really radical, ideologic friends and associates. This is all falling apart, however. The fact that he is not really running the show is what is scary. 3+ years can either feel like a century or move as fast as the speed of light, when you have this kind of atmosphere. I believe the regular folks will prevail.

Nalea on August 25, 2009 at 11:45 AM

The reason that Obama is doing horrible is because he is now pissing off every person by getting gov’t into everyone’s household except the lowest class. He is beyond messing with conservatives. He is now messing with old people, car mechanics, and talking debts bigger than ever which messes with inflation (every business). He has spent more money in 8 months than all other presidents combined. He did not inherent that. Plain and simple. Ratings will be in the 24% by year 4, only blacks and extremists will vote for him. We have to hold the damage to a minimum.
