They really have no excuse. They probably had best co-operation given any incoming administration. They had from November to January to get started and they are still screwing around.

Maybe they are not really serious about governing as part of a Republic. They have Obama and the Czars.

[...] The real question is why the national media hasn’t discovered this before, as the NYT puts it, 15% of Obama’s presidency has expired. A competent executive with the kind of advantage Obama has in the Senate would have filled these positions by now, and a competent news media would have pointed it out before August. (via Allahpundit) [...]

....Mrs. Clinton expressed the exasperation of many in the administration last month when she was asked by A.I.D. employees why they did not have a chief. “The clearance and vetting process is a nightmare,” she told them. “And it takes far longer than any of us would want to see. It is frustrating beyond words.”...

...“Anyone who has gone through it or looked at this process will tell you that every administration it gets worse and it gets more cumbersome,” Mrs. Clinton said last month. “And some very good people, you know, just didn’t want to be vetted.” She added: “You have to hire lawyers, you have to hire accountants. I mean, it is ridiculous.”

Well, well, well...

Imagine what it's like trying to run a business now, Mrs. Clinton. Your intrusive ways have come full circle and bit you right in your fat a$$.

These people are a laughing stock.

I thought it was funny when Barry said running a presidential campaign was proof that he had enough executive experience to run the Executive Branch.
AZCoyote on August 24, 2009 at 8:00 AM

Even if he did run the show, the statement is absolutely absurd. Campaigning and leading are totally different things. As the filthy liar in the White House has learned, campaign promises often are easier to make than to keep.

Actually, he didn’t write either book. They were ghost written. And I doubt if he actually ran his own campaigns.

So his biggest achievements so far are voting “present” and learning how to read from a teleprompter.

I thought it was funny when Barry said running a presidential campaign was proof that he had enough executive experience to run the Executive Branch. Barry didn't run his presidential campaign. David Axelrod did. IIRC, I think Axelrod ran Barry's Senate campaign too. Don't know who ran Barry's campaign for a seat in Congress -- that he lost. Maybe that was Barry.

who in their right mind would volunteer to go to Treasury?
ajacksonian on August 24, 2009 at 7:35 AM

Anybody who wants to add to their resume with an appointed position in government.

The real point here is that eight months into the filthy liar's reign of terror, there shouldn't be these gaps. Perhaps if the bastard had spent less time destroying America and more time putting his team in place, his poll numbers would be better and the public wouldn't be one government takeover from revolt.

I am pretty sure that we can get a new reality show spin-off from the Obama Administration.

Dancing with the Czars.

Mind you there are still a LOT of empty seats underneath the various missing top people in the Administration. Has Geithner found anyone to step into the coming buzz-saw at Treasury, yet? And given how bad TARP, the porkapalooza stimulus, home mortgage system, cash 4 clunkers, etc. have not been working, who in their right mind would volunteer to go to Treasury?

This does point out the problem of trying to run the economy with government intervention: it puts the keys to the kingdom in the hands of the few and unaccountable. And, yes, the swings of the 19th century were bad, but the country never had a Great Depression without federal intervention. Ditto turning a short recession into something worse... if most of the rest of the world is out of the recession and only those countries with 'activist' governments are still in it (US, UK, Italy) then there might be a problem to this 'public spending' to curb a recession concept.

Say, if the health care system is so 'broken' then how does making it bigger with the same problems 'fix it'? And the 'public' option works in countries like Switzerland, but they have universal military conscription, too, so they are treating vets. Germany is trying to bail out a massive portion of its middle and upper class from the public system and won't show its cards on the satisfaction levels of the public there who DON'T have continuous care from a few doctors but switch lines and get whoever is available... and their medical history is not known in depth by any of them. France has the problem of the AUG vacation getting people killed when the doctors and staff are at the beach. Canada sends people to the US for quick treatments. The UK is into rationing and expecting folks who make enough money to get private insurance to get better treatment...

Note that last. You pay for everyone via taxes. The wealthy are told to get insurance. The poor get rationed services, poorer care, and less care. In America you may go broke getting care but you can GET THE CARE in a timely and expedient fashion by doctors that actually know you and your problems. A quick read of a chart doesn't do that. Knowing you does that.

But then this Administration doesn't seem to have much of anyone who knows a damned thing about the health care industry in it. I would prefer that the President, VP, SCOTUS and all members of Congress get VA care. And not be allowed any private insurance, so Congress could understand what the problem of 'public health care' actually IS. But this Administration can't 'fix' Medicare, can't 'fix' the VA, can't 'fix' the economy, can't 'fix' GM and Chrysler, and can't even run a used car trade-in system efficiently. At this rate the Administration could hire used car salesmen to staff all the vacant positions to get a bump up in the level of trustworthiness and competence.

Hard to believe that a community street agitator who’s two biggest achievements are writing books about himself and running election campaigns, doesn’t have a clue about running a country.

Oh, horse hockey! I want to see a comparison of his staff and past administrations. And even if this were true, who’s fault would it be. Just another cover for incompetence.

I want numbers too. There was some spinning going on in that article. So Obama has fewer than 43% of top positions filled - how many did Bush have filled at this point in 2001? And I want a direct comparison between Obama's "more intact national security team" and Bush's. The 9/11 slam was gratuitous. Bet you anything Obama's team is in worse shape.

And the article gives us two examples of Hillary kvetching about how arduous and "ridiculous" the vetting process is. Um, that's because these are sorta kinda extremely high security positions. I'm grateful the slimy Clintonistas and current Obama cronies couldn't get in.

I don’t care what the “bigger minds” think. They can poo poo Ayn Rand and pure capitalism all they like, but everywhere socialism has been tried it has failed. Period. Even in the soft tyrannical socialist Europe of today they are facing unemployment in the 20% including Germany, France and Britain. John Galt lives in the hearts of every American capitalist. America will always be strong as long as we don’t lose the capitalist spirit. That is why it is so important for us to defeat socialized healthcare because once we commodify life, we have truly given up our liberty.

The worst result of Capitalism run amok is some people fail and eventually price fixing through trusts and monopoly occurs....

the best result of socialism is the nation eventually fails and we have price-fixing by fake Olympians who sit in offices and make pretty speeches in front of styrofoam columns and there is no escaping the government trusts and monopolies.

Seriously. We can’t impeach him. Want to hear something scarier? I’m serious here. SCARIER?

PRESIDENT BIDEN, Here is your morning briefing

alohapundit on August 23, 2009 at 9:55 PM

Biden is far less dangerous to this country and its ideals than Obama.

But you’re right…we can’t impeach him. Too many Democrats in the House.

anuts on August 24, 2009 at 5:07 A

The problem with that is it would quickly become evident that Biden either has a severe mental problem, or is of such low intelligence, that he states the stupid things he does. The world would soon know him for being a moron and he might be removed from office for incompetence before a VP could be found, which would leave Pelosi next in line.

At this point I think leaving the positions empty will do less damage than filling them with anybody Obama-nation would appoint.

Biden can not be a worse president than Obama-nation.

I never know if this is a true question or a statement.
I’m pretty sure it’s the latter. For those of you who have never read the Ayn Rand book, “Atlas Shrugged”, it is quite topical. I read it in my twenties, and although the bigger minds do dismiss it as junk and quasi-intellectual drivel, at this point and time, I wish that everyone would give it a go.
Quite the eye-opener.
