Quote of the day

posted at 9:29 pm on August 23, 2009 by Allahpundit

“He is trying to fix the financial markets but does not have an assistant treasury secretary for financial markets. He is spending more money on transportation than anyone since Dwight D. Eisenhower but does not have his own inspector general watching how the dollars are used. He is fighting two wars but does not have an Army secretary.

He sent Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to Africa to talk about international development but does not have anyone running the Agency for International Development. He has invited major powers to a summit on nuclear nonproliferation but does not have an assistant secretary of state for nonproliferation. He has vowed to improve government efficiency but does not have the chief performance officer he promised.

‘If you’re running G.M. without half your senior executives in place, are you worried? I’d say your stockholders would be going nuts,’ said Terry Sullivan, a professor at the University of North Carolina and executive director of the White House Transition Project, which tracks appointments.”

And here’s Uncle Hugo (and pal Prof Ayers) remaking education again:

Venezuelan police have fired teargas to stop thousands of protesters against a new education law from breaking past a security cordon in the capital Caracas.

Protesters accuse the government of President Hugo Chavez of indoctrinating children into backing socialist values.

The law requires schools to base their teaching on “the Bolivarian Doctrine” – a reference to the ideals of 19th Century independence hero Simon Bolivar, such as Latin American unity and national self-determination.

A previous attempt at education reform was one of the factors that led to mass protests in 2002, eventually culminating in a failed coup attempt against Mr Chavez.

Obama’s economic plan will work perfectly. I have worked it all out mathematically.

Let me see now, four million times five million is twelve million, and four billion times six billion is thirteen billion, and four trillion times seven trillion is … … oh my! We shall never get to economic recovery and prosperity at that rate! However, the multiplication table doesn’t really apply. Let’s try geography. Iraq borders Pakistan, the center of the Universe was Iraq but now it’s Afghanistan, America has 57 states, Minnesota is in the tropics. No, that’s all wrong, But geography doesn’t really apply either, I’m certain! Let’s try religion. Jews were behind 9/11, Palestinians are victims, Saudi Arabia is our good friend and Islam is a great religion of peace. No, that’s all wrong too! Maybe if Obama just starts over and this time he reads the directions then perhaps directly he will be able to direct us all in the right direction.

In Chicago, many were called but few ethical or sane people accepted these tainted positions. They suddenly found their inner gift of prophecy and rejected the siren call of The Won and his faithful. In short, they didn’t want to end up in the rung of hell being reserved for this administration or to end their rising careers or, finally, end up in jail. Zero can’t even find legit people to fill legit positions to cover for the Czars, the lies and general incompetence. And Chicago is just little city! I seriously doubt that the spawn of Richard Nixon would jump into this incompetent snake pit.

We need to come up with a term that sums up this disaster of a presidency. Catastrophe is just not adequate, we need a word that is unique to this particular fiasco.

We could just start using Obama as a synonym for failure. For example,

“I studied all night, but I still Obamad the test”

“The plane crash left limbs, viscera, and the still screaming scattered over the hillside, the lone survivor described the event as a complete Obama.”

Obamdenberg? Obamastrophe? I feel like it’s on the tip of my tongue but I can’t quite grasp it.

YehuditTX on August 24, 2009 at 2:16 AM

I know it is pretty late, although only a little after 11:00 on west coast. It seems the question always boils down to; is this sheer and pure ignorance on Obama’s part, as in, everything he has touted or touched is a complete fiasco and disaster, or, is it some other, very sinister, very well orchestrated plan to utterly destroy America as we’ve known it?

He left, on Friday, with the huge announcement that the deficit would be much, much larger than anticipated, like 2
trillion dollars more.

To me, this pretty much kills the entire ObamaCare plan. Where in the world would the money for this monstrosity come from? I don’t care if Polosi puts her left hand out and grasps at air and says, with a smirkish grin that they’ll find the money somewhere. It is nowhere to be had.

A true man, especially the president of the United States, would have not gone on a vacation, but instead would have had everyone, working day and night, to figure out how to balance the budget.

Not him, however. He feels he deserves the relaxation.

I think a lot about how people see him. Mostly, I wonder how other men can even consider this sappy, infantile, idiot, as one of their own. I wouldn’t even want him as part of the female sex. Nothing about him is appealing. And he is grossly stupid.

The problem with that is it would quickly become evident that Biden either has a severe mental problem, or is of such low intelligence, that he states the stupid things he does. The world would soon know him for being a moron and he might be removed from office for incompetence before a VP could be found, which would leave Pelosi next in line.

I want numbers too. There was some spinning going on in that article. So Obama has fewer than 43% of top positions filled – how many did Bush have filled at this point in 2001? And I want a direct comparison between Obama’s “more intact national security team” and Bush’s. The 9/11 slam was gratuitous. Bet you anything Obama’s team is in worse shape.

And the article gives us two examples of Hillary kvetching about how arduous and “ridiculous” the vetting process is. Um, that’s because these are sorta kinda extremely high security positions. I’m grateful the slimy Clintonistas and current Obama cronies couldn’t get in.

Daggett on August 24, 2009 at 7:34 AM

I am pretty sure that we can get a new reality show spin-off from the Obama Administration.

Dancing with the Czars.

Mind you there are still a LOT of empty seats underneath the various missing top people in the Administration. Has Geithner found anyone to step into the coming buzz-saw at Treasury, yet? And given how bad TARP, the porkapalooza stimulus, home mortgage system, cash 4 clunkers, etc. have not been working, who in their right mind would volunteer to go to Treasury?

This does point out the problem of trying to run the economy with government intervention: it puts the keys to the kingdom in the hands of the few and unaccountable. And, yes, the swings of the 19th century were bad, but the country never had a Great Depression without federal intervention. Ditto turning a short recession into something worse… if most of the rest of the world is out of the recession and only those countries with ‘activist’ governments are still in it (US, UK, Italy) then there might be a problem to this ‘public spending’ to curb a recession concept.

Say, if the health care system is so ‘broken’ then how does making it bigger with the same problems ‘fix it’? And the ‘public’ option works in countries like Switzerland, but they have universal military conscription, too, so they are treating vets. Germany is trying to bail out a massive portion of its middle and upper class from the public system and won’t show its cards on the satisfaction levels of the public there who DON’T have continuous care from a few doctors but switch lines and get whoever is available… and their medical history is not known in depth by any of them. France has the problem of the AUG vacation getting people killed when the doctors and staff are at the beach. Canada sends people to the US for quick treatments. The UK is into rationing and expecting folks who make enough money to get private insurance to get better treatment…

Note that last. You pay for everyone via taxes. The wealthy are told to get insurance. The poor get rationed services, poorer care, and less care. In America you may go broke getting care but you can GET THE CARE in a timely and expedient fashion by doctors that actually know you and your problems. A quick read of a chart doesn’t do that. Knowing you does that.

But then this Administration doesn’t seem to have much of anyone who knows a damned thing about the health care industry in it. I would prefer that the President, VP, SCOTUS and all members of Congress get VA care. And not be allowed any private insurance, so Congress could understand what the problem of ‘public health care’ actually IS. But this Administration can’t ‘fix’ Medicare, can’t ‘fix’ the VA, can’t ‘fix’ the economy, can’t ‘fix’ GM and Chrysler, and can’t even run a used car trade-in system efficiently. At this rate the Administration could hire used car salesmen to staff all the vacant positions to get a bump up in the level of trustworthiness and competence.

ajacksonian on August 24, 2009 at 7:35 AM

ajacksonian on August 24, 2009 at 7:35 AM

Anybody who wants to add to their resume with an appointed position in government.

The real point here is that eight months into the filthy liar’s reign of terror, there shouldn’t be these gaps. Perhaps if the bastard had spent less time destroying America and more time putting his team in place, his poll numbers would be better and the public wouldn’t be one government takeover from revolt.

David Axelrod did. IIRC, I think Axelrod ran Barry’s Senate campaign too. Don’t know who ran Barry’s campaign for a seat in Congress — that he lost. Maybe that was Barry.

Even if he did run the show, the statement is absolutely absurd. Campaigning and leading are totally different things. As the filthy liar in the White House has learned, campaign promises often are easier to make than to keep.

By now, you have to be living under a rock, or all wee wee’d up, to not know the Joker lies.

The POS pres is too busy campaigning and vacationing to fill those positions. What a moron.

P.S. What’s the over under on Obama having a Deck Chair Czar?

MirCat on August 24, 2009 at 8:28 AM

Who needs ‘em, we got czars! All the benes with no accountability! Silly peasant, appointing nominees is for kids.

Hmmmmm…

…apparently all the positions at the IRS are filled, though.

….Mrs. Clinton expressed the exasperation of many in the administration last month when she was asked by A.I.D. employees why they did not have a chief. “The clearance and vetting process is a nightmare,” she told them. “And it takes far longer than any of us would want to see. It is frustrating beyond words.”…

…“Anyone who has gone through it or looked at this process will tell you that every administration it gets worse and it gets more cumbersome,” Mrs. Clinton said last month. “And some very good people, you know, just didn’t want to be vetted.” She added: “You have to hire lawyers, you have to hire accountants. I mean, it is ridiculous.”

Well, well, well…

Imagine what it’s like trying to run a business now, Mrs. Clinton. Your intrusive ways have come full circle and bit you right in your fat a$$.

These people are a laughing stock.

They really have no excuse. They probably had best co-operation given any incoming administration. They had from November to January to get started and they are still screwing around.

Maybe they are not really serious about governing as part of a Republic. They have Obama and the Czars.

PS:

I should have said Obama, the Czars, the media and the civilian defence arm Organizing for America.
