Video: Marine goes nuclear on Democrat over ObamaCare

posted at 4:48 pm on August 22, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via, er, HotAirPundit, red meat courtesy of the good folks who hijacked our last thread. The Democrat in question is Brian “Brown Shirts” Baird, thus the pounding he takes here is extra gratifying. Not sure I follow the Marine’s point about what right the feds have to tell him he can keep his insurance plan, though. Presumably he’s making a Commerce Clause argument a la Rivkin and Casey, but if growing weed on your own farm for your own use constitutes “quintessentially” economic activity, wouldn’t a program that affects 15 percent of the entire U.S. economy also qualify? If the public wants single-payer, hey — that’s democracy, red in tooth and claw.

That was a clear representation of the real anger about what Obama, and his Dems are trying to do–hijack the market economy and make it socialist. We should follow that Marine’s example and defend the Constitution against enemies, foreign and DOMESTIC. Defend it will all of our strength and energy. WE WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED BY OBAMA’S GOONS.

When Congressman say we will be allowed to keep our Health Insurance, a line has been crossed.

If the public wants single-payer, hey — that’s democracy, red in tooth and claw.

The point is the people don’t want it. Yet Congress apparently intends to force it upon us anyway. Again, the line will be crossed. It’s a matter of freedom and liberty.

When the government no longer fears nor respects the will of the people we cross from a republic into something else. We are fast approaching tyranny.

jhffmn on August 22, 2009 at 5:03 PM

Not sure I follow the Marine’s point about what right the feds have to tell him he can keep his insurance plan, though.

That’s no surprise.

Presumably he’s making a Commerce Clause argument a la Rivkin and Casey,

Huh? WHo is making this argument? The commerce clause is the only possible argument the federal government could possibly make, but it is a joke of an argument and the feds aren’t even trying. The feds are claiming the power to be able to open up a company in order to “provide competition” to the private sector, as they have said thousands of times, now. The federal government hasn’t even bothered trying to find any Constitutional justification for their insane takeover of health care. Probably because none exists.

but if growing weed on your own farm for your own use constitutes “quintessentially” economic activity, wouldn’t a program that affects 15 percent of the entire U.S. economy also qualify?

I have no idea what you are trying to say. Are you claiming that the federal government has the power to do anything it wants? You sound like a liberal. One bad decision does not allow for the complete destruction of our entire system. That is foolishness of the highest order.

If the public wants single-payer, hey — that’s democracy, red in tooth and claw.

We don’t live in a Democracy. I thought you were supposed to be a lawyer, or something.

I haven’t even looked at the video, too slow, but I’ll lay very high odds you are right. And it goes straight to the main point – that the royalist, in their own minds, politicians think that anything they don’t take away from us peasants is some kind of gift from them.

MB4 on August 22, 2009 at 5:05 PM

If the public wants single-payer, hey — that’s democracy, red in tooth and claw.

Perhaps, but according to our Constitution we are not a pure Democracy.

If the federal government is not empowered to socialize healthcare, and it is not, then it cannot legally do so.

Hmm, speaking of which, since Obama is setting a precedent that the president has no obligation to enforce laws if he does not feel like it – see the black panther case – couldn’t a conservative president stop enforcing most of the federal register on the basis of it being unconstitutional?

If the public wants single-payer, hey — that’s democracy, red in tooth and claw.

And what if the public doesn’t want it and it is till rammed down our throats?? What, then, is that called??
I will say this, though,,, so what if the public did want something tomorrow that fundamentally changed our nation,, our way of government. Does the public just get it by congressional vote???
A government takeover of health care is really just government takeover of the people. We all become GIs! Government Issued! Property of the State! Is that not in direct contrast to our founding documents?? There is an amendment process to change our constitution! If they want government health care,, then do it through the amendment process! Then,, yes,, it would be legal! Our nation would be changed! Our liberty, our freedom gone! But yes,, it would be legal! That would be democracy! What this government is attempting is a coup!!

economic activity, wouldn’t a program that affects 15 percent of the entire U.S. economy also qualify?

No. They can’t force an individual mandate on you using the commerce clause because you are not a producer, grower, or distributor of healthcare.

The otherwise uninsured would be required to buy coverage, not because they were even tangentially engaged in the “production, distribution or consumption of commodities,” but for no other reason than that people without health insurance exist. The federal government does not have the power to regulate Americans simply because they are there.

Now they think that being able to get into our bank accounts will be tolerated by way of the new government sponsored health care. They had no idea that we thought this to be offensive. Excellent.

Herein is an object lesson for any of the trollish limp wristers out there. For every one of these Marines, there’s 150 more of us out here–defending freedom, from the ground level. We’ve seen tyranny, we’ve seen the effect of governments that run their people and their countries into the ground for their own agendas–and believe us—you don’t want that here.

This Marine speaks for many of us. Stay away from our kids, stay away from our decisions, stay away from our lives, and you better think twice about even batting a stink eye our way. There’s a conservative tidal wave that’s soon to crush panty waists like this empty suit Congressman. We’ve had it, we’ve had enough. No more mister nice guy. The words spoken by this Marine should have been spoken 60 years ago in this country. We’ve been going down the Socialist path since WWII.

Well … it’s better late than never. I think we are at the beginning of the end-game for Socialism in America. We can’t sustain it, it was going to die (and catastrophically). Maybe God ordained for Obama to become President so that the libbies could experience on last euphoric moment of nostalgia before watching their philosophy go up in smoke.

HondaV65 on August 22, 2009 at 5:18 PM

Speaking of town halls, have you seen this letter from a person who turned out for Obama’s town hall meeting in Montana last week?
Written by Kathy who lives in Bozeman, MT, who was there.

Hello All,
By now you have probably heard that President Obama came to
Montana last Friday. However, there are many things that the major news has not covered. I feel that since Bill and I live here and we were at the airport on Friday I should share some facts with you. Whatever you decide to do with the information is up to you. If you chose to share this email with others I do ask that you DELETE my email address before you forward this on.
On Wednesday, August 5th it was announced locally that the President would be coming here. There are many groups here that are against his healthcare and huge spending so those groups began talking and deciding on what they were going to do. The White House would not release ANY details other than the date.
On about Tuesday Bill found out that they would be holding the “Town Hall” at the airport. (This is only because Bill knows EVERYONE at the airport) Our airport is actually situated outside of Belgrade (tiny town) in a very remote location. Nothing is around there. They chose to use a hangar that is the most remotely located hangar. You could not pick a more remote location, and you can not get to it easily. It is totally secluded from the public.
FYI: We have many areas in Belgrade and Bozeman which could have held a large amount of folks with sufficient parking(gymnasiums/auditoriums). All of which have chairs and tables, and would not have to be SHIPPED IN!! $$$$$
During the week, cargo by the TONS was being shipped in constantly. Airport employees could not believe how it just kept coming. Though it was our President coming several expressed how excessive it was, especially during a recession. $$$$$
Late Tuesday/early Wednesday the 12th, they said that tickets would be handed out on Thursday 9am at two locations and the president would be arriving around 12:30 Friday.
Thursday morning about 600 tickets were passed out. However, 1500 were printed at a Local printing shop per White House request. Hmmmm……900 tickets just DISAPPEARED.
That same morning someone called into the radio station from the local UPS branch and said that THOUSANDS of dollars worth of Lobster were shipped in for Obama. Montana has some of the best beef in the nation!!! And it would have been really wonderful to help out the local economy. Anyone heard of Recession?? Just think…with all of the traveling the White House is doing. $$$$$ One can only imagine what else we are paying for.
On Friday, Bill and I got out to the airport about 10:45am. The groups that wanted to protest Obama’s spending and healthcare had gotten a permit to protest and that area was roped off. But that was not to be. A large bus carrying SEIU (Service Employees International Union)members drove up onto the area (illegal)and unloaded right there. It was
quite a commotion and there were specifically 2 SEIU men trying to make trouble and start a fight. Police did get involved and arrested the one man but they said they did not have the manpower to remove the SEIU crowd. The SEIU crowd was very organized and young. About 99% were under the age of 30 and they were not locals! They had bullhorns and PROFESSIONALLY made signs. Some even wore preprinted T-shirts. Oh, and Planned Parenthood folks were with them…..professing abortion rights with their T-shirts and preprinted signs. (BTW, all these folks did have a permit to protest in ANOTHER area)
Those against healthcare/spending moved away from the SEIU crowd to avoid confrontation. They were orderly and respectful. Even though SEIU kept coming over and walking through, continuing to be very intimidating and aggressive at the direction of the one SEIU man.
So we had Montana folks from ALL OVER the state with their homemade signs and their DOGS with homemade signs. We had cowboys, nurses, doctors you name it. There was even a guy from Texas who had been driving through. He found out about the occasion, went to the store, made a sign, and came to protest.
If you are wondering about the press…..Well, all of the major networks were over by that remote hangar I mentioned. They were conveniently parked on the other side of the buildings FAR away. None of these crowds were even visible to them. I have my doubts that they knew anything about the crowds. We did have some local news media around us from this state and Idaho. Speaking of the local media…they were invited. However, all questions were to be turned into the White House in advance of the event. Wouldn’t want anyone to have to think off the top of their head.
It was very obvious that it was meant to be totally controlled by the White House. Everything was orchestrated down to the last detail to make it appear that Montana is just crazy for Obama and government healthcare. Even those people that talked about their insurance woes……..the White House called our local HRDC (Human Resource and Development Committee) and asked for names. Then the White House asked those folks to come. Smoke and mirrors… EVERYTHING was staged!!!!
I am very dismayed about what I learned about our current White House. The amount of control and manipulation was unbelievable. I felt I was not living in the United States of America , more like the USSR !! I was physically nauseous. Bill and I have been around when Presidents or heads of State visit. It has NEVER been like this. I am truly very frightened for our country. America needs your prayers and your voices.
If you care about our country please get involved. Know the issues. And let Congress hear your voices again and again!! If they are willing to put forth so much effort to BULLY a small town one can only imagine what is going on in Washington DC . Scary!!

No. They can’t force an individual mandate on you using the commerce clause because you are not a producer, grower, or distributor of healthcare.

Sure they can. Every mother produces health care when she provides nutrients through her blood to her babies’ placentae, and her kidneys filter out their waste products. Then after they’re born and they get a widdle boo-boo (Precedent Obama has defined the level of discourse here with “wee-wee”) and she puts some Bactine and a Band-aid on it, she’s distributing health care from those who produce those products. The rest of us provide some of the health care we ourselves consume any time we use similar products, or just by watching what we eat or getting some exercise. Have you ever taken a vitamin or over-the-counter medicine of any kind? BAM! You’re a health-care provider!

See how easy it is? I could be a freaking Justice!

this shows your ignorance to what insurance is actually all about. It is to protect you for future loss, nobody can buy car insurance once a car is crashed. Same thing with health insurance.

This show your ignorance of reality. For those of us other wise healthy individuals, we can’t get problems like chronic kidney stones covered, so when we need the occasional treatments we go into 5 figure debt that piles up with the high deductibles for other issues.

The insurance system stinks and needs a change.

If you can’t get coverage for what ails you, what’s the point? Is it just for cnacer or getting hit by a bus?

Semper Fidelis: Always Faithful

We have taken an oath, and that oath had meaning. It’s not meant to be used as a punchline at your Washington parties. You pencil necks better get used to having your lives turned upside down. That whole feet-on-the-desk bit and drinks at 5 up in DC crap is OVER! All those pay raises you’ve voted in, and gold plated health plans–well guess what jack–the other boot is dropping and it’s time to pay the piper. That there is one pissed off Marine, and he alone will go through your district like a GD buzzsaw, you’ll be happy if you get something lucky like a hanging chad at your next election, jack— there’s a new sheriff in town– kicking ass and taking initials, ain’t got time for names.

It’s isn’t about what they want for themselves. It’s more about and their sadistic desire for control over others..

Saltysam on August 22, 2009 at 5:17 PM

Closer to the truth in my opinion Salty.

thomasaur on August 22, 2009 at 5:23 PM

I think Rep Baird might have had matching brown shorts for his brown shirt after that fine marine finished that verbal drubbing… well done!

Presumably Michelle Malkin will be livid about the use dissenters by the right who possess an “absolute moral authority card”.

BRAVO!! BRAVO!! BRAVO!! I went all tingly listening to this BRAVE MARINE!!

Ballsy gutsy WOW!! I applauded like he could hear me!!

Onward Forward and Upward!!

RoxanneH on August 22, 2009 at 5:23 PM

I too am perplexed by your confusion on this AP, when the man said it plain, and clear. He thanked Mr.Baird, in a sarcastic way, then went on to say….because it’s not Mr. Bairds right to take his insurance away in the first place.

This guy said it like it is. Clear, concise, and from his gut, and heart. Kudos to him. I’m in tears at his loyalty to his country, and for striking back. He fought against, what the President, and his liberal pals are trying to force on this country. He’s angry, and he has every right to be!!!!

capejasmine on August 22, 2009 at 5:24 PM

I wonder when the leftist trashing of this Marine will commence.

darwin on August 22, 2009 at 5:07 PM

Already looking into his service, tax, driving and employment records, no doubt.

Midas on August 22, 2009 at 5:25 PM

AP doesn’t get that the video speaks for itself, no commentary required.

tessa on August 22, 2009 at 5:26 PM

This Marine speaks for many of us. Stay away from our kids, stay away from our decisions, stay away from our lives, and you better think twice about even batting a stink eye our way.

The ringing in that Congressmans ears is a mighty Oooh Rahh!–that’s soon going to rock his world.

“And before me stood a mighty soldier, with a drawn sword in his hand. “Are you for us, or for our enemies?” I asked. “Neither, I am the commander of the Army of the Lord, and I have now come.” –Joshua

the walls of Jericho are soon to come down. Recess rally today, march around the building once a day for 6 days and on the 7th, do it seven times and then yell Hooo Rahh and drop that building.

Yep–Mr. Baird. You’ve seen the beginning of the end.

welcome to your life.

This will go viral… outstanding. I have already forwarded & posted.

The few…the proud…the Marines

deedtrader on August 22, 2009 at 5:28 PM

Wow – lot of hate here for AP. It seems to me that he just didn’t hear it the way some of the rest of us did.

It happens – put the long knives away! ;)

Midas on August 22, 2009 at 5:28 PM

thus the pounding he takes here is extra gratifying

Beautiful! A skillful pounding of a socialist democrap slug delivered by one of our beloved United States Marines. Awesome

Zorro on August 22, 2009 at 5:29 PM

See that, David Frum!? That’s how you deal w/ the statist! Someone forward this to powell and that fat A$$ meghan mccain!

WhatsRight on August 22, 2009 at 5:29 PM

If the public wants single-payer, hey — that’s democracy, red in tooth and claw.

There is a point to be made with this. As I recall, so many here defended Prop. 8 by saying “the people spoke” and “majority rules”…So wouldn’t the same apply to single-payer?

Just for the record, I’m totally against ObamaCare.

Who is this ‘hotairpundit’ anyway?

See how easy it is? I could be a freaking Justice!

The Monster on August 22, 2009 at 5:21 PM

OT: Don’t laugh Monster, after the court shot down many of FDR’s new deal, FDR retaliated by stacking the court. They rammed the New Deal through damaging the COnstitution in the process. One of the consequences was that they began interpreting the commerce clause very broadly.

They used absurd arguments exactly like the one you wrote tongue in cheek to justify all sorts of blatant power grabs. In the 90s, the court finally realized that the way commerce clause was being interpreted anything could be considered economic and the federal government could justify taking control of anything and everything so they said enough and stopped it.
