Obama: This irresponsible talk of “death panels” offends me
posted at 2:00 pm on August 22, 2009 by Allahpundit
I can’t decide which part I like best. The ode to “vigorous debate” from a guy who wanted a bill rammed through Congress before the recess? The tut-tutting about divisive rhetoric from the leader of a party that’s spent the past month demagoguing its opponents as evil-mongering political terrorists? Or the demand from Captain Deficit that we stop putting off until tomorrow the big problems that need solving today?
Actually, this part’s my favorite. From the man who famously told the AFL-CIO in 2003 that he was a big proponent of single-payer:
We’ve all heard the charge that reform will somehow bring about a government takeover of health care. I know that sounds scary to many folks. It sounds scary to me, too. But here’s the thing: it’s not true. I no sooner want government to get between you and your doctor than I want insurance companies to make arbitrary decisions about what medical care is best for you, as they do today. As I’ve said from the beginning, under the reform we seek, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your private health insurance plan, you can keep your plan. Period.
Totally true. And if that private plan you like so much ends up going under because it can’t compete with Uncle Sam’s bottomless pit of taxpayer funding, hey. Exit question: Does he really think running through the same stale talking points week after week is finally going to change the public’s attitude about this? As Fred Barnes notes, this day-in day-out garbage about keeping your plan, etc, has practically devolved into shtick at this point. It’s almost as if he can’t quite believe people might disagree with him, and that if only he keeps repeating himself, eventually his shining logic will seep into their brains. Hmmmm.

Thanks, AP for pointing out something that I’ve noticed for the last couple of weeks.
When someone criticizes something in the health plan, the Obama people just repeat part of their mantra, “we’re not going to take away your private insurance”, etc. They never bother to back up their statements with, you know, facts, or text from the bill or anything. We’re just supposed to take Obama’s word for it.
Exit question: those of you who have taken Obama at his word…how’s that workin’ out for you?
Chris of Rights on August 22, 2009 at 3:42 PM
Yeah, keep your doctor and your plan if you want to. Well, what if my plan or my doctor won’t keep me there champ. You may want to keep independents, but they sure ain’t keepin’ you these days…champ. You see Ivy League, it’s a two way street. No new converts to obamacare these days, i really, really doubt it. Ever since he gave the middle finger salute to Hillary and McCain, he has offended me. Hillary offends me for having no self-respect (we knew this anyway) and accepting the position of Sec. of State after this public display of a crude and infantile gesture.
Daily offenses pile up to the height of Mt. Everest.

Obamao has the mistaken idea that the federal government is Central Command and that all he has to do is implement his grandiose ideas through Central Command.
The federal government needs to get out of the way and let the people decide what they want with the least interference from that federal government. A free market in health insurance and health-care delivery offered by those most knowledgable about it and consumers most affected by it
would effect the necessary changes naturally.
Obamao’s Utopian Statist dream offends me. It is a nonstarter. Legislation with this much impact on the economy must of necessity be approached slowly and thoughtfully. And when statesmanlike effort is made, most will find that such bills will have to be gutted or rejected or rescinded because they are unconstitutional.
It is not change that the people object to, Mr. President. It is the type of change that you insist on and your method of imposing it that we find offensive.

His credibility, even to the gullible, is eroding quickly. Like the administration’s “management” of the clunkers give-away program (‘no one could have anticipated’ the administrative problems). Like the ‘acted stupidly’ state, emt. Like the, er, ‘stimulus’ results. His best case argument is that he is over his head. Other possible explanations include he actually listend to and agreed with Rev. Wright.

Those have got to hurt and worry him. As more people pick up the chant for Tort Reform the deeper in the wee wee he will get.
shmendrick on August 22, 2009 at 3:59 PM
The way to overcome opposition to your solution to any perceived problem is to elevate that problem to crisis status. That way, urgency overwhelms the need for debate and careful consideration. TARP and Porkulus, in retrospect, were rammed-through solutions to perceived crises that did nothing to abate the problems they purported to solve while creating whole new problems of their own.
I wonder if people aren’t starting to catch on that the boy is crying wolf just a bit too much.

This is the biggest bogus lie evah! A real whopper by Presidente WEE WEE! It shows either his ignorance, or his ability to flat out lie to get what he wants!
In our present system insurance companies do not decide what CARE we can HAVE, only what CARE they will PAY FOR.
The care is available to anyone willing to pay for it. The fact that Insurance companies may exclude PAYING FOR certain treatments does not limit the option of using them!
Excluding pre-existing conditions does not completely deny insurance, just, sometimes, insurance for pre-existing conditions. This is Insurance Companies way of controlling costs for all insured.
When Government takes over however it has been shown in EVERY case of Goberment healthcare:
options decline, service declines, costs increase and care is rationed!
Governments way of controlling costs!
We are currently free to PURCHASE the best HealthCare known to man and the best that we can afford. Individuals worldwide flock here for care they cannot get in their own Goberment run system.
Once Government takes control all that could very well end!

Average Americans fail to understand the enormous ramifications of 400,000 anchor babies born within the United States annually. They swamp our hospitals, ER wards and school systems. They cost taxpayers billions for ‘free’ breakfasts and lunches along with English as a Second Language classes. Most of them flunk out of high schools, at which point, they either become pregnant themselves or join gangs. As they turn to the dark side, they fill our prison systems.
Unlawful immigrants and their children make up 29 percent of our local, state and federal prisons at a cost of $2.2 billion annually. (Source: http://www.cis.org)
The mind-bending costs, according to Edwin Rubenstein, National Research Center, http://www.thesocialcontract.com , 2008 report, showed unlawful immigration costing American taxpayers $346 billion annually across 15 federal agencies.

Someone mentioned stay off my TV… (rambling off topic to follow).
Anyway, I watch maybe an hour of non-NFL TV a day, usually King of Queens reruns, since I have about 10 channels now and nothing is ever on.
Oh, yes, the point? Well some enterprising “debt-relief” company is using clips of The One in their ads – and the friggin’ thing is about 2 minutes long. At first I laughed at the sheer brilliance of it, some woman speaks in front of a pic of the Capitol or the White House. They have a news channel type ticker running (along with a tiny disclaimer), then it keeps cutting to Obama droning on and on. I laughed because what he was talking about had nothing to do with debt relief (they also have an ad for IRS back taxes relief).
How many dolts are calling that number, thinking this is some new Ogabe give-away?
Now I just yell and change the channel, I’m so sick of seeing him and hearing his voice.

Mr. Obama, YOU offend me, buster!!!
You’ve spent us into oblivion, and keep trying to blame others for it. Our country was in a pickle last year, but it was miniscule in comparison to the run away spending you, and your minions have done.
You all had an opening, and went for it. Rather than to it slow, and sure, and carefully. You went insane, and spent spent spent. Not only us, but future generations to come.
You are the offensive one. YOU should be holding your head in shame, at what you’ve done to this nation, in the name of change. I’m sick to death of your change.
Quit, while you’re ahead, and shut the hell up already. We don’t trust you, thus we don’t believe you. Maybe pay for your own vacations, like the rest of us have to, and perhaps maybe take less of them.
Your kids getting to the Grand Canyon on my dime, while my kids have never seen it sucks, but you don’t hear me incessantly whining about it. So cut the crap, man up, and maybe just sit quietly, and let some adults handle things for awhile.

It is an interesting paradox we have here. On the one hand stands a man, guilty of voting and promoting the murder of innocent children in the name of choice–an immoral stance. On the other hand, we have a man who speaks and legislates about death panels and euthanasia as if it were no big deal–human life has little to no value–then feigns he’s offended at any opposition to him.
When the immoral attempt to take a moral stance, it is like a snake inviting you in the pit so he can strangle you.
This is like a hooker complaining to a john that he’s “violated” her.
This is like Michael Vick saying he’s offended by meat eaters.
This is like Bernie Madoff saying he’s offended by thieves.
His argument is utterly ludicrous and is the most transparent case of lunacy I’ve ever witnessed. THIS is the transparency we’ve been waiting for—we can see right through you jack.

Your Boy Emperor is in my pocket. Most of your House is in my pocket. Most all of your Senate is in my pocket. I have bought off or blackmailed almost all of them now. A bunch of pesos here, several women there, a young boy for a few of them like, a little male attention for a certain ex Senator from New York. Her husband still neglects her something awful. Oh my Lord, the things she wants me to do to her. It makes my skin crawl, but it is for a good cause.
A little booze spread around. Alright a whole lot of gin for a certain Senator. Ay curumba, can he ever put it down. And his son, double ay curumba. That rehab stuff sure didn’t do him any good! I’m not even sure that he went. Telling a certain other Senator that I would get him a lot of media time, he loves that so much. I have even offered him and his poco empalma a muchacho their own 24×7 TV station. You have no chance GRINGOS.
Your Grandfathers kept you from having to learn German or Japanese or be lamp shades. But YOU ARE NOT the men or women that they were, not even close.
Once my people get their amnesty, most of them will come to what is still your country. They will all have at least 10 ninos and in a generation they will overwhelm and deport most of you Gringos! Some of you, if you learn Spanish real well, we might let you stay to pick our lettuce or mow our lawns or take care of THEIR children in what used to be your houses.
Those Gringos who don’t learn Spanish will be deported to Alaska. That is until Al Gore’s global warming heats things up and we want Alaska too, then we will deport you all to New Orleans. It will probably all be under water by then anyway. I hope you Gringos can swim, he, he, he. My bad!!!
So give it up and LEARN SPANISH! You should probably all buy Mexican flags too and fly them in your front yard and on your pickup trucks. If you already have an American flag there it is alright if you keep it, as long as you fly it upside down and below our great Mexican flag.
Now repeat after me – I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of Mucho Grande Mexico, and to the Republic for which it use to stand, one nation under me, with everything for us, and nothing for you.
And remember Gringos,

Obama is obviously obsessed with Sarah Palin. There is a reason she remained in headlines long after the 2008 election ended. She threatens him and all Democrats.
So, he is going back to the Death Panels comment, ignoring tort reform. He is trying to minimize the argument and pretend he hasn’t already lost it, making Sarah Palin seem insignificant in the process. It would work if he weren’t wrong on the issue and about to go on vacation along with Congress.
Giulliani was smart to point out they’re the ones driving policy. Not even Congress but lobbyists, then Congress, then Rahm, then Obama.

Except she didn’t tell anyone so. She campaigned hard against Obama, but she never went for the jugular. She folded like Superman on laundry day.

They’re having a bad weekend, starting with Barry leaving for vacation with, “BTW, the deficit is going to be really big like I didn’t want to tell you for a month!”
Barry shot his friends in the back. They don’t know what to do and have nothing to defend now. The vintners and pot growers in CA are going to make a killing on all this.
Yes, an economic upturn at last!

‘I happen to be a proponant of single payer healthcare’
‘Government run health care scares me too’
Can make a nice 30 sec spot out of those 2 quotes…

Can’t we have one week without hearing “Obama”? Just one?
Dr. ZhivBlago on August 22, 2009 at 7:08 PM
Unfortunately that answer is no.

The problem with Obama is that he is stuck in campaign mode. He believes that if he stays on message and keeps repeating the line about about being able to keep your health care plan and doctor over and over again, like he did with his promise of tax cuts for 95% of Americans during the campaign, that somehow voters will swallow his sales pitch.
Unfortunately for him the cat is already out of the bag as far as the proposed legislation goes and it just doesn’t marry up with what Obama is saying.
In short all this shows is that Obama seems to think that average Americans are a bunch of gullible idiots who can be coerced into giving up their freedoms with a couple of flowery speeches and some smooth talk.
Now while that might be true of most hardcore Obama voters and the Media that certainly isn’t true of swing voters and conservatives, Who are actually paying attention to what is going on, examining the legislation and voicing their anger at what they are finding inside a bill that Obama and his team tried to ram through with little or no debate.
Basically Mr President your Jedi Mind trick does not work on us because we are not weak minded fools.

Your socialism, arrogance, inexperience, lying and race-baiting offends the hell out of me, BHO.

I’d pay good money to see Obama arguing with his teleprompter.

He brings up Death Panels….AGAIN!!
Palin is under his skin apparently (someone phone Axelnod). For the 2nd day (maybe more) he chats up something Palin has said or involving her. Thursday he brought up “this time last year when the Republicans nominated their Vice Presidential Candidate….”. And now….yet again “the death panels”.
Please Governor Palin……post something else on Facebook that applies even MORE pressure (remember it’s their rule #8 I think it is).
1-20-13, America….free from this wouldbe tyrant.

The power of Sarah Palin.
Our girl has taken up permanent residence in Obama’s head!
I mean seriously, if your strongest opponent had just kicked your ass from one end of the nation to the other (from Facebook, no less) wouldn’t 100 percent of all of us have the good sense to not bring up death panels?
As soon as the man-child brings them up, he just reinforces what Sarah was saying!!
What a complete and total moron!
This guy doesn’t have the intellectual capacity of can cling peaches!
What he should do, is resign for health reasons or something, and walk away with some amount of honor. He is a complete disgrace.

I’m sure there’s plenty of space in there for her to move around.

Post of the week!
gary4205 on August 22, 2009 at 9:05 PM
I’m kinda wondering if his real problem is not that he believes his own press. He really does think he’s the messiah, partner with god.
Or maybe he just isn’t always taking his meds on time. That can screw up your thinking as well.
