Oh my: Obama down to 45% approval in new Zogby poll

posted at 9:00 pm on August 20, 2009 by Allahpundit

I remember back in the day when “Zogby” used to be a curse word among conservative bloggers. Change:

Asked whether they approve or disapprove of the president’s job performance, just 45.3 percent of likely voters say they approve. That compares with 50.5 percent who disapprove of the job Obama is doing.

The results are a strong indication that contentious national debate over healthcare reform has taken a major toll on the president’s popularity…

Of greatest concern to Obama may well be his decline among all-important independent voters. Just 37.5 percent of self-identified independents say they approve of how Obama is handling the presidency. That compares with 59.2 percent of independents who disapprove…

Continued evidence of declining popularity there will ratchet up the pressure on congressional blue dogs and other conservative Democrats to go their own way on controversial proposals such as public-option healthcare and energy cap-and-trade, knowing they can’t rely on presidential coattails to prop them up with voters.

Quite so, which is why any righty blogger with any kind of audience should be trumpeting Obama’s declining numbers. The lower they go, the more pressure there is on Blue Dogs to kill the bill. Make sure they know it.

Dude, The One’s first term is now … totally wee-wee’d.

I’m looking forward to when the rhetorical nonsense jumps the shark and Obama to become the first president to officially declare war on cancer, obesity, adult literacy, or something else equally silly.

This little piggy

This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed at home,
This little piggy had roast beef,
This little piggy had none.
And this little piggy went…
“Wee wee wee” all the way home…

It’s so deep, man. What does it mean?

BrideOfRove on August 21, 2009 at 12:27 PM

Is he calling us all pigs? Is it a reference to Animal Farm or a historical reference to the 60’s liberal fascist curse on the middle class who they used to refer to as pigs?

Isn’t “all wee weed up” Chicagoan for “maccacca”?

Well, a war on literacy would certainly aid the Democrats maintain power. And isn’t that what the teachers’ unions have been waging for years, semi-covertly?

Don’t think they care about polls. They are on a trip to “transform” America at any cost. If all their policies are in place elections will be meaningless.

OBAMACARE DIES, GRANNY LIVES

Say that over and over and over to everyone you know. Get cartoons (http://www.townhall.com)like Ramirez. Belittle the plan, use Alinskys’ own rules on them. They will be relentless, but the American people are being driven by this guy to speak out and take action.

If he keeps this up the 9/12 march is going to be GI-Normous.

And I don’t know a whole lot about this march either. If Congress tries to push this through you’re going to see Grannies there, the disabled, lots of “mob” people (normal citizens).

We must Mobilize (in a political sense)….they are already.

We the People are clearly not happy with BHO. Mr. indypat and I are here to tell you that folks love America and are PROUD of it (unlike POTUS and FLOTUS). Today was the second Flag Waving Friday-which is just getting started in our state. The deal is any Friday between 5-8 PM, grab Old Glory or a Gadsden, stand safely on a major overpass and wave the flag. We got so many honks, waves and thumbs-up, it was like a mini-TEA Party. Give it a try in your state!

President Obama is hemorrhaging support among independents: A Washington Post-ABC News poll published Friday found that independents’ confidence in Obama’s ability to make the right decisions had dropped 20 points since the Inauguration, from 61 percent to 41 percent.

That along with this from Charlie Cook’s political report:

[T]he situation this summer has slipped completely out of control for President Obama and Congressional Democrats. Today, The Cook Political Report’s Congressional election model, based on individual races, is pointing toward a net Democratic loss of between six and 12 seats, but our sense, factoring in macro-political dynamics is that this is far too low.

Many veteran Congressional election watchers, including Democratic ones, report an eerie sense of déjà vu, with a consensus forming that the chances of Democratic losses going higher than 20 seats is just as good as the chances of Democratic losses going lower than 20 seats. A new Gallup poll that shows Congress’ job disapproval at 70 percent among independents should provide little solace to Democrats. In the same poll, Congressional approval among independents is at 22 percent, with 31 percent approving overall, and 62 percent disapproving.

Now we need to run some effective members of the GOP who will govern like limited government conservatives, and not like some of the corrupt goons who ran wild with tax payers’ money during the Bush administration.

I’m quite sure that the homeboy meant to say “weeded up”.

I don’t understand the confusion here.

The past year–from the campaign to the present boondoggle–can be summed up in one wise cliche:

All that glitters is not gold.

I hope that a strong, principled conservative will prove that the real deal does not need to glitter. Truth always wins out, with or without fancy slogans and shiny packaging.

C’mon 2012!
