Obama can’t stop whining about powerless GOP minority’s opposition to ObamaCare

posted at 7:10 pm on August 20, 2009 by Allahpundit

Sometimes I think The One secretly wants a Republican wave next year. If his agenda’s going to go down in flames, it’d help his reelection bid a bunch to have a strong GOP obstacle to blame for its failure. As it is, he’s reduced to pathetic spin like this to complement the demagoguery about un-American brownshirted evil-mongers oozing out of the Democratic leadership. Scapegoat politics, Alinsky-style:

While continuing to argue he wants a bipartisan bill, President Obama today for first time publicly blamed Congressional Republican leaders for seeing health care reform in only political terms. And for the first time he acknowledged Democrats might go it alone.

Before a crowd of loyal Democrats this afternoon, President Obama said his party would pass health care reform with or without Republicans…

Earlier, in a radio interview, the President for the first time publicly accused Republican leaders of trying to kill health care reform for political reasons

“I think early on, a decision was made by the Republican leadership that said, ‘Look, let’s not give them a victory. maybe we can have a replay of 1993-94 when Clinton came in. He failed on health care and the we won on the midterm elections. and we got the majority.’ And I think there are some folks who are taking a page out of that playbook.”

Bear in mind, all this sturm und drang is over a handful of GOP votes. If they water down the bill until it’s soaking wet, maybe they get Grassley, the wonder twins from Maine, and one or two others to vote for it. That’s what constitutes bipartisan cover to the Obama spin machine. Only one problem: The more they water it down, the more likely it is that House progressives will walk away and the bill will stall. In fact, no less than Pelosi herself threatened House Blue Dogs, Senate Democrats, and The One today by warning that without a public option, ObamaCare ain’t going anywhere. If that’s true then it’s probably impossible to win Republican votes for it; given the growing public opposition to the bill, even Snowe and Collins may decide that they simply can’t sign off on a government alternative — which leaves Obama in a thoroughly wee-wee’d situation, to paraphrase the great orator of our age. To see how he ended up there, read this excellent, withering Jay Cost post about Team Barry’s inexplicable inability to predict the split between centrist Dems and liberals. It is indeed amateur hour at the White House.

Watching Obama is like watching a bad high school class president.

As Rush calls him .MAN CHILD MAN CHILD MAN CHILD.This guy has always got his way and is not used to not getting it.Anybody who stills believes he went to Rev.Wrights church for 20 years and did not learn or hear anything that racist Wright was saying is a fool and living in wonderland. The thing that scares me the most is what he will try to do when things really get bad and his poll numbers keep going down.

I meant “idiot” in the way Typhoon thinks. The Precedent is stupid. It’s clear that he doesn’t understand fractions. His English is awful (the guy still doesn’t know how to use the indefinite article), he has never been able to make any logical argument for his positions, he seems to know nothing about the Constitution (though he is allegedly a Constitutional scholar), he constantly spouts obvious falsities and seems to have no respect for the truth (if he ever happened upon it), …

I think that The Precedent’s IQ hovers somewhere around 88 – on a good day.

RNC ad, if they’ll use it:

The President has accused Republicans of wanting to stop his so-called healthcare reform, which will ration that care and cost everyone even more than families and small businesses pay today.

Many in his own party don’t want it either. So, together, we’ll join hands and try for real reform that won’t reward greedy trial lawyers or insurance companies, or put government bureaucrats in charge of life and death decisions.

Otherwise, he thinks he has free license to just show up on TV and spout all sorts of idiocy and he will still have people saying, “Oh, but he is really a smart guy who is making silly arguments,” when he needs to know that everyone is aware that he is a moron.

When he makes a stupid argument, as he does everyday, people need to start saying, “Why would I even address such a moron?” That is how this must go, by my reckoning. And it has the added advantage that it is the truth. He proves how stupid he is every single day, but everyone is still letting him slide on this. That must stop.

These guys are pushing for ‘repartions’….ummmm… Reparations are going to be shoved down our throats, can’t we at least only give it to the ones who know how to spell?

bikermailman on August 20, 2009 at 8:43 PM

Reparations?

I deserve reparations.

Because those evil slave holders generated a nation of white guilt, I’m stuck with an idiot for a president.

I want paid, G.

NoDonkey on August 20, 2009 at 8:47 PM

I’m out fine folks. Good night all.

elduende on August 20, 2009 at 8:50 PM

We have a petulant child holding the levers of power, and his champions are bullies in the playground.

Such a shame if the piggies at the trough have to go, “Wee, wee, wee, all the way home.”

onlineanalyst on August 20, 2009 at 8:57 PM

I guess the left forgot about that peskky little thing known as the SILENT MAJORITY!

katy on August 20, 2009 at 7:20 PM

Not only that, but the left forgot about the fact that we are a representative republic and that Congress is charged with representing the will of the people…all of the people.

onlineanalyst on August 20, 2009 at 9:01 PM

As it is he is in the position of wanting to get 3 RINOs and losing about 20 Blue Dogs… what a trade!

Damn, someone needs to make a deck of cards for this Congress and Administration… and the Joker is already done…

ajacksonian on August 20, 2009 at 9:06 PM

When the wee wee isn’t clear, its time to flush out the body politic!

Watching Obama is like watching a bad high school class president.

Stop slandering bad high school class presidents, Buckeye…

But who will be the mutineers? Congress or the voters?

chickasaw42 on August 20, 2009 at 9:23 PM

Hussein has to be one of the most ignorant trolls in recent history.

If he does not realize that we the people have spoken up on a daily basis, which has scared the sh*t out of elected officials, then he’s completely in the dark.

At this point, I believe he keeps on talking about passing a bill, not out of some social conscience, but because he can’t stand to lose, i.e., pride.

Earlier, in a radio interview, the President for the first time publicly accused Republican leaders of trying to kill health care reform for political reasons

Obama has conducted a zillion town halls, teleconferenced with faith leaders, the SEIU, met with Dems, set up Snitch Central & email spams from outside sources, given prime-time press conferences, numerous network interviews, and today, a radio show.

Obama has yet to stroll across town and sit down with the GOP and ask what they want in healthcare reform! All he does is attack the republican party. Obama is the one who should be willing to put forth an effort to cross the isle….

TN Mom on August 20, 2009 at 9:44 PM

Folks don’t take a victory lap yet! Anyone cunning and sleazy enough to destroy both Clintons will not roll over and quit as easily as some think he will. He is a psychopath and on a mission(jihad) against white America and all of it’s successful institutions. He is Rev. Wrights “son” and will act accordingly until he is completely and thoroughly defeated. Beware!! The Clintons could not do it and that is scary!

Marco on August 20, 2009 at 9:45 PM

Everything, including health care, is, in the end, politics. In a democracy, where the people rule, politics (governing the people) involves listening to them. Republicans are listening just as intently to their base as Obama is listening to his.

When he said he was going to be a leader for all Americans, the fact that he is a leader in a democracy means that he has to listen to those Americans.

He’s not winning this one. Public opinion is against him, which indicates that Republicans have guaged the pulse of the public far better than Mr. Obama. If he persists in trying to win — in going against a public opinion which, contrary to the view of certain politicians, is more often right than wrong, he and his cronies will suffer greatly in the next election cycle.

unclesmrgol on August 20, 2009 at 9:52 PM

This is all really simple. In Illinois everyone does what the machine says – conservative, liberal, Dem, Rep. At the end of the day, whatever Daley’s Chicago outfit buddies and fat Springfield mandarins want happens. Obama fooled himself into believing that’s hoe Congress would work. They definetly thought that’show th Dems would behave. They ignored Tip O’Neil’s maxim: all politics is local. There aren’t enough goombas or Acorn pawns in the world to re-elect a Bible-belt D who votes for Obamacare.

I’m really tired of hearing the BS from the Left that the GOP doesn’t want health care reform. What we don’t want is the Left’s version of reform and they damn well know it.

The GOP better start getting their message out.

Divorce ain’t going to cut it. We need an annulment on this one.

progressoverpeace on August 20, 2009 at 8:11 PM

Can’t get an annulment if the marriage has been consummated. And with what he has been doing to the country, we should all feel like this guy’s post election “honeymoon” had all the aspects of a real one. Or maybe a really gritty jail romance.
