Obama 1995: In hard economic times, politicians tend to look for racial scapegoats

posted at 9:45 pm on August 20, 2009 by Allahpundit

Yeah, good point. Isn’t it depressing when politicians try to demagogue what’s essentially an economic issue? I can just picture the heads nodding at MSNBC. I’ll say this for you, champ: You’ve got a lot of nerve.

Watch to the end for some sweet, sweet bonus material on Rev. Wright, whose more radical tendencies The One naturally never ever had an inkling of.

Blowback

I don’t know where to begin with this one.

Obama can’t hold a candle to Martin Luther King Jr.

lavell12 on August 21, 2009 at 12:31 AM

Bam-bam is only AA in the most minimal of terms. Genealogically his ethnic break down is,

50%/Caucasion/43% Arab/7% African.

Archimedes on August 20, 2009 at 11:59 PM

False. BHO Sr. was a Muslim and Kenyans conflate ‘Muslim’ and ‘Arab.’ However BHO Sr. was no Arab, not even a little bit.

Why does everyone keep falling for this silliness?

baldilocks on August 21, 2009 at 12:33 AM

1995?

Goodness, that’s digging back.

Obama is 100% Marxist so who cares about the rest.

Exactly.

baldilocks on August 21, 2009 at 12:50 AM

Does he belch at :48?

Note to Obama: Don’t tape a television segment right after lunch.

Yeah, that Reverend Wright is “the best of what the black church has to offer”. Uh huh. (That would greatly surprise my pastor, who is black.)

I hope the next time we elect a President it will be for actual adult-level reasons, unlike the infantile nonsense what got this motherless POS elected.

Yes, you have to go back to before he was running for national office to find out what he really believes.

29Victor on August 21, 2009 at 2:10 AM

Well, Wright did tell us that Obama would disown him because, as a politician, he’ll have to.

At least Wright is honest.

Can’t say the same for the President.

Tuning Spork on August 21, 2009 at 2:12 AM

This is not the Barack Obama I knew

macncheez on August 21, 2009 at 2:42 AM

Nice pic. Wonder how he’d look in Jerry curls? Just wondering.

Dr. ZhivBlago on August 21, 2009 at 5:09 AM

Two points:

1) Several times he appears to be looking down and to the left as through referring to a teleprompter.

2) Several times throughout the video I get the impression that he is on the point of breaking out in a smile or laugh, almost like the whole thing is a joke or he’s been smoking something. Anybody else get that impression?

Ordinary American on August 21, 2009 at 6:04 AM

I’d like to see a body language expert take a look at him when he says what a great guy Rev Wright is!

Moaneeca on August 21, 2009 at 6:54 AM

29Victor on August 21, 2009 at 2:10 AM

No, you can just look at what he’s attempting to do right now and it becomes obvious.

Oldnuke on August 21, 2009 at 7:36 AM

I keep forgetting how big his Dumbo ears are. I bet his family has to duck every time he turns his head. He’s really very funny looking.

Jeff from WI on August 21, 2009 at 7:36 AM

Too bad this wasn’t blowing up in his face along with all the Wright clips that were making the rounds last year. McCain’s oppo research team failed.

“. . . the sense of liberation that is embodied in the historically african-american church is really something that moves me deeply.”

Clearly he was not listening to that Black Liberation Theology.

exdeadhead on August 21, 2009 at 7:40 AM

“my faith..which is not necessarily a traditional faith..”

Naw, ya think?

“Rev Wright, who I think represents the best that the black church has to offer,..”

Dude?

Alden Pyle on August 21, 2009 at 7:42 AM

I’ll sing the Charlie Cook refrain.

Out with the rubbish, post haste.

Congressional approval rating has been septic for years already. And now the Democrats monopolize the sewage.

Accountability. In Obama’s words to his Washington Piggies: We “Wee Wee” went Wee Weed, all the way home.

maverick muse on August 21, 2009 at 7:48 AM

“Rev Wright, who I think represents the best that the black church has to offer,..”

Good grief.

Pathological liar: A pathological liar often comes across as being manipulative, cunning and self-centered.

They will contradict what they say. This will become very clear over time. They usually aren’t smart enough to keep track of so many lies.

Sound familiar?

tru2tx on August 21, 2009 at 7:53 AM

How the media foisted this abortion of a Marxist on us is beyond me.

elduende on August 21, 2009 at 7:57 AM

“Economic scarcity” creates racial scapegoats? Hmmmmm. Where have I heard that ‘scholarly’ theory before? Oh wait! From Obama’s Harvard pal (and Vineyard resident), Professor Henry Louis Gates:

People are terrified because of the shrinking size of the pie, and when people are frightened, they become suspicious of each other. Homophobia, anti-black racism, anti-Semitism, and sexism all increase in times of scarcity. People scapegoat other people.

in reference to:
(1) – TOTUS wasn’t around for years after this, be I think he keeps looking down because he’s trying to remember what someone wrote for him to say. Puppets don’t ever speak from their own minds, someone else has to prop them up…

(2) – RACIST!! Just because he was born in Africa, and he’s of color doesn’t mean he smokes herbs. Now what, you going to get MSNBC to show a video of the torso of a person smoking a joint, inciting racism, without showing that it’s the president… or something, that one lost some steam mentally…

righthanddrive on August 21, 2009 at 8:00 AM

6 months, the economy is a disaster, foreign policy a disaster, U.S. infrastructure falling apart, no energy agenda (except 2 bil. to Brazil)…and the vetting is just now beginning?

AnninCA on August 21, 2009 at 12:44 AM

Yes, isn’t that something, for over 14 years he has held the same views…it shows how steeped he is these beliefs. How they are his real foundation.
Good Call…you picked up on that also. Kind of makes you wonder how much more there is to know.
All we can do is shake our head in discouragement…glad to see you are finally coming around and noticing what a farce Obama is, and for how long he has been “pulling the wool” over our eyes.
I join you in your resentment of this man…

Thanks for this hater of a president, AWOL MSM.

How did the Clinton people miss this during the campaign?

RedSoxNation on August 21, 2009 at 8:39 AM

Well, at least after watching this interview, I’m reassured that this Administration — and its ardent supporters in the media — will never play the race card to push through policy initiatives.

‘Cause that would be wrong.

Wow..this 1995 photo reminds me of a shot of Bill Cosby when he was on I spy in 1965.

John McCain: “Boy, I’m glad we didn’t find that video during the campaign, I would have had to use it.”

Actually I know for a fact he did have it, and refused to use it. Along with much more damning tid-bits than this.

OK……..Now can we impeach this clown??????

1luckydogg on August 21, 2009 at 9:18 AM

The worst part about all of this stuff is that it is coming out too late. Anyone can see tht this man, and YES, I agree with Glenn Beck, is a racist. It is sad but he will hinder all race relations within this country over the next 3 years. The only good thing to come is that perhaps people will begin to see past party politics and vote for the best candidate going forward!

Rev. Wright is an example of the best the black church has to offer?

Unbelievable.

Maybe Glenn Beck is right. Maybe he doesn’t respect white culture.

76United on August 21, 2009 at 11:39 AM

example of songs in the black church:

“Go away you white devil”

“Whitey, you can’t keep me Down”

“When the chickens come home to roost”

“Amerikkka”

” Who is my daddy”

la.rt.wngr on August 21, 2009 at 11:46 AM

What? Even back then his wandering, disjointed rhetoric was hard to follow. With his “uhs” sprinkled liberally (no pun intended) through his droning, it really is difficult to focus on meanung rather than emotion.

allstonian on August 21, 2009 at 11:47 AM

I have a strong impression of Obama sitting on someone’s knee and they are pulling the strings behind his back making his mouth move. Keep an eye on his nose.
