Video: Krauthammer a Monty Python fan?

posted at 7:12 pm on August 19, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

If so, my admiration for Charles Krauthammer has hit maximum proportions. I’m not sure I agree with his assessment that the public option is dead — I think it might just be pining for the fjords — but check out this Dennis Miller-style pop reference at the end, via Greg Hengler at Townhall:

Awesome. Unfortunately, I’m not convinced that the public option is an ex-parrot just quite yet. I’d certainly like to think it’s bleeding deceased, but I suspect it may just be mostly dead. We’ll need a miracle to keep Democrats from shoving that chocolate-coated potion down our throats. In other words, have fun storming the castle for the foreseeable future.

Krauthammer is a class act and forgive me… but parroting is a concept. I’d lay odds Krauthammer is not familiar with Monty Python or has any idea what the ground speed of an unladen european swallow is.

Danzo on August 19, 2009 at 7:22 PM

“If you want to get anything done in this country you’ve got to complain until you are blue in the mouth.”

“That’s Inter-City Rail for you.”

“I don’t have to do this, you know, I’m a qualified Brain Surgeon. I only do this because I like being my own boss.”

And phrases like these will become more and more common if Obamacare passes.

As we all join the Choir Invisible.

coldwarrior on August 19, 2009 at 7:23 PM

I don’t think the public option is dead yet, so we need to keep hammering at HR 3200 until the entire beast is dead.

Meanwhile, Obama’s approval is tanking, so he will be desperate to drum up support somewhere, currently the gay vote. He originally thought he had them in his pocket no matter what, so he tossed gay marriage under the bus. Now that he sees he is in deep trouble, he needs to resurrect the issue and show them that he supports it.

He’s going to do this to many issues in an attempt to prop up his numbers. We should be prepared for the oncoming battles.

You can’t expect to wield supreme executive power just because some air-headed tarts fainted when you spoke.

If I went ’round sayin’ I should be President, just because some nonsense about raising the seas and providing hope and change, they’d put me away.
(Obama grabs him and shakes him)
Dennis: Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I’m being repressed!

Obama: Bloody racist!!

I’d also strongly recommend checking out Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister; a British comedy from the early 80′s that highlighted the absurdity of the bureacratic state. I especially recommend the following episode:

The Compassionate Society

in which minister Hacker has to deal with a government hospital that is fully staffed but has no patients.

“what’s endearing here is the way Sebelius has adopted the Obama habit of saying that I’ve never ever changed or waivered. Remember Obama did that at first when he said that he wouldn’t take public in campaigns, and then of course he did. He changed his mind on eavesdropping and wire tapping, and pretended he never… he always, er,he always says “as I have always said,I never change”. And of course if you are omniscient, omnipotent and unerring, then obvious it’s in the eye of the beholder whose not able to read Obama scripture correctly. He clearly has shifted radically. You can’t say on the one hand, it must be in anything I sign, and then say it’s only a sliver and pretend that you are consistant. What happened, is they understood that with the public option the public anger is so high they will pass nothing and that’s why it’s been abandoned. All of this has been a way to plackate the left. Which understands it’s a Kabuki dance. It’s a way of pretending it’s still on the table, it’s off, it’s gone, it’s dead, it’s a dead Parrot” (background applause added)
