Unreal: MSNBC edits clip of man with gun at Obama rally to support racism narrative

I missed this yesterday at Newsbusters but Treacher, rightly aghast, tipped me to it this afternoon. Never will you see a starker example of MSNBC getting away with the sort of deception for which Fox News would be pilloried, especially in the context of race. If you missed Monday’s post about this, go watch the footage (or look at this photo) and see if you can deduce why they wouldn’t want to show the guy with the rifle from the neck up during this particular segment. For all the well-deserved heat that MSNBC’s primetime line-up has taken for its demagoguery — Maddow has been notably egregious during the health-care blowup — this proves that they’re not above pulling this crap during their daytime “hard news” segments either.
When you’re done with the clip, scroll through the new photo gallery Zombie’s put together of the many, many, many “Kill Bush” signs at leftist protests over the past eight years. Thank goodness outlets like MSNBC and the Huffington Post took such “blunt, no-argument stances” against that sort of insanity at the time.

Imagine for a moment that tomorrow talk radio was just suddenly shut down. Fox news was suddenly off the air. No explanation given. No acknowledgment from anywhere on the other networks that anything was wrong.
You try to log onto the internet, but it’s unusually slow and whenever you try to log onto HotAir, Drudge or any other trusted news site or blog, you get an error.
So, you turn on the MSN. You try to search all the networks for what has gone wrong with the internet and talk radio. The only news you find are glowing reports of Obama. His poll numbers have skyrocketed.
He’s fixed health care. He’s fixed our economy. He’s also about to unite the world with ObamaLove, baby. It’s all beautiful.
In fact, so many new and exciting things have changed as a result of ObamaCare, ObamaLove and ObamaPeace, that all citizens will be participating in the mandated ObamaEducation program at the local ObamaRe-education Center!
The MSN is raving about the new modern ObamaRe-education centers! Chris Matthews says he’s got a thrill up his other leg! You watch live news feeds of glorious crowds waving ObamaFlags and fainting at his image! Then suddenly, there is a live breaking news feed of Rush and Hannity with tears in their eyes. The images are blurry but the announcer says it is them. They are saying how wonderful Obama is, they confess their past greed and ask all to forgive them!
Then, a knock on your door and you answer it. Three armed men are standing at your door in a uniform you’ve never seen. One says “Good morning, We’re part of the new Obama Civilian Core and we’re here to accompany you to the ObamaRe-education Center. Standing room only on the environmentally friendly GM ObamaCattle Car so please hurry along!”
Could never happen, right?
Just paranoia.

I think the image of the black man carrying the gun was shown on CNN’s website yesterday, and the photo was cropped just above the jawline. I was checking headlines and commented to someone in the office (I’m self employed, so you don’t have to tell my boss) that the guy with the gun was black; we thought “how is that going to go down in the news?”
Looks like MSNBC did some very selective photo editing.

What they didn’t know was the Secret Service undercover agent had been talking with the man and was standing behind him. He was under “control” the whole time. Second amendment rights and local laws supercede Secret Service guidelines. Guests at the Phoenician Resort were ask to “voluntarily” place their weapons in the hotel safe during BHO’s stay. All complied.

“..the revolution will not be televised..”
VoyskaPVO on August 20, 2009 at 9:54 AM
..or for those not familiar with the piece:
“The revolution will not be right back after a message
about a white tornado, white lightning, or white people.
You will not have to worry about a dove in your
bedroom, a tiger in your tank, or the giant in your toilet bowl.
The revolution will not go better with Coke.
The revolution will not fight the germs that may cause bad breath.
The revolution will put you in the driver’s seat.
The revolution will not be televised, will not be televised,
will not be televised, will not be televised.
The revolution will be no re-run brothers;
The revolution will be live.“
VoyskaPVO on August 20, 2009 at 9:58 AM
I think this is more propaganda than anything else.
Sure, the black analyst in the clip provided was spewing false assertions about white people and hopefully asserting that someone might be goaded into an assassination attack which could then be vilified as white racist hatred for our dear, dear, freedom-loving first black president who can do no wrong evah.
Alphabet soup (ABC/CBS/NBC/MSNBC/CNBC) news reporting is nothing but incendiary propaganda. It’s the same kind of BS that the regime in Iran floats to legitimize its repression and murder. Any “journalist” who works for one of these outfits today has no ethics, morals or professionalism whatsoever unless they are working for the demise of this biased media monolith. They are propagandist hacks.
Thankfully, I have been able to turn them off and tune them out since November 5, 2008. I’ll never turn them back on, either.

The media is overcompensating for Obama.
His approval ratings are falling like a stone, his policies are not popular, so they’re stoking the ‘RACIST!’ meme harder than ever to cover for him.
A black man with an AR-15 as a racist Obama hater? It can’t be long before they identify racist dogs, cats, and vegetables.

Skip Gates, The National Association of Race Hustlers… I mean, uh… MSNBC. All this racist wolf crying is actually a healthy development. Could a charlatan like Al Sharpton appear on the scene and get away with his Tawana Brawley hoax today? I don’t think so.

NOTHING NEW REALLY, just more of the same whole cloth to garner sympathy for the sinking false messiah who just claimed himself co-partner with God in determining issues regarding our life and death!
CONSERVATIVES NEED NOT BUY OR ACCEPT THIS WHITE GUILT RUBBISH. Democrats own the monopoly on that, and are attempting their own Egyption Sale but with the worst marketing ploy ever. Instead of promising pleasantries, they are attempting to bind and gag us as they make us their scapegoats and whipping boys.
Yesterday, Rush extinguished the illogical so-called conservative stance projected by Allahpundit labelling open carry legitimately armed people as radicals in the public forum.
Today, Allahpundit’s report on this media editing to fabricate “racism” avoids any connection with his prejudice towards open carry in the presence of The One (and whoever else would follow in subsequent progression of that infringement of right).
Allahpundit, you are not to blame for the MSNBC racist edit job. But had the edit job been to smear the armed attendees as sociopaths instead, you would have enabled that.

I was outside at the Portsmouth NH last week and there were a few LTC concealed weapons permit holders there – carrying. We waited four hours to see the motorcade drive by and they never did. They were using the back drive the entire time, which is what the police told us after he arrived, which is why we were allowed to stand out front. The police barricade around the school was 100+ feet from the foundation. No one is getting anywhere near this guy – except maybe at a hamburger joint in Alexandria. They hype is just that – trying to create a sense of urgency and doom.
Whether there are any real threats against Obama we will never know because it simply fits their narrative to have him under threat every moment of every day. If, and that’s a very big if, someone ever gets close enough to do any harm, it will be a huge lapse in security. He’s protected in the way I’d like to see our border protected.
gopmom on August 20, 2009 at 10:30 AM
Why didn’t MSNBC just “colorize” the clip and change the skin tone of the gun-toting Obamacare supporter? I mean, it’s not like they’re above that sort of thing. Or even better: Just get some actors and “forget” to mention it was a dramatization?
Is this “acting stupidly” as the POTUS calls it?
theCork on August 20, 2009 at 10:35 AM
The race baiters on msnbc not just cropped the footage to hide the race of the gun toter, but as they showed the man with the ar15 as a close up from the back they immediately cut away to a reporter talking to a white man to give the impression that this was the man with the weapons.
veni vidi vici on August 20, 2009 at 10:36 AM
Progressive vocabulary revisions subliminally equate radical with racist.
Progressives are often ignorant themselves, copying cue cards from each other, stupidly taking short cuts.
I’m still laughing at Obama’s revision of Gates’ reference of our military’s “exquisite” mechanism into what Obama repeatedly called “exotic” and therefore necessitating annihilation. By law, the so-called “exquisite” F-22 was produced only in the USA for the USA to maintain military advantage preserving our national defense. Yet Obama called it “exotic” and therefore too rich for our blood. Gates referenced the F-22 as exquisite because it is unparalleled and designed to function at full capacity in all circumstances regardless of weather, wind, ice, temperature or darkness. The new less capable F-35 could feasibly be called “exotic” since it is internationally produced and sold. It also has not been fully tested, yet is already in full production mode. So the unpredictable errors will be extremely expensive to correct after the fact, negating its affordability claim. The international consortium infers an “exotic” element, particularly if the malfunctions and accidents occur in foreign locations. That would be Obama’s excuse, as every international member will be pointing fingers at other parties to blame for the upcoming costs that aren’t even hidden, just not yet determined in exact figures.

It’s all falling apart, just 7 months into your first lifetime term. Cap-n-Tax is stalled in the Senate and unlikely to pass. The public option in Obama Care won’t pass in the Senate either and any comprise bill that lacks a public option won’t pass in the House. The people are revolting, folks are openly carrying handguns and assault weapons at your speeches. The polls show 57% of the people don’t think your stimulus is working and 72% want any unspent money refunded to the taxpayers. Your charisma is gone, the generalities and philosophical talking points just don’t inspire crowds anymore. Neither does blaming Bush or his growing throng of proxies like Joe the Plumber, Sarah Palin, the Birthers, Tea Baggers and Astroturfers. Even late night comedians are starting to mock your feckless leadership.
What went wrong? How could this be? What became of your imagined mandate? Can you ever get your mojo back? The world waits and wonders….Ahhh, strike that, no we don’t! From Messiah to pariah in 7 months! That has got to be a world record!

I have long wondered why ” WE the people” have not gotten together and started a boycott of one of these loony lefty sewage outlets. Its not News, and if we picked one , and stayed with it, pressured the advertisers perhaps it would send the message that we are tired of being lied to.
You cannot blame them doing what they do , as long as we allow them to do so.
a lot like the analogy of why does a male dog lick his b*lls? cause he can, Why do they lie to us, because they can, and WE THE PEOPLE LET THEM.

If President Obama would just set up “free speech zones” like President Bush did then it wouldn’t matter how many or how big the guns being carrid by protesters were. They would be so far away from the events that it would’nt be an issue.
Funny how i do not recall any outrage from the right when Bush was pushing anyone potesting his policies as far away from his as possible and arresting anyone who dared speak up about it. Of course if you were carrying pro Bush signs you were allowed to line the streets in front of him. The double standard and cowardice of Bush are pathetic.

Some black humor from Apes & Angels — a novel set in the 1930’s — seems appropriate. The man who killed Lincoln and the one who missed Roosevelt.”

Calling an African-American a “white racist” is blatantly false – MSNBC has gotten away with this trash for too long. Someone needs to stand up to these O-bot clowns and hold them accountable. Writing it off as MSNBC “status-quo” is unaccaptable.

Barbara, I’ll grant you, got some comments (not nearly as many, IMHO, as Hillary or Janet Reno), but I truly dont remember ever hearing anybody say anything negative about Laura Bush’s appearance. I heard some call into question her judgement in life partners (which I still think is silly and useless when discussing politics), but never her looks.
orange on August 20, 2009 at 2:11 PM
As usual, hard-right conservatives can only see two poles: in this case, completely biased and completely unbiased.
My point was that while everybody has biases, not everyone (on either side of the aisle) is so biased that they’re going to extend their political beliefs to the realm of criticizing the appearance of the spouses of political opponents. If someone has gone there, it strongly suggests that they are so biased as to be irreparably closed-minded.
(and yes, shame on me for not ignoring you)

the thing is that it is progressives more than anyone else who want obama assassinated – or at least to have the theme, the fear of assassination prominent and hot – because they love false martyr myths about themselves even more than they hate people who disagree with them.

i’ve noted with some amazement the consistency of this phenomenon:
if a progressive makes a claim…
1) it will turn out to be abjectly false, often a deliberately contrived falsehood.
2) it will turn out that progressives have done the same exact thing they had falsely attributed to their opponents.
think of the claim made of bush, that he used 911 as a pretense to attack legitimate dissent.
