Video: Barney Frank town hall on health care goes pretty much as expected
posted at 10:04 pm on August 18, 2009 by Allahpundit
Via JWF, a treat while we wait for that NYT bombshell to burst. Hannity culled the best soundbites of Frank displaying the special charm for which he’s so well known and loathed, but you’re cheating yourself if you don’t watch this, too. The crack about how arguing with the “Obama = Hitler” crowd is like arguing with furniture is worth the price of admission.

Bonus points for including “gobbling” in that phrase!

Thanks. And thanks!

I can’t help but believe that a young Barney Frank was in the room when the word “cooties” was first coined. Ugh.
EyeSurgeon on August 19, 2009 at 12:33 AM
What’s he got in his mouth? Oh, nevermind
Hummer53 on August 19, 2009 at 12:44 AM
Even funnier, given your screen name!

canopfor on August 19, 2009 at 12:58 AM
typical media do not show the questions. Just reaction from Frank. I want to see the questions that “provoked” Frank. The ones he could wrap his head around
unseen on August 19, 2009 at 1:04 AM
Frankly, it is awesome how unappealing and obnoxious that man is. Everything that is wrong with liberals and democrats is embodied in that one being.
Barney Frank: another look at term limits for Congress.

1. It’s Novak;
2. You (not you personally) can’t claim the moral high ground after what was written here when Walter Cronkite died.

Geochelone on August 19, 2009 at 1:21 AM
The way he smugly lectures his constituents posing legitimate questions is revolting. He has the same contempt for the serfs as the Dukes, Barons, and Lords of Medieval Europe. When the medieval serfs axed their venal effete aristocrats they did it literally.
We need to axe Bawney Fwank, politically not literally of course. I recognize he is from a safe district and the idiots in his district will never vote him out, but we can erase the democrat majority, thus stripping him of chairmanships and other perks.
DeathB4Tyranny on August 19, 2009 at 1:33 AM
In 2006 970 Billion dollars was spent of public money for 83 million people, the national population was 299 million that means for the government to cover the entire country the cost would have been over 2 Trillion!
Total private expenditures were 1139.71 trillion!
Not a bit of savings and EVERYTHING the government does is worse and costs more than the private sector.
Speakup on August 19, 2009 at 3:08 AM
This, is all I have to say about that.
Steven on August 19, 2009 at 4:05 AM
Here’s the link. Sorry about that.
Steven on August 19, 2009 at 4:07 AM
What a condescending, fat bastard. I don’t know why I’d be surprised that Bawney wouldn’t give straight answers to straight questions. Just another example of the better-than-thou liberal socialist democrat party plutocrat people seem to like so damned much.
Virus-X on August 19, 2009 at 4:19 AM
Yet, they keep VOTING this clown into office.
You tell me what’s wrong with this process.
Kini on August 19, 2009 at 4:39 AM
Did he write it? No? Then STFU, jackass. I would say “go back to your moral low-ground”, but that’s too high for the rock you apparently normally spend your time under. Cry and squirt your moral outrage for Cronkite on your own time; this is a discussion about Barney Frank and his condescending bullcrap. If you can’t ‘wrap your head around’ that, shut up and go back to the Daily Kos.
Virus-X on August 19, 2009 at 5:08 AM
I’m so damn happy to be out of his district. There are not enough Republicans left in Massachusetts to defeat even this clown!
LonelyMassRepublican on August 19, 2009 at 6:02 AM
Whan an absoulte ass that guy int eh blue shirt was
Trying to act all tough
Hard guy
What a joke
Thank God the Fag isn’t inmy district
ToddonCapeCod on August 19, 2009 at 6:10 AM
Corrupt socialist POS.
elduende on August 19, 2009 at 6:16 AM
Hey here’s a good idea lets give Frank the power to decide your families healthcare.
elduende on August 19, 2009 at 7:23 AM
Remember this fat, sloppy, unmade bed is the same guy that prevented Congressional oversight of Fannie and Freddie multiple times during the Bush years, not only saying “they were doing fine and there were no problems” but that anyone questioning their management was “racist” due to the black crook CEO who was simultaneously stealing $90,000,000 by cooking the books. The crook was finally fired, but allowed to keep the stolen money. Ahh, yes, diversity at its finest, enabled by idiots like Frank. What could go wrong?
bradley11 on August 19, 2009 at 7:35 AM
Was the woman with the Obama/Hitler poster a plant?
huckleberryfriend on August 19, 2009 at 7:40 AM
He’s rude, arrogant, nasty, snide. He berates and abuses his constituents, he’s an embarassment and disgrace to his district and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, but YOU ELECTED HIM.
My advice is to either do something about HIM or STFU.
Mr. Grump on August 19, 2009 at 7:43 AM
Either he’s so arrogant or he doesn’t even realize that he needs these people’s votes to keep the job he isn’t qualified for.
These people aren’t going to forget.
Pcoop on August 19, 2009 at 7:50 AM
Barney Frank thinks his voters are stupid…..VOTE HIM OUT IN 2010.
yoda on August 19, 2009 at 7:59 AM
That will not happen.
I’m not even in his district but everyone I know loves the guy. When I ask why, most just say that he is a good guy that looks out for people.
RagTag on August 19, 2009 at 8:17 AM
Liberal Logic(?)
“If we hadn’t gone to the war in Iraq, which I thought was a terrible mistake and voted against, we would’ve had more than enough money to pay for Health Care.”
–Barney Frank
But, we DID go to the war in Iraq… And, we’re STILL going to Afghanistan.
Are we to believe, that not only is Afghanistan the “Good War” but, is the “Cheap War” too?
franksalterego on August 19, 2009 at 8:25 AM
Arrogant condescending cretin.
drjohn on August 19, 2009 at 8:29 AM
Who paid for that microphone??? Barney or the people he’s spitting on?
Hey Barney,, what do you think you are accomplishing by ramming this bill down our throats??
Dear Senator Frank,,
To be honest,, we all want to show you and the rest of congress respect! The majority of Americans want to show their elected leaders respect! But, I ask,, is this congress respecting the American people??
Mr. Frank,,, you have security and other staff there to protect you from us! Who do the American people have to protect us from you?? We don’t come into your homes! We don’t come into your bank accounts! We don’t decide what kind of house you can buy or what foods you can eat!
You though, from the comfort of your Washington offices and chambers, with the stroke of a pen or a vote, come crashing into our living rooms, our kitchens, our bedrooms! You regulated our food! You regulate our clothes! You regulate our businesses! You regulate and tax nearly everything we do! And now you are demanding to have the power of life and death! Now you are demanding to be in charge of our medicine, our surgeries, all of our health care, over our very life breath!! And you do not understand why we are not more respectful???? Are you kidding me????
Hey Mr. Frank! I have a question! Should the colonists have been more respectful to King George?? Does that old phrase “of the people, by the people, for the people” have any meaning to to you or anyone else in Washington at all???
Who paid for that microphone Mr Frank??! Who paid for it!?

Help me out here. I’m not that much up with the “Gay” lingo, but at 1:09 of the clip, did Rep. Frank say that he “just assed the chairman”?

Remember, these charlatans are voted in by their constituents for 2 year terms, granting them taxpayer funded salaries and perks.

So true, the man has been representing this district since the early 80′s, why should his constituents be surprised that he is a giant a$$. I have to say though, Frank was pretty funny when he kept on saying that he hasn’t had secret since he became a member of Congress.
Lance Murdock on August 19, 2009 at 9:00 AM
Barney’s the spawn of Porky Pig and Elmer Fudd, but just not as smart.
jdflorida on August 19, 2009 at 9:04 AM
How delightdul it is to see an unabashedly gay liberal Jew giving back as good as he got. The wild-eyed gun-toting fringe has been enjoying the benefits of an Alinsky-esque double standard. Bizarre accusations, weird distortions and psychotic rage have to be tolerated as the genuine emotions of real people, but a representative responding in kind — actually, far more sensibly — is somehow arrogant. You show up at a town hall with a picture of Obama in a mustache screaming “Nazi” (or threatening God’s judgment, as though you have your own particular hot-line) you deserve what you get in response.
Bleeds Blue on August 19, 2009 at 9:08 AM
I have stopped wondering how such a vile little repugnant swine like Fwank ever gets elected, and am trying to pray for the man. It’s just another example of how trying to be a Christian is not for wimps.

Barney Frank is one of the Top 10 Trending Topics on Twitter right now. Most of the tweets are about his comment and people thinking it was awesome. Whatevah.

the epitome of political elitism.
A perfect exmaple of what leaving an incompetent in office too long.
The folks in Mass. should send this freak home to practice his freak pervertions with his lovers in the privacy of his home.

I’m not advocating violence, but isn’t this pr*ck the poster child for someone needing a good ass kicking?
marklmail on August 19, 2009 at 10:00 AM
Asking a politician, like Barney Frank, to be truthful about Government Health Care… Is like a cop asking a drug dealer to show him where his drugs are…
Bullseye36drum on August 19, 2009 at 10:02 AM
No matter what I think of Mr. Frank, until his district wises up and votes him out, he will be relevant and his behavior tolerated.
willardcsmith on August 19, 2009 at 10:30 AM
I can’t decide who has the more annoying voice let alone spews the most insane garbage, Pelosi or Fwank.

Barney Frank is cool and puts these conservative cretins in their place.
Norman Blizter on August 19, 2009 at 10:44 AM
Please, this guy could be caught in bed with a dead 12 year old boy and still win that seat. You’re talking about voters who return a murderer to a Senate seat without blinking.
The anal flu is the only hope for his removal.
mr1216 on August 19, 2009 at 11:02 AM
She is stupid, she asked a Jewish man why he is supporting a Nazi policy. He nailed her for wasting other peoples time with a dumb azz question. Once again HotAir supporting stupidity and irrational arguments.
jero_jones on August 19, 2009 at 11:39 AM
The woman asking the Nazi question was a LaRouche fanatic, a far Leftist demagogue. Barney and fellow Dems are trying to smear conservatives with this Nazi bunk. Where were they, when stimulus passed, and a NY Slimes reporter showed the historical similarities between early Nazi economic policies and Obamanomics? I’ve had the misfortune of watching Frank, since he was an operative for Boston Mayor Kevin White in the 1970s. The clown has always used shouting, intimidation and ridicule as his M.O. He missed his true calling as a Borscht Belt comic. His district is a gerrymandered obscenity, that corrals hopelessly Democratic dependent groups, and utterly mindless moonbat elite Leftists in his district.
vilebody on August 19, 2009 at 12:18 PM
With stimulus money in place to buy the next election. This is now the new America…..Hollywood has been laying the groundwork for it, the commies have given them the gift. Rent IDOCRACY, that is your new America, people too stupid to plant and water a seed…..My poor children.
Barney and Maxine are “perfect” overlords….the elite and powerful will live behind guarded walls……
nondhimmie on August 19, 2009 at 12:46 PM
Fascinating fun fact: “cooties” is one of the few English words to be derived from Indonesian (okay, Malay). It refers to an actual, nasty skin disease.
