Obamateurism of the Day
posted at 8:05 am on August 18, 2009 by Ed Morrissey
Greg Hengler at Townhall revisits Barack Obama’s greenhouse — you know, a town-hall forum full of plants — to notice yet another entry in his “1 speech, 2 faces” series. In this sequence, Barack Obama says that his ObamaCare legislation won’t get involved in treatment decisions between you and your doctor. Of course, at the same time, Obama wants to protect you from Tonsil Vultures and Foot Rustlers:
This is a contradiction that has flown a little under the radar while other more obvious issues with Obama and his health-care reform get more focus. The entire program consists of putting government in charge of those decisions through funding incentives and “comparative effectiveness,” which is the reason Obama wants to scare people into believing that Tonsil Vultures and Foot Rustlers exist — but has to mollify other people by assuring them that the same Tonsil Vultures and Foot Rustlers will remain in charge of their medical care.
Maybe we should just send Obama a copy of Night of the Living Dead to get it out of his system.

Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.
Illustrations by Chris Muir of Day by Day. Be sure to read the adventures of Sam, Zed, Damon, and Jan every day!

Blatant lies. There is no trust left. Kill the bill. No negotiations. No compromises.

Excellent! Thanks for starting my day off with this. It’s going to be a great day.
Tonsil Vultures – LOL
ladyingray on August 18, 2009 at 8:08 AM
I work with Tonsil Vultures and Foot Rustlers every day.
They are evil.
ladyingray on August 18, 2009 at 8:08 AM
1 speech spewing out both sides of his arse.
SHARPTOOTH on August 18, 2009 at 8:09 AM
The man has no shame….
is he that shrewd that he truly knows he is talking out of both sides of his mouth?
if people don’t call him on it, I guess we will be seeing more of these episodes….
UGH

Oh Non! Foot rustlers! Head them off at the pass!

A politician talking out of both sides of his mouth is NEWS??!!
Jeff from WI on August 18, 2009 at 8:14 AM
Obama’s subversion of our nation is happening in front of your eyes. He lies, obfuscates, and contradicts himself in the same sentence because if people understood what he is selling he’d be run out of the White House.
Fabian socialism is insidious and destructive. Wake up. This is how Chavez came to power and destroyed the richest country in South America.
elduende on August 18, 2009 at 8:14 AM
I can’t! Only got one leg…
unclesmrgol on August 18, 2009 at 8:16 AM
The other day in one of his speeches this Harvard and Columbia educated genius was talking about people catching cancer. One of his speaches prior to the election he talked about a kid with asthma just needing a breathalyzer. What a putz.
TXMomof3 on August 18, 2009 at 8:16 AM
I wonder what his tax-payer funded personal physician thinks about him?
ladyingray on August 18, 2009 at 8:18 AM
did you notice the dow was dropping as he was talking in that first set
hmmmmmmmmmm
cmsinaz on August 18, 2009 at 8:18 AM
You cannot expect anymore from Obama than these frequent contradictions.
He doesn’t know what is actually in the House or Senate bills, so he has to cover all the bases in one speech. He assumes the people will not catch the incongruities, or don’t really care (i.e. the far left base). He assumes, in the depths of his narcissism, that face time is enough to sell his product.
Reminds me of the old story about Christopher Columbus:
He left, not knowing where he was going.
He arrived, not knowing where he was.
He returned, not knowing where he had been.
And he did it all on other people’s money.
Yoop on August 18, 2009 at 8:18 AM
All I am sure of is that he needs some schooling on medical issues. He goes off prompter and all bets are off. Good Morning!
TXMomof3 on August 18, 2009 at 8:20 AM
You know what happens when you make an assumption?
You make an ass out of you and umption…
Obamaumption…

This man has gone from having the “biggest brain” to not being able to find his way out of a paper bag in seven short months. He gives scam artists a bad name.
sherry on August 18, 2009 at 8:22 AM
Good morning!
He has a personal physician available 24/7, why doesn’t he ask that MD some questions.
Oh wait…maybe he did….
ladyingray on August 18, 2009 at 8:23 AM
‘Round these here parts, we hang Foot Rustlers. ‘Course, we tend to die early then, what with there not being no doctors left.
rbj on August 18, 2009 at 8:24 AM
It’s such a shame that the MSM is too busy with their demonizing of Glenn Beck to report on these little Obama worries.
anniekc on August 18, 2009 at 8:24 AM
Micro-managing Control Freak!!(Sarc).
No long lines,or waiting!!
I hope,no I pray,that no city has a rash of

Glen Beck is evil, didn’t you know?
ladyingray on August 18, 2009 at 8:27 AM
As a percentage, there are significantly more honest doctors than there are honest politicians.
Barack Obama has identified his target- the medical profession, and now has personalized it.
He is entirely despicable.
drjohn on August 18, 2009 at 8:27 AM
The Liberal argument is so weak they have to demonize somebody. Look at all the ad hominem arguments by the new Trolls around here.
kingsjester on August 18, 2009 at 8:27 AM

I’d like to know where the doctor’s voices are. He has denigrated them unmercifully. If he was maligning my industry, I can’t imagine that I would keep quiet. Probably nothing I have to worry about unless he is planning on capping commissions for interior designers.
sherry on August 18, 2009 at 8:34 AM
You should e-mail her back and ask her to tell BHO to quit his lying, and demonization of everyone who does not agree with him.
ICBM on August 18, 2009 at 8:35 AM
I would email her back with a simple “you first”.
sherry on August 18, 2009 at 8:35 AM
Yes, and he has an uncanny resemblence to Barney Rubble, too….
anniekc on August 18, 2009 at 8:36 AM
Doesn’t HR 3200 “prohibit” the effectiveness councils from dictating or enforcing policy or coverage per page 524 line 5? We should just trust The One, Pelosi and ol’ Dr. Zeke on this, right? They never REALLY meant to say terminal grandma shouldn’t get a new hip and that the young, based on “whole life” concepts get priority for services, right?
rotorhead on August 18, 2009 at 8:36 AM
Ya see? This is what happens when Barry goes off TOTUS. He gets discombobulated and ends up sounding like the fool he truly is. He can memorize certain phrases and repeat them over and over to make a point: “If you like your doctor bla bla bla…” But then, he feels he has to keep talking to fill up the empty space with a few extemporaneous thoughts to elaborate and emphasize his point. That’s when he gets into trouble. Basically, he LOVES the sound of his own voice. Sadly, so do his slobbering fans. He could read from the telephone book and they would swoon.
Barb Dwyer on August 18, 2009 at 8:37 AM
Okay, that was just mean.
ladyingray on August 18, 2009 at 8:38 AM
I hate going to hospitals.
Do you know why?
Whenever I go, a plethora of medical doctors come rushing after me with scalpels, saws, and other utensils used for the removal of tonsils and extremities.
It’s like a seen out of Night of the Living Dead.
Just a bunch of flesh hungry doctors, lunging at me, salivating at the thought of being able to cut me!
I’m so glad Barack is here to help me!
He filled me gas tank!

I’m interested in that too- I was in the Dermatologist’s office recently, and I tried to get her to comment on the whole thing and she just sort of grimaced and “yeah, it’ll be a mess if it passes”. I got the impression she may have voted for the fool and didn’t know where to place her opinion.

ladyingray on August 18, 2009 at 8:44 AM
It’s astonishing that, this deep into the battle, Obama keeps going back to this “better nutrition will avoid later expensive amputations” schtick. That is his best argument for how Obamacare will save money?
Besides, better nutrition information is two clicks away on the internet or two minutes away in any local library. The reason people have poor nutrition is not because they can’t afford a doctor.

If Obamacare would have been effect throughout history, we would still be using leeches.
Although Obama’s biggest donor is the leech lobby, so maybe that’s the point.

Are the arguments in favor of The Jug-eared One’s hopenchangey health care insurance reform proposals so weak that he must resort to personal attacks and the demonization of doctors, the medical profession, the insurance industry, and anyone daring to express opposition to his plans?
Apparently so. It seems that he can’t refrain from reverting to his Alinskyite tendencies when he strays from TOTUS’ carefully scripted pablum.
But he’s so damned articulate!

5,000 years ago Moses said, “pick up your shovel, pack your ass, mount your camel and I shall lead you to the promised land.
200-plus years ago George Washington said, “Get off your ass, use your shovel, clear the land, grow tobacco plants for camels and it will be the promised land.
Yesterday Barack Obama, President of the United States, said, in a Townhall Meeting, “Throw away your shovels, sit on your ass, light your camels, we’re giving you the promised land.”
Yoop on August 18, 2009 at 8:59 AM
So harsh, all of you. Don’t you realize that our President is simply trying to shut down the Texas Chainsaw Hospital?

I might have to skip that one. I like any movie with Matthew McConaughey. He is on my hot list as well.
TXMomof3 on August 18, 2009 at 9:02 AM
It all boils down to this: I trust my doctor because I know she’s looking after my best interest. I don’t trust my president because I know he couldn’t care less about my best interest.

It also offends me when I heard some idiot say something about how the new socialized medicine program will be just like the great program in place for the VA. When I heard that, I almost fell out of my chair. I would rather be dead, than stuck in a VA hospital. I can’t remember ever hearing anything good about VA care: (http://elmtreeforge.blogspot.com/2009/08/socialized-medicine-va.html) and (http://jackjacobs.newsvine.com/_news/2009/07/23/3054210-will-health-care-look-like-the-va), except when I read the story that the idiot had commented on, extolling the virtues of the VA’s health care system. I’ll bet the idiot had never even served his country a single day.
