Wal-Mart, CVS, Best Buy join Glenn Beck boycott
posted at 9:48 pm on August 17, 2009 by Allahpundit
Mind you, this is a guy who beat Hannity — a show that airs in primetime — in both total viewers and the demo last Friday at 5 p.m. Every last one of these advertisers is simply biding their time, wondering how long they have to wait until nutroots wrath is appeased and they can start advertising on Beck’s show again. I give it six months. Less if Greta gets dumped and GB ends up moved to 10 p.m.
Twenty companies have pulled their ads from Beck’s show in just the last two weeks. The moves come after the Fox News host called President Obama a “racist” who “has a deep-seated hatred for white people” during an appearance on Fox & Friends. Previous companies who pulled their ads include ConAgra, GEICO, Lawyers.com, Men’s Wearhouse, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, RadioShack, Roche, SC Johnson, Sanofi-Aventis, Sargento, and State Farm Insurance.
“We are heartened to see so many corporate citizens step up in support of our campaign against Glenn Beck,” said James Rucker, executive director of ColorOfChange.org. “Their action sends a clear a message to Glenn Beck: Broadcasters shouldn’t abuse the privilege they enjoy by spewing dangerous and racially charged hate language over the air. No matter their political affiliation, hate language doesn’t belong in our national dialogue.”
“Walmart [sic] today confirmed the retailer pulled ads from the Glenn Beck show on August 3rd,” said David Tovar, a spokesperson for Wal-Mart, in an email to ColorOfChange.org.
“While advertising on Fox is part of our communication plan, we had not requested time on Glenn Beck’s show specifically,” said Carolyn Castel, Vice President of Corporate Communications for CVS Caremark, in an email to ColorOfChange.org. “We have instructed our advertising agency to inform Fox to ensure Glenn Beck’s program is not part of our advertising plan.”
Right. Doubtless, like so many other Glenn Beck advertisers, the ad revenue will simply be redirected to other Fox News programs. Some boycott. Let’s vote on it.

Yeah, just look at Van Jones for example…
Paleeze.

If Obama was a racist, wouldn’t all of his cabinet be black?
Why is he encouraging abortion among black people and making it easier for them to kill their young?
A real black power racist would never do this.
I think some of you are forgetting that Obama is not black.
He is half white and half black.
MaximusConfessor on August 18, 2009 at 3:56 PM
Why don’t you pick up a copy of “Dreams of My Father”, or better yet, get the audio version so you can actually hear it in Obambi’s own words.

“Bicyea on August 18, 2009
I received the same canned response. Why do you say they are lying?
SKYFOX on August 18, 2009 at 1:57 PM”
More of the same responses. Media buys are much too carefully controlled for there to be errors across multiple companies regarding the same show/time slot. Media campaigns are now planned out to the demographic/timeslot/show to the “Nth” degree. The chances of this being true are infinitesimal. The only reasonable conclusion is that they are lying.
“Or maybe ‘advertizers’ don’t have the spine to stand up to the blistering campaign of customers who want censorship by proxy.”
I don’t understand why getting spammed with 145,000 template/form emails from people who are probably not even patrons would move these companies into a herd-like advertising pull from Glenn Beck’s time slots. Are they that sensitive to lefty pressure??? And why do they fail to consider the millions of folks who watch Glenn Beck who are *precisely* the demographic that patronizes their business?? They advertise there for a reason, so don’t they think by cutting support they’ll possibly alienate actual customers?? Oh well, makes my shopping choices easier in a down economy.

“I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of twelve or thirteen, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites…” – Barack Obambi
Well, he was half white until about twelve or thirteen.
RedbonePro on August 18, 2009 at 3:59 PM
Oh please. If you stretch any farther you’ll snap! Beck was not being “subtle”–he was being a dumb bloviator as usual. ‘Obama hates whites but I’m not saying he hates whites.’
And who is “Jeremiah Jones”?

MaximusConfessor on August 18, 2009 at 3:56 PM
Listen, St. Olaf. He spent 20 years in a Black Liberation Theology church, a psuedo-Black Muslim denomination. Glenn is being attacked because he has dared to point out the truth about Van Jones, the Green Czr, who is a avowed Communist with a history of activism. By smearing Mormons, you are indulging in the same hateful rhetoric that got you banned the first time.
kingsjester on August 18, 2009 at 4:01 PM
Jermiah Wright – Black supremecest, racist Preacher (who Obambi listened to for 20 years).

He must have been using some crazy mind control technique to get elected in a country with a white majority electorate. Being racist and all.
Terry Silver on August 18, 2009 at 4:06 PM
Which is what exactly? That Obama “has a deep-seated hatred for white people, or the white culture” or that Beck’s “not saying that [Obama] doesn’t like white people”?
Grow Fins on August 18, 2009 at 4:07 PM
Yeah, its called the mainstream media.
RedbonePro on August 18, 2009 at 4:08 PM
Still waiting for that cast-iron evidence of Obama’s racism…….
Grow Fins on August 18, 2009 at 4:08 PM
About the white people in the Obama cabinet: the president is crafty enough not to pick an all-black cabinet; that would have had all hackles up immediately. So the white members of the cabinet were selected with these things in mind: how Leftist they are, how laden they are with white guilt, how buyable they are, how America-hating they are and/or how stupid they are.
baldilocks on August 18, 2009 at 4:08 PM
Obama is probably a racist having sat in Jeremiah’s church for 20 years and listening to that crap. Also supported by his wife’s ongoing commentary such as “in my adult life, I’ve never been proud to be an American”…. What more evidence do we need. He undoubtedly has no love for whitey.
And, by the way, Beck is an idiot. Get him off the air. He has no class and isn’t of the same caliber as ANY of the true conservative talkers. Go away Beck. You are a moron.
highninside on August 18, 2009 at 4:09 PM
Right…sorry, forgot and used my pet nickname for him (family joke).
Obama’s disavowal of Wright was pure politics and oh so obvious. You don’t sit and listen to hate speech for year after year if you don’t, on some level, agree with it.
When Obama accused the Cambridge police of behaving stupidly, he came to that conclusion based on the fact that they were policemen and that Gates was black. So he was engaging in stereotypes based on race. How is that not racist?
Dee2008 on August 18, 2009 at 4:09 PM
Funny, the MSM thought control technique somehow slipped up and got Bush elected twice….
Grow Fins on August 18, 2009 at 4:09 PM
Ah yes the tried and true conservative argument that everybody who voted for Obama is either brainwashed or retarded. Only you have seen the light. You and Glenn Beck are the only ones who have seen through the charade to his “racism”. Gimme a break.

BadgerHawk on August 18, 2009 at 4:10 PM

Terry Silver on August 18, 2009 at 4:11 PM
Because deep down inside, he hates black people too.
Almost all black Americans have some white ancestry to a greater or lesser degree. It is irrelevant to what is being discussed. It is his attitude that’s important here when determining whether he is racist or not, not the observers’ attitudes.
baldilocks on August 18, 2009 at 4:12 PM
