Video: Utopian goofiness of Obama’s rhetoric finally explained
posted at 7:18 pm on August 17, 2009 by Allahpundit
So that explains it. I always just figured his speechwriting team was heavily into Ecstasy. Ah well, I guess this is what happens when the media doesn’t vet a candidate.
An unusual bit for The Onion in that most of the humor comes from sight gags, not the overarching concept, but mockery of The One is rare enough that we’ll take what we can get. Note especially the subject lines of the campaign e-mails that flash by, and the “details” of his health-care plan — which are about as concrete as the real-life version at the moment. Exit question: His declining poll numbers were the “trigger,” weren’t they?

SHARPTOOTH on August 17, 2009 at 7:27 PM
Joking aside, the Precedent is not bipolar; he’s a sociopath. But that claim by the Onion White House Dep Press Secratary of “productivity” was pretty funny.

That was funny. I hope it was satire.
Terrye on August 17, 2009 at 7:32 PM
And the Onion budget they had for The Precedent was far too detailed and off by a factor of 100.
The Assburger sounded about right for Biden.

Why is it that I thought this maybe exactly what the future holds? Even his full time doctors will not have a prescription needed to prop him up in a few years.

So far the only late nite host I’ve seen make any unflattering Obama jokes has been Jimmy Fallon. And judging from the amount of laughter he got,if they had panned onto the audience a majority had a look on their faces like someone was holding a small turd under their noses.
McBride on August 17, 2009 at 7:38 PM
Well we know he has a deficit disorder.
fourdeucer on August 17, 2009 at 7:39 PM
What do you do when The Onion is one of the only objective “news” outlets in the country?
MadisonConservative on August 17, 2009 at 7:39 PM
And you know what’s really sad? I would prefer to have to call him President Assburger.
progressoverpeace on August 17, 2009 at 7:41 PM
There was only like 350 billion in his budget. If he can’t get motivated to spend more than that, there must be something seriously wrong.
forest on August 17, 2009 at 7:41 PM
Well, it would explain his fed-ex, ups, postal service comment. “Hey fed-ex and UPS are doing great, post office, not so much so, let do for health care what we did for the postal service!” Okay so it’s not an exact quote, close enough though.

should of been an early warning, that sumpin ain’t right!

He said Asperger’s Syndrome…as in autistic.
Asajj Ventress on August 17, 2009 at 7:52 PM
Exactly. Conan and Dave are still riding the “Sarah Palin is Stupid” train, even though she resigned almost a month ago. They just can’t bring themselves to make fun of their liberal god. Jimmy Fallon did a Bill/Hillary marriage joke the other day and a couple of people actually booed. He was like “Yeah, I love you too.” These people that are usually in late night audiences are such uppity left-wing a$$hole losers. They must all migrate from the Daily Show.
NathanG on August 17, 2009 at 7:53 PM
What is it that they say about the effectiveness of humor….????
PaCadle on August 17, 2009 at 7:55 PM
If it sounds like Karl Marx, acts like Benito Mussolini and stumbles like Bozo the Clown, it’s probably Barack Obama!!!

The Onion and The People’s Cube are the greatest things since the original Mad Magazine.
petefrt on August 17, 2009 at 7:56 PM
No. He said Assburger … as in Biden.
progressoverpeace on August 17, 2009 at 7:58 PM
The trigger for the media to finally dip a toe into the cool, comic pool of President Obama jokes?
BadgerHawk on August 17, 2009 at 8:06 PM
No, really he said Asperger’s Syndrome… as in austistic…as in Rain Main. Do you really think being an ass is more of an insult than being of limited cognitive ability? Although in Biden’s case, it can be safely established that he is both.
Asajj Ventress on August 17, 2009 at 8:08 PM
LOL @ Joe Biden has Asperger’s syndrome. Oh My.

Heh…another “I fell off my chair” moment….
lovingmyUSA on August 17, 2009 at 8:46 PM
Grammar Nazi!! :)
We were discussing what an Assburger Biden is. With the tsunami of crap sandwiches coming out of the Washington junta, I would think that Assburgers would have been discussed long before this.
progressoverpeace on August 17, 2009 at 8:49 PM
It’s just so hard to make fun of Obama, he is just so awesome…
heh
jhffmn on August 17, 2009 at 8:55 PM
Way funnier than The Daily Show.
But don’t forget Obama’s daddy wasn’t exactly stable either, so maybe it runs in the family.

Lockstein13 on August 18, 2009 at 8:34 AM
It’s funny to me that The Onion — of all things — seems to be alone in its mockery of The One. SNL won’t touch him, nor will many contemporary stand-up acts, nor will The Daily Show. It’s okay to laugh at this right? I don’t want to be visited by a buncha union goons or receive an email from Axelrod.

Democrats aren’t used to being in power. Oppositon is a difficult concept for them.
Democrat: “Opposition! Why is there opposition? Don’t people know we’re in power now. There’s no need for opposition.”
Arturo Factori on August 18, 2009 at 11:38 AM
Wasn’t it just a few months ago when all the Obama-pundits were saying, “When you become the butt of public humor, you are finished”? They were refering to Palin, but what goes around comes around. And the humor has just begun as more and more people figure out who they voted for.
