A New Jersey blogger facing charges in two states for allegedly making threats against lawmakers and judges was trained by the FBI on how to be deliberately provocative, his attorney said Tuesday.

Hal Turner worked for the FBI from 2002 to 2007 as an “agent provocateur” and was taught by the agency “what he could say that wouldn’t be crossing the line,” defense attorney Michael Orozco said.

“His job was basically to publish information which would cause other parties to act in a manner which would lead to their arrest,” Orozco said.

Prosecutors have acknowledged that Turner was an informant who spied on radical right-wing organizations

Um, because he has every right to have that weapon and carry it?

I definitely would not have preferred it if they had rescinded his rights.

Again, maybe this was covered earlier, but I sort of assumed there might be exceptions to the open carry laws that apply to gatherings when the president is present. E.g., although my state is open carry, citizens may not enter City Hall wearing a gun.

I’m not saying that I think it’s right, I’m just wondering.

I live in an open carry state and something about this just doesn’t seem right to me.

Why was this man allowed to carry his rifle into the rally? Was the rally held in a public park? Why didn’t the Secret Service confiscate his weapon or turn him away? The man was dressed rather nicely, did someone mistake him for a Secret Service agent?

Obama recently visited my state and I heard that agents were crawling over every inch of the area in advance of the presidential visit, turning over every little leaf and rock. I’m fairly certain they wouldn’t have let me carry an AR-15 into the town hall meeting.

Exit question: Why?

As the guy who wore a gun (in an open carry state) outside the Obama Townhall told Chris Matthews, he did it to show that if you do not exercise your freedoms, you lose them

The Secret Service did not arrest him and he was not beaten up by the crowd, which makes since because he was armed

Perhaps this is the best way to hold Townhall meetings. The sidearm might give SEIU members some pause. Even if the SEIU members were also armed, I assume they would still hesitate to slam an armed senior citizen up against a wall

And having the right to do it is no more of a justification than bringing porn to a meeting with the president would be.

Unless of course you were talking about “the first Black President”.

Yet I ask you to cite my attacking people, and you first protest, then provide my confoundment that a supposed conservative(as this is a conservative website, such a supposition is quite natural) is indistinguishable from a die-hard liberal.

I guess it’s all “relative”. Well, as you say, wasn’t an attack, just a statement of fact.
