In the interests of fairness and accuracy Lamar Smith is not yet a complete milk carton candidate. The following is from an official press release.

“Congressman Lamar Smith announced today that he will
hold constituent health care forums for the 21st District of Texas on Monday
August 24 in both Kerrville and San Antonio. He is also asking constituents
to bring their opinions in writing and he will deliver them to the White
House and Congressional Leadership.”

Date 8/24/09 9:30 in Kerrville at the Cailloux center.

at 12:30 in San Antonio at the Schertz Civic Center.

“At the forums, Smith will talk to constituents about his health care
priorities, listen to their ideas and concerns, and field questions. ”

It should also be noted that Smith is AGAINST Obamacare, not for it. Those who can should please attend to show support for his position.

Update on Dan Boren (D, OK) who finally did schedule town halls.
He stated in his Muscogee townhall, that he would not support any health care bill that included a public option. I guess he is geting it after all. My apology to congresscritter Boren for doing the right thing.

Chris Carney, D-Pa., just met with constituents in Honesdale, Pa. today and has several more town halls scheduled. I’d recommend removing Carney from the list.
However, his Northeast PA colleague, Paul Kanjorski, has not met with anyone constituents, except through those stupid telephone conferences. Kanjo loves getting his face on CNBC’s Squawk Box (there was a period when he was on daily), but he is MIA in his home district.
I recommend adding Paul Kanjorski, D-Pa.

My Senator is Chuck Grassley, and I have called him once a week. (I don’t count Tom Harking as my senator–I have called him also–knowing I am talking to thin air…) Senator Grassley was mentioned on Newsbusters today:

Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley has publicly released a letter he penned to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Julius Genachowski regarding the July 29th announced appointment of new FCC Associate General Counsel and Chief Diversity Officer Mark Lloyd.

In the press release accompanying the missive, the Senator said he was “concerned with the appointment due to Lloyd’s writings on political talk radio and the Fairness Doctrine.”

Supposedly, Charlie Wilson (OH-6) held one (count ‘em, one) town hall, in the farthest reaches of his district. I ended up hand-delivering my letter of opposition to his office, I’m not holding my breath that he’d actually deign to talk to his constituents here.

Tim Ryan (OH-17) showed up today to face his constituents.

Wait, no, that wasn’t a town hall. That was a room full of university faculty and staff, and he was droning on about all the pork he’s brought to Youngstown State.

This snake legislator showed up at the University of Texas at El Paso, w/ Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano for the 6th annual Border Security Conference and Clown Show. He actually received some heckling from some of the attendees who wanted to talk about health care. This obviously was not a health care forum, so our brave Representative had a call-in discussion for a whole hour on one of the local radio shows. Most of us knew he was too chicken to show up by himself in person, to talk about what his constituents really wanted to discuss.

He is currently missing in action.

My CrapWeasel Congresswoman Melissa Bean is holding a Healthcare Townhall disguised as a Chamber Breakfast on September 2 (Wednesday) 7:30AM to 9:30AM at the Concorde Banquet Hall (gated private property on a major highway with no place to stand and protest) in Lake Zurich, IL and CHARGING $25 Per Person to be in her blessed presence.

So let me get this straight……I have to PAY to access my congressional representative but a lobbyist gets to see her in Washington for FREE.

Middle of the work week, AM rush hour, pay to get in, gated private property eliminates protesters, give away VIP passes to supporters and stack the audience. She has really done her homework on this, wish she were as thorough on READING THE F*****G Bill!!!!!

My Honorable Representative…………what a douche bag. Can’t wait for 2010.

Delaware’ congressional delegation –that would be Carper, Castle and Kaufman — will not be holding townhalls during the August recess. They said they will meet with constituents “in other kinds of forums.” Right.
