Quotes of the day

“Put a bill out there, make them filibuster it. Make them be what they are — the party of no. Look, we spend — the truth of the matter is, we spend about $8,000 per person in the United States on health care. The second — the country that seconds the second most is Switzerland, they spend $4,000. That means you have got $4,000 per person more that we spend on health care, that is $1.2 trillion, 4,000 times 300 million. And you know what? Run on it. A lot of people — and we’re not producing any kind of results that double that money provides. Let them kill it. Let them kill it with the interest group money, then run against them. That’s what we ought to do.”

***
“Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), who led the crafting of the bill the House GOP put forth as a rival to the president’s health care proposal, told POLITICO that ‘the momentum is just now becoming visible.’…

‘A win for us is anything that improves the current situation without damaging the good things about our system,’ said Price, adding that any bill that does not include a public option, employer mandates and the rationing of care could be looked at as something of a success for his party.”

***
“I will never vote for a bill to kill old people, period.”

The fight is far from over. Even if the Dhimmicrats shelve the health care bill(s) we need to be vigilant.

Only about 15% (estamites vary) of the”stimulus” money has benn released. I suspect that in Jan./Feb. next year, they will open the money tap and flood the market with funny money.

This will give people a false sense of economic relief for which PrecedentMackDaddy, DirtyHarry, and SanFranNan will take credit. They will use this to try and to keep themselves in power.

The Democrats new favorite health care country is Switzerland.

Switzerland with a landlocked population of 7.7 million well-to-do income (mostly caucasian) people living primarily in clean, modern cities with modern transportation systems in a country the size of Tennessee.
All citizens are very well educated and have jobs (5% unemployment rate).
Very few illegal immigrants.

Then compare that with the U.S. One can´t compare Switzerland with the US. Totally different demographics, size, dynamics, people, education, immigrant situation.

(And each Swiss family is issued a gun by the government. Maybe the Democrats want to copy that, too.)

The President who fixed too much spending in Washington by quadrupling spending is going to fix health care spending?

You might have something there. Bill has been out in the public a little more than usual and he was giving the administration some advice on how to handle this mess.

Howard Dean came out and said that this was just a tactic and that the final bill would have a public option.

highhopes on August 17, 2009 at 7:43 AM

the truth of the matter is, we spend about $8,000 per person in the United States on health care.

Why should the government be spending a dime?! Get out of it and the cost will go down! Stop taxing us to death and we will use our own money and buy our own health care! Leave us alone! We don’t want you in the business!

The second — the country that seconds the second most is Switzerland, they spend $4,000.

Cost! Cost! Cost! See?? If the government is in this it will not be about health care,, it will be about cost!! Cutting cost!! How do you cut cost?? Eliminate the care!!
If it is true Switzerland spends less, maybe it’s because they ration and kill their patients! But again,,, why is the government spending any money on it in the first place??!! Get out of it!! Leave us alone!!!
I do not want the government telling me my doctor costs them too much!! Go away!! Get out of the car business! Get out of the housing business!
If you really cared about costs why don’t you try protecting our borders!!! Start there! Get the illegal problem under freaking control and maybe a health care costs and a lot of other costs in this country would start to go down!!

DEAN: According to him, the health care public option talking points are simple. “First, who gets to choose, the people or the health care companies. Second, the people have made their voice very clear. They want a public option.”

huh?
holy cow

Thanks for the link. Typical Howard Dean – blame everyone else. For an administration that runs like a well-oiled machine, they clearly talk to each other with smoke signals. With key players singing from different tunes, it further erodes any inkling of credibility they had on this issue.

sherry on August 17, 2009 at 8:11 AM

As if they didn’t look stupid and out of touch enough, now they’re going to backtrack on yesterday’s announcement. You can’t trust them because you can’t verify their statements. They are a bunch of lying liars.

People already realize the emperor has no clothes.

We’re tired of paying for Obama’s streaking parties.

Ok, that is funny.

Mommypundit on August 17, 2009 at 8:43 AM

I never really thought about it because out of sight out of mind prevails but, Dr. Howard Dean would be perfect to run Rahm and Obambi Health Care Plan.

Bet that scarces the hell out of you! Would never let that freak treat me.

Thank you Sarah Palin for redefining the debate and bring the horror of this House bill to light.

This is why the liberals keep hammering Palin. She is effective.

Mallard T. Drake on August 17, 2009 at 1:09 AM

Yep!

The Crazy Left’s obsession with Sarah bit them in the a$$ this time. They put the spotlight on Sarah’s “death panels” remark to humiliate and destroy her. “Death Panels” quickly became the buzzword to describe a horrific and intrusive House bill.

Sarah had the Republican men playing catch up! I just became a monthly contributor to SarahPac. Love that woman!

When Carville said “we spend”, was he referring to the money that American’s spend for their own healthcare or tax dollars spent on federal programs or both? Isn’t he confusing American’s individual spending with government spending and would that not suggest that he believes (like most liberal/progressives) that all money belongs to the government? Or did I read too much into his statement?

SKYFOX on August 17, 2009 at 9:30 AM

Is it just me? or are there no attributions to the quotes?

If it’s not just me, attributions would be nice.

The first was James Carville, the second was Tom Price (R, Ga), the third was Rep. Mike Ross (D-Ark.).
