Right Online interview: Pat Toomey

I got an opportunity to speak with Pat Toomey, former Congressman and president of the Club for Growth, who will run for the US Senate against either incumbent Arlen Specter or Rep. Joe Sestak. Toomey talks about the broad appeal of economic freedom, and how he routinely attracted Democrats to his banner in a working-class Congressional district. Find out the shocking thing Toomey did as a politician, and don’t forget to visit his campaign website and read his new book, The Road to Prosperity: How to Grow Our Economy and Revive the American Dream.

Ed are there more people at you conference than the Netroots? I saw a panel on C-Span and lots of empty space.

Great interview.

Nice to see a (seemingly) fiscal conservative articulate his views succinctly.

I saw an estimate that 1,500 left bloggers and 600 to 700 right bloggers were expected to attend.

William Amos on August 14, 2009 at 7:34 PM

He sounds pretty strong to me…some RINOs were saying he’s too ‘conservative’ for PA…certainly not the kind of extremist Frum or MeggieMac could support, but I can and will. That is such a huge race in so many ways.

Did you happen to watch Howard Dean?

misslizzi on August 14, 2009 at 7:37 PM

William Amos on August 14, 2009 at 7:34 PM

That certainly sounds respectable.

misslizzi on August 14, 2009 at 7:37 PM

I didn’t. I saw one panel of what I think were bloggers and then another with two Democrats from the House. zzzzzzzzzzzz

Cindy Munford on August 14, 2009 at 7:47 PM

Good interview Ed. I wish I could contribute since I don’t live in PA to vote for him. Stupid lottery.

Please get pay some money to redesign your website. It does not look professional at all.

Sorry about the typo. The font and color are just wrong.

I know I have said this before but you are amazing with the links you come up with. Thanks. I will mention that if they think the Right is catching on now, let the current administration succeed at interfering with talk radio. I don’t even know how hard they are really trying but woe be unto them if they do. The Right will own the internet.

Cindy Munford on August 14, 2009 at 7:54 PM

I posted a link to this on Pat Toomey’s facebook page. Great interview, he has my vote.

msmveritas on August 14, 2009 at 8:40 PM

I’m voting Pat.

JellyToast on August 14, 2009 at 9:09 PM

Did you ask why he supported the racist Sotomayor?

NO. That is Lexington and Concord time.

NO. That is Lexington and Concord time.

bill30097 on August 14, 2009 at 9:26 PM

No, and I wish more people thought about this before speaking/writing. It would be closer to Civil War time. Families divided. States, maybe divided; you almost hope you would have the support of your state or a state. Realisticaly, how many people are going to start shooting? And, in the beginning, wouldn’t they get thrown in jail even by the local cops, much less the feds?

We are not colonies vs Britan. Who is the bad guy? They don’t wear red coats! They guy you shoot could be born in the same place and time as you and just be doing his job with no particular political view himself. So you are going to kill him to get to someone higher?

We are not even at the level of violence of the 60s. We are not students against authority. Besides, do you really want to link yourself in style to Ayers? What is next, a march down to the radio station to try to take it over? I’m certain that will not end well.

You advocate violence, and you can’t even mobilize enough voters to have prevented this situation. Watch how many more drop from your side as soon as you do something stupid.

There will be violence if Obama via his administration or the Congress cut back our free speech via the Fairness Doctrine.

That WILL trigger violence. I’m not advocating it.

I am simply stating a TRUTH.

It will result in violence somewhere. Accept it.

Watched Toomey on CSPAN tonite…

Will be watching him a lot more. We need more like him.

coldwarrior on August 14, 2009 at 11:57 PM

I think that I will move to PA ~ long enough to vote him into office and then head back to my rightwing nutroots~ racist bible clinging~redneck who is dear to their guns way to life.
God Bless

I just hope this PA election will not have the same outcome as 08 Murtha fiasco. Remember the enthusiasm about defeating Murtha……

TopLawyer on August 15, 2009 at 3:14 AM

bill30097,

Did you ask why he supported the racist Sotomayor?

Toomey isn’t currently in office. When he was, he was in the House, not the Senate.
