Please post your external proof of basic rules of civility as evidenced by a printed guidebook of some sort…otherwise I will have to come to the conclusion that you are subjecting me to your opinions instead of fact.

Please prove that it was wrong to subject Laura Bush to political attacks through the basic rules of civility handbook. My assertion was that families are not off limits…there are no legal precedents, no written guides, and that people of the United States of America are free to be aholes if they want to.
CMonster on August 14, 2009 at 11:29 AM

This is cute;
Upthread, when you made a couple of statements, (which you presented as if they were either fact, or generally understood to be truths) I asked you for supporting proofs.

Instead of providing them, you have answered me back with a similar challenge.

I will answer.

Please post your external proof of basic rules of civility as evidenced by a printed guidebook of some sort…otherwise I will have to come to the conclusion that you are subjecting me to your opinions instead of fact.

There is an excellent printed guidebook, which contains all the basic rules of civility one could need.

It’s called the Bible.
Try Matthew 25:40 “Inasmuch as you have done it to one of the least of these my brothers, you have done it to me.”
And, Luke 6:31 “Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.”

These rules are widely accepted by many, and practiced by many, so they should suffice.

As to your second request:

Please prove that it was wrong to subject Laura Bush to political attacks through the basic rules of civility handbook. My assertion was that families are not off limits…there are no legal precedents, no written guides, and that people of the United States of America are free to be aholes if they want to.

This is also answered by my previous citations.

Sarah coined the term "death panel" which is now the rage and through her coments changes have been made. Next, dump the whole medical exercise for now. She is just barely set in the saddle folks. She is mounted up and, then, look out. Ride Sarah, Ride. Get on board that Love Train and bring sense and savvy and ability and experience to this WH in 2012. Bring America back to us. Go Sarah. So far more than good.

umm, "real" conservatives (palinstinians) sank him because he is a gay-touching, mexican-hugging rino libtard. remeber?

yet every time an actual conservative who's not afraid of entering the life of the mind says something aligned with the palinstinian cult, th cultists recite a bunch of "too little too late" in reference to things the subject has always said.

No leadership skills is right. Maybe that will teach Americans to vote for someone with skills and actual experience next time. Geez, what a disaster these voters created. It will take years to undo the damage he's done, and some of it, like cap and trade and health care, may not be fixable. McCain may not have been the best candidate in the world, but I know he wouldn't have spent us into oblivion.

It is very curious that all Obama wants to do is campaign. You would think everything has gone to his head and he just thinks it takes a nice speech with platitudes to get something done.
You can get away with that in the election, you cannot get away with that as President.
People want a President who will lead. And in a year or two this will be the primary complaint on Obama, not being willing to lead. Think of the great Presidents, all were people who were great leaders followed by their words. Not words followed by a smile and more words.

“It has to be with cost, because it costs money with every single person that is covered. That cost has to come from somewhere, which means something has to be cut,” the former Republican presidential candidate explained. “So where are you going to decrease services? There is a great fear that it will be by cutting off care for the elderly.”

When Granny comes home with some pills in a plastic bag
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Obama will give her a hearty high five then
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The Emanuels will cheer, the Kevorkians will shout
The eugenicists they will all turn out
And the old folks will all be dead by Christmas time next year!

Get ready for the Ezekiel Emanuel Jubilee
Hurrah! Hurrah!
He’ll give Dr Obama three times three
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The Doctor of Life and Death degree is ready now
To place upon Obama’s Godly brow
And he will feel so happy and gay
When Pallbearers carry Grandma and Grandpa to the funeral home

A real leader would have taken control of the process and of the legislation. Yet Obama seems content with his role as salesman instead of executive, speaking around the country in support of a bill that he hasn’t read.

Exactly, Ed. And a poor salesman at that, not listening to his customer's objections. Instead of recognizing he has a product defect and going back and making some changes, he just keeps pushing the product. Being a true narcissist, it's impossible for him to admit he's wrong and he hears our complaints. Instead, he believes we just haven't seen the light yet and recognize the miracle product he has so he keeps selling.

Obama never did a stitch of real work as a State Sen or a US Sen, so why exactly would you expect him to start now? All has has ever been good at is selling his favorite product, himself, and running for the next highest office. I expect that any day now he will declare his candidacy for chancellor of the universe.

These people are some of the most incompetent managers I have ever seen. Unlike King Midas, everything they touch turns to a substance other than gold (quite stinky,IYKWIMITYD). This "administration" is more amateurish than Ted Mack's Original Amateur Hour.

Absolutely no doubt about that. Though I do think you are overlooking McCain’s propensity to cut deals with Democrats including hard left individuals like Feingold and Kennedy. Given the fact that McCain was more interested in courting Democrats than energizing his base, I suspect he would have been a President that would have been brokering deals with the other side and ignoring the concerns of social conservatives like me.

I didn't totally overlook it but I was hoping that between being POTUS and letting VPOTUS bend his ear (or twist it), he wouldn't have as much opportunity. As Senator, he's got too much time on his hands and too much time on the Sunday talk shows. As President, I hoped he would be more insulated.

Alas, we'll never know. I'm all for moving forward on potential candidates for 2012. He's one of my Senators too so I'm all for moving forward with his replacement if one steps up. That stunt he pulled with Feingold/Kennedy and with the immigration closed door fiasco was enough for me as my Senator. Somehow I don't think that will happen in 2010. Jeff Flake is my district rep and I like him except I think he is wishy-washy on immigration reform and he is probably doing more good in the House right now, IMO. Next time maybe.

Anyway, good talking with you highhopes.

Obama sees himself as the "Campaigner in Chief", and not much else. That's why he needs dozens of Czars and hundreds of advisers to tell him how to think and to get things done. It's exactly what we feared when a person with so little executive experience was nominated for chief executive of the country.

You can't be a leader if you're a leftist, not in the way Giuliani means. A leftist doesn't want to lead; he wants to dictate. A leader, at least in America, needs to accept the premise of imperfection, that is, a vision in deference to our great civic compact. A leftist wants none of that. He only sees the perfection of his vision, uncontaminated by lessers and their lesser, unholy visions.

To your first point; it’s not an article of the constitution, but the rules of basic civility that make them off limits.

I strongly disagree, with regard to Michelle Obama. She campaigned, made highly-ideological speeches, continues to be actively involved in policy.

They use her to prop up The One's declining popularity. She basks in MSM adoration.

Not only is it OK to attack her. It's obligatory.

A real leader would have taken control of the process and of the legislation. Yet Obama seems content with his role as salesman instead of executive, speaking around the country in support of a bill that he hasn’t read.

But that would require the mope to do some actual work; a concept utterly foreign to him. All rhetoric and no action.

Instead of working, he's giving interviews to 11 year old girls and jetting around the globe, basking in the glow.
