Report: Edwards to admit that mistress’s baby is his
posted at 6:20 pm on August 13, 2009 by Allahpundit
And so, more than a year after Silky lied his ass off on ABC about the baby not being his, he’s finally ready to come clean. How appropriate that the Enquirer, which dragged big media to this story kicking and screaming, apparently forced the final revelation with yesterday’s report on a secret DNA test confirming paternity. WRAL TV in North Carolina delivers the coup de grace:
Sources have told WRAL News that they expect former U.S. Sen. John Edwards to admit that he is the father of his former mistress’ 18-month-old daughter.
Edwards, a two-time Democratic presidential candidate, confessed last August to having an affair with Rielle Hunter, who served as a videographer on Edwards’ 2008 campaign. He has denied fathering her daughter, saying his relationship with Hunter ended before the child was conceived…
A federal grand jury is investigating whether Edwards’ campaign funds were illegally paid to Hunter to keep quiet about the affair…
Sources said Edwards’ public admission could come before the end of the criminal investigation.
The rumors of hush money laundered through the campaign have also been around for ages. From what I remember of how this all played out, Silky caught a bad break when his pal/money man Fred Baron died. It was Baron who had been sending payments to Hunter and fall guy Andrew Young, supposedly out of simple kindness towards a couple that was in a tough spot. Once Baron died and the money stopped flowing, Young started angling for a book deal and the dominoes began falling, making this a rare scandal where pretty much everything was exactly what it looked like and played out exactly as you’d expect.
Here’s a trip down memory lane from last August, a few days before Hunter’s sister felt obliged to remark publicly on how much the baby looked like Silky. Skip ahead to 45 seconds in. Exit quotation:
WOODRUFF: I need to ask about probably the most controversial allegation. Which is that a report has been published that the baby of Ms. Hunter is your baby. True?
EDWARDS: Not true. Published in a supermarket tabloid. That is absolutely not true.

“That welfare sure buys a lot of steak.” is one of my favorites.
TMK on August 13, 2009 at 6:52 PM
When I was a kid we grew up poor and we were on food STAMPS. So, dad would drag us through the store, load up the food, put it on the belt and the cashier would ring it up by hand. Dad always ducked out and left me holding the “stamps”. Whenever you handed the stamps to the cashier the manager needed to come and approve them.
/Those were the days when people had a certain degree of shame by living off the gubmint. Today? not so much.
Key West Reader on August 13, 2009 at 6:52 PM
-oh, he’s nothing.
-why are we talking about him?
-he’s yesterday’s news.
BS. Until the day this snake has his head cut-off with a shovel, he would have tried to worm his way back into a Democrat administration. And he would have been welcomed back. By the Grace of God his “rehabilitation tour” has failed.
Marcus on August 13, 2009 at 6:54 PM
Precisely.
I’m not advocating welfare, but at least back in the day there was a necessary stigma.
Today, it’s kewl or something.

That had to have been embarrassing.
TXMomof3 on August 13, 2009 at 6:56 PM
Have you seen the “food-stamp pimp” yet. Worked at a convenience store, filthy pair of welfare leeches come in dragging a trio of filthy kids, buying a bunch of over-priced food with her card. Three hours later, same guy comes in with a different welfare leech and her kids, buying more overpriced food.
Made me want to punch him right in the face.

I give Billy Jeff a pass on that one. He was schtupping anything that moved for 40+ years. A failure of memory can be forgiven in the case of Monica.

If Edwards was the president at this time, the media would have painted him as responsible and complimented him on his honesty.

Who cares about the kid? This Presidential wannabe became a multi-millionaire at a relatively young age by suing insurance companies. Hmmmh, how would Obamacare address the John Edwards out there who make a living sucking the blood out of those evil insurance companies…What is the impact of litigation on overall healthcare costs? What percent? It seems to me that insurance companies and lawyers are locked in an exquisite embrace where they both happen to be paid by the American consumers…

John Edwards(D) is a fine family man… I mean he started two of them! Probably one for each of the “Two Americas”.
DANEgerus on August 13, 2009 at 7:14 PM
Anyone who has ever seen that picture of that little girl with her mom already KNEW he had sired her.
That should be enough… for his wife to sue him out of EVERYTHING he owns… including that huge mansion of his with the “No Trespassing” sign for the reading pleasure of the “other America” he seems to be so concerned about…
newton on August 13, 2009 at 7:14 PM
Honestly, any man who would cheat on his wife while she was terminally ill is slime. To make his act even worse, he didn’t use protection, could have brought home something bleach wouldn’t kill. Also, having some other woman having your husband’s child would be unimaginable. Like my dad would say, “He ain’t worth killin’”
TXMomof3 on August 13, 2009 at 7:16 PM
To all who think that this ends the political career of this sorry little ambulance chaser, remember this: Teddy Kennedy drove a chick off a bridge and let her drown while trying to come up with some cover for his poor judgment.
(Hey! It’s my first post! Hey y’all!)

You’ve got a point but I think it’s over for Silky. He doesn’t have anywhere near the support network or political clout that Teddy had and indeed still has.

Kennedy had one thing working for him that Silky doesn’t. Kazillions of dollars.
When Elizabeth gets done with Johnny-Boy he’s going to find himself hanging out with that other America he was always talking about …… without a nickel to his name.

Percy_Peabody on August 13, 2009 at 7:24 PM
Huh.
How could she possibly have even gotten pregnant?
Edwards is not a supporter of “abstinence only” education.
After all, everyone knows that it was that “abstinence education” that Sarah Palin gave her daughter that got her pregnant.

At least it wasn’t a man and he wasn’t using meth while having gay sex and at least the women didn’t die while he was coming up with an implausible story. Then again, his wife is dying of terminal cancer. Alright, Edwards is less evil than Ted Bundy and more evil than Ebeneezer Scrooge.

I haven’t read the entire thread so if I am duplicating someone’s point, sorry. The best thing about this is how the real media couldn’t be bothered to look into one of their heroes and have manged to get scooped twice by, what did he call it, “a supermarket tabloid”. The other is just how shallow the depth of friendships are on the Left. I am pretty sure party donations are being spent as advantageously as they could be.
Cindy Munford on August 13, 2009 at 7:33 PM
What a tool, the Gary Hart-pants of the last election comes clean after he is forced to give dna. He knew the child was his but still made the Mother of his child use dna to force the issue. He will use the baby as a prop in his attempted come back but he can only love the face in the mirror.

Cindy Munford on August 13, 2009 at 7:40 PM
Exactly. At least the “stigma” attached to it in the old days gave people some kind of incentive to do better for themselves. Today, it’s no different than using a debit card from your bank.

There is a built in tendency to seek out the speck of dust in others’ eyes, especially those we do not like, while ignoring the glaring wooden planks in our own eyes and in those whom we like. It takes a conscience, integrity and vigilance to avoid being a hypocrite.
I recall when such characteristics would have been considered a professional duty within enough of the MSM so that they could not get away as a whole with being so uniformly biased so frequently. Yet not today. So much of the media is either parroting, spreading dirt, burying, strutting raw temptation, or avoidance in pleasantries. Strange culture in which we are living.

Yes, it was. That’s the difference between “need” and “entitlement”. The queens swipe the EBT cards like credit (off my back), like they swipe Katrina cards for Dooney and Bourke (off my back).
You learn, as a child, what you want to be. And, what you don’t want to be. I chose my path. Others have been on the same path for so long that they don’t see an exit. This is the path that Obama espouses.
BTW, please, MOM, be safe on 9/12. I gotta stay local because I’m growing increasingly worried for safety reasons.

Lying sack of sh*t.
“Coming clean” a year after stonewalling and shamelessly lying is in no way “clean” It’s the perfect example of the lowest kind of character that a stained blue dress or a paternaty test is the only thing that can force you into being “honest” after straight-face lying and finger pointing at your accusers. Being honest means you do it without already being caught in your lie.
Scrappy on August 13, 2009 at 8:15 PM
Edwards was able to have an ongoing affair and father a child right in front of his crack team of investigative journalist. Super sleuths they are not.
But you are right. They did indeed know, and they covered for him. That is entirely plausible. Not even journalists can be that blind.

I never could figure out why Silky complained about his dad working in a mill because around here a job in a mill or factory would be considered a great job. If Edward’s dad was around now his job would have probably be out sourced and I am surprized too that Silky preferred women over men. He just acts so femmy.

John Edwards’ wife was literally dying of cancer. She was literally on her death bed until her highly successful American healthcare cancer treatments (before Obamacare destroyed that life-saving medical success story… which it will) began to beat the cancer back into remission.
So what’s a faithful and loving husband that’s running for political office to do while his wife dies?
Go out on the campaign trail and shag some nominally attractive air-head hippy chick repeatedly until she’s knocked up. Then to frost the cake, deny the affair and deny your own child, on national television, with a straight face, while funneling campaign funds to your knocked up concubine through the rinse cycle to keep her big yapper shut with hush money… and of course end the illicit affair when the ol’ ball-n-chain recovers from her cancer and appears to be staying around for awhile longer than the faithful and loving husband had expected her to.
There are no words to describe the descpicable and loathsome creature that is John Edwards. I bet he even begged her to get an abortion, repeatedly.
Frankly, being the bottom feeding scum bag John Edwards has proven he is, I’m surprised he just didn’t have her ‘whacked’ since he is just one rung from the bottom of the food chain anyway.
And to think that jerkoff could have been VPOTUS, or even POTUS, if he had shucked and jived and denied his little bundle of joy a little better.
But then again, we still have Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Murtha, Franken, etc ad nauseum; et al. Half a dozen of one… six of another. Whatever. Edwards is just one spoke in the wheel of Democrats with no conscience and no soul.
