New proof that all town-hall protesters are racist: Guy tears up woman’s Rosa Parks poster
posted at 1:25 pm on August 13, 2009 by Allahpundit
A “Larger Truth” brought to you by the same nutroots liars who now insist that eight years of Bush = Hitler rhetoric was fringe stuff that shouldn’t be used to tar the entire left. I suppose if you can believe that quoting the Boston Globe amounts to “stalking,” you can believe that fears of socialized medicine are really all about resegregating buses. Funny thing about this: The whole thing happens so fast, and the perpetrator’s angle of view is so acute, that it looks like he never even saw what was on the poster. As McCaskill herself — to her great credit — notes in the second clip below, this was almost certainly a case of overreaction to the “no signs allowed” policy at the town hall rather than some targeted attack on a civil-rights icon. But this is where our national “debate” is right now, so behold racism in action. QED.

I would argue that falling victim to race baiting is the epitome of ignorance.

Maybe you can graduate to super-racist by pointing out slavery in Africa still exists and has been going strong for 5,000+ years.
Oh, but then you have to mention Islam.
Look, if people are so passionate about this issue, go to Sudan or Niger and fight against slavery that still exists.
My family was scratching out a meager living in Ireland until the late 1930s, so I will not be guilted into ruining this country – a country that my grandparents risked a lot to come to.
Of course, even if I my family traced it’s roots back to Jamestown, my feeling would be the same.

Yeah, I just can’t stand having my plantation stocked up with shiftless, lazy Native Americans.
Not that I would want to, um, stereotype anybody, of course.

daesleeper on August 13, 2009 at 3:53 PM
Where did you learn that? In the Race and Eugenics course at Black History University?
guntotinglibertarian on August 13, 2009 at 3:53 PM
True.
Wrong.
European immigrants benefited greatly from a series of welfare programs that were specifically created for them under the Roosevelt Administration and which were continued through Truman and Eisenhower.
Historians of the New Deal/WW2/”Fair Deal” Era refer to what happened as the creation of a “two-tiered welfare state.” In essence, that there was a welfare system for white male industrial laborers and one for everyone else. For example, if you were a domestic worker or a farm laborer you got bubkis from the Social Security Act, the creation of unemployment insurance, or workplace hazard insurance in the New Deal.
Worse, when we thnk about the creation of the middle class, that transition for so many European immigrant childrens from working class to middle class we have to talk about the Federal Housing Authority (the FHA), urban deindustrialization and the solidification of whites only policies within industrial unions after the war. The FHA was the most pernicious whites only welfare system that, single handedly gave a generation of white workers sweetheard loans for their first home, the basis of wealth for so many families who moved into the middle class during the 40s and 50s. Unfortunately, there were no conditions placed on FHA loans. Realtors who openly refused to show or sell houses to African Americans in suburban areas were not barred from giving their customers access to the program (hint, nearly ALL realtors engaged in this practice). So even if African Americans got access to one “tier” of expanded welfare via Aid to Families with Dependent Children, working African Americans were never allowed to take into the more important second tier of welfare, FHA loans. Another “tier” of welfare was federal support of the conversion of urban war-time industrial plants into suburban manufacturing plants. While employment discrimination against African Americans was barred in federal employment during the war, as plants converted into private operations, no such anti-employment discrimination laws existed in the late 40s and 50s. Despite this, the federal government spent billions of dollars assisting industry in their move to the suburbs, i.e. welfare for whites.
I won’t babble on for too much longer, but yeah. It’s wrong to assume that white people did not have federal “welfare” assistance as they transitioned from immigrants to the middle-class. And, I think because there wasn’t a lynch mob involved people assume that these things just happened. No they were planned.

Let me see if I can sum it up: because I ignore your juvenile taunts about “fat old white man” (nothing racist there), then it becomes an historical fact that slavery lasted 400 years.

robertnyc212 on August 13, 2009 at 4:17 PM
Yes, a difference that was purposeful. One set of programs were meant to assist white communities acheive economic independence, one set of programs was meant to compensate for the racist administration of the other programs. The problem wasn’t “government program.” The problem was racist distribution of federal resources. The suburbs and the middle class lifestyle enjoyed by generations of whites (and very gradually, non-whites) is an example of how effective the government is in manufacturing a middle class, quite literally.
CrankyIndependent on August 13, 2009 at 4:18 PM

Native Americans owned every kind of slaves. They had white slaves too when they could get them. They made slaves of each other or anyone they conquered in battle that lived. Generally they would just pick up any likely looking child that was left behind after a raid. Sometimes they would adopt them, but often they were just slaves.
In some areas of the country, Native Americans were enslaved. On the pacific coast, the Spanish priests were in constant conflict over the way Spanish soldiers were treating the natives they took as slaves. Generally though, it was harder to keep Native Americans as slaves because it was easier for them to be rescued by their family.

oakpack on August 13, 2009 at 4:20 PM
Just to be clear Reagannut, even if we conceede the distinction between welfare “dependence” and welfare “assistance” the point remains, federal welfare was necessary for the creation of the white middle class.

“Into the late 20th century, the South changed from a Democratic monolith to a majority Republican sector of the country with GOP gains in state legislatures. This change, which became quite evident in 1972 with the electoral success of Richard Nixon’s “Southern Strategy”, peaked with the elections of Ronald Reagan in 1980 and George H. W. Bush in 1988.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixiecrat
robertnyc212 on August 13, 2009 at 4:26 PM
You’re 100% sure of the conditions underwhich your grandparents bought their home. You know if they got a FHA assisted loan? Lived in a community nearby an industrial plant? Since I’m assuming they were white we can assume your grandfather didn’t face racial discrimination in his attempt to find a job.
It doesn’t take away from their accomplishments to acknowledge that the government worked to create conditions that would allow white citizens to succeed during and after the war and did not do the same for others.

You are making an unfounded assumption because it fits your worldview. They bought their house with cash and did not work in a protected or subsidised industry.
You might be surprised that this will hold true for most people in the middle class – they were not subsidised to get there. It speaks volumes about liberals that they think it is impossible to get ahead without the government helping. You can try to pull people into the middle class anyway you want but they only way to get there and stay there is under your own power.

That’s fine but, that’s history! It wasn’t until the civil rights bill was signed that they went over to the republican party! And what’s hysterical about that it was mostly republicans that supported the bill!
http://www.congresslink.org/civilrights/1964.htm
The Democratic leadership and Humphrey could not control the southern wing of the party. Many of Russell’s forces feared their southern constituents would vote them out of office if, as senators, they voted for equal rights for blacks. Election imperatives trumped loyalty to their party’s majority. The “southern bloc” held out hope that presidential candidate George Wallace, a segregationist from Alabama, would do well in the early presidential primaries. If Wallace seemed popular, Russell would argue that the nation as a whole did not support federal civil rights legislation and that the Senate should not pass an unwanted bill. Southern senators could not compromise. Only by forcing cloture could they demonstrate to their constituents that they had fought to the end even against hopeless odds. Russell also believed there was a growing backlash against the increasingly radical tactics of civil rights protestors. A filibuster that would postpone legislation as long as possible would give the backlash time to reach a critical mass.
The Republican Party was not so badly split as the Democrats by the civil rights issue. As it turned out, only one Republican senator would participate in the filibuster against the bill. In fact, since 1933, Republicans had a more positive record on civil rights in Congress than the Democrats. In the twenty-six major civil rights votes since 1933, a majority of Democrats opposed civil rights legislation in over 80 percent of the votes. By contrast, the Republican majority favored civil rights in over 96 percent of the votes.

TY truce. I think all americans but maybe a select few want the same thing for our country. But, I many have become confused what our country represents to not only ourselves but, to others that either want to come here or admire us for what we have accomplished. I think many have awaken to the fact we have lost our common sense and lost a good part of our history through complacency. If we don;t get this under control now we will lose this country for ever and the founders great experiment will have been for naught!
One thing I have always remembered from my education is a quote from Ben Franklin after the constitutional convention.
A woman came up to him and asked him what have you given us? He said; “A Republic If You Can Keep It”
I also, had a professor say the pendulum alwaus swings back.

Best to you as well!

guntotinglibertarian on August 13, 2009 at 5:39 PM
I think it goes deeper than that….I believe they feel they’re entitled to HC on the tax payer dime as part of reparations as “O” does. Rosa was a woman that stood up to the white man as a defender of the blacks that would not be bullied by not moving from her seat. She was correct in her fight for equal rights. But, many blacks are disillusioned and illeducated on our history and what these people stood for in our history. I think their mindset was clouded by what the real issue is going on by the media and they have misplaced reality with their rights!
