Are they serious? The pro-abortion crowd is trying to talk about Jesus' view on healthcare?

Look, liberals, if healthcare is a "right", then why not extend it to unborn children?

I would think the first thing Jesus would do, would be to throw all the lawyers out of the temple, er, hospital.

Tort reform and cost reduction first!

If we're going to be playing the “what would Jesus do” game, I'm thinking he'd go for cost controls first 'cause in his day the primary building block of most societies in the Mediterranean basin was the paterfamilias. Its daddy’s cash we’re talking about here and he would have respected that.

Off topic, but would Jesus have supported a materwhatevah? Gay marriage? Disco?

I've been a Christian for a long time, and I have studied the Bible for quite a while now...

...No where do I see Jesus wanting people to be forced to do ANYTHING for the public's good, and that's really what the idea of universal health care entails, isn't it?

Give of your own free will, or don't give at all. That is the will of Jesus. Be a joyous giver... or do not give at all.

Because with Christ it was always a HEART thing rather than a MONEY thing.

You know, it's very, very difficult to carry on a conversation with you when every reply you give has absolutely NOTHING to do with the post you are replying to.

Your reply did not disprove ANYTHING in my post.

Which would seem to indicate you really have no real idea what you're talking about.

Robert Reich explains all ...

All we have are some initial markups from several congressional committees, which differ from one another in significant ways. The White House's is waiting to see what emerges from the House and Senate before insisting on what it wants, maybe in conference committee.

I noticed that you stray away from the fact that forced charity is not charity at all and in fact a form of theft.
You sound like a brain dead sheep. Why would I care what prayer you say?

You seem to forget the Golden Rule . And what about that separation of Church and state thing?

Again would Jesus bring a gun to my door to make me pay my taxes? Would he spend the money on abortions?

Religious_Zealot on August 15, 2009 at 1:31 PM

That's not true.

The Bible mentions that the leaders of governments are put into power by God.

Every day in the Orthodox Church we pray for them.

Let us pray for the peace of the world.

refrain after every sentence: (Lord have mercy)

And for pious and Orthodox Christians and every Christian.
And for our Metropolitan (_) and all our brotherhood in Christ

And for the President of these United States and all the civil authorities of this land.

And for the welfare of our armed forces.

And for all of our fathers mothers and brethren absent from among us.

And for those who hate us and those who love us.

And for those who are kind to us and minister unto us.
And for those who request our prayers unworthy though we be.
And for the deliverance of captives and travelers by land and sea and air.
And for those who lie in sickness.
Let us pray also for abundance of the fruits of the earth. And the soul of every Orthodox Christian and every Christian.
Let us bless God fearing leaders, Orthodox bishops, the founders of this Holy Church and all of our parents and teachers.
All of our fathers mothers and brethren gone before us,the Orthodox who here and everywhere lie asleep in the Lord. Let us also say for ourselves.
Lord have mercy Lord have mercy Lord have mercy.
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages amen.

This person shows his ignorance of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Bible.

Bodily healing is provided for in the atonement completed in Christ at the cross at Calvary. See Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:16-17, and 1 Peter 2:24. An excellent book on the topic is Bodily Healing and the Atonement by Dr. T. J. McCrossan.

Being a Spirit-filled Christian I rely upon the atonement all the time. It works great. It has saved me from having surgical work on my gums and knees.

Jesus has already provided health care for believers, so ObamaCare is irrelevant. What God provides the world through Jesus Christ comes through His sacrifice at Calvary, not through governmental programs. That is why you never see Jesus advocating any type of governmental systems in the Bible.

It is time that liberals come to grips with the fact that they do not understand the gospel of Jesus Christ, and therefore should stop making such ludicrous statements such as those given in this video.

Yeah,,, if we could just get Jesus to come out of heaven and just say "I like Obama's health care plan!" and then just go back and leave us alone,, boy that would be so cool!
Yeah... if only Jesus were stupid and just a little puppet on a string. Like,,, Jesus won't care about the death panels, about the government funded abortions,, about the confiscatory taxation, about the rationing of care, about people dying while waiting for their operations,, about people just getting "a pain pill instead of the surgery," about the whole takeover of a private industry,, about all the lying that is going on from congress and this President.
Yeah,,, if Jesus would just come back and if these Christian leaders would just speak out,, if they'd just ignore all of our sin,, all of the babies we have slaughtered through abortion and all the babies we want to continue to slaughter through government paid abortions,, if Jesus and these leaders would just ignore all our lies, our theft, our blasphemy, if they would just ignore all of the misery and suffering we have wrought on this nation,, all the divorce and porn we have pushed,, if we could just get Jesus and these Christian leaders to agree we need a government paid health care plan and then just go away and leave us be,,, that would be so great!

As a Christian, yes I do believe that society as a whole ought to provide a safety net so that the poorest and least fortunate among us do not get utterly screwed over the care of their health.

SteakRules on August 15, 2009 at 4:43 AM

But that goes COUNTER to Christ's teachings.

Christ did not speak about societies and governments - He spoke about individual salvation and responsibility.

And He also spoke about freedom of choice. Thus anything that FORCED people to help would be fundamentally UN-Christian.

If a group of like-minded people got together to pool their resources to help the poor - then that would be fine and in keeping with basic Christian doctrine.

But as soon as you assign a higher power (government) to take care of it and then add in that people have no CHOICE in whether to help out or not...

...well now you've just gone outside of Christ's teachings.

Does this guy believe the crap he just spewed out? Doctors and healthcare workers shouldnt be paid for their work? Did he get paid for his rant? Unbelievable!

And to say Jesus wants government controlled healthcare in the USA is absurd! Maybe Jesus would like the leftists in this country to stop attacking religion?
