Obamateurism of the Day

Allahpundit noted this video from Townhall’s Greg Hengler last week, but it’s still a worthy addition to the Obamateurism rolls. Most politicians contradict themselves at least occasionally over a period of a few years, if they’re in the mix enough to matter on national policy debates. It takes a true amateur to contradict one’s self within the same speech:
Obama Face Number One:
“It starts off with the basic idea that we’re all in this together. Mark Warner came in at a time when the fashionable politics was the nasty kind of politics, the slash-and-burn politics, the arguing and arguing without everything — ever getting anything done kind of politics. And Mark Warner said, you know what, we can try something different. What we’re going to do is we’re going to be pragmatic instead of ideological. We are going to try to bring people together rather than push them apart. We are going to make sure that we listen to other people’s ideas.”
And then there’s Obama Face Number Two:
“But I don’t want the folks who created the mess — I don’t want the folks who created the mess do a lot of talking. I want them just to get out of the way so we can clean up the mess. I don’t mind cleaning up after them, but don’t do a lot of talking.”
We’re going to listen to people’s ideas — as long as they agree with ours. Well, that’s certainly a recipe for participatory democracy! Shorter, unified Obama: I won. Maybe he should just stick with that. It wastes less time, and causes less carbon emissions.
Got an Obamateurism of the Day? If you see a foul-up by Barack Obama, e-mail it to me at obamaisms@edmorrissey.com with the quote and the link to the Obamateurism. I’ll post the best Obamateurisms on a daily basis, depending on how many I receive. Include a link to your blog, and I’ll give some link love as well. And unlike Slate, I promise to end the feature when Barack Obama leaves office.
Addendum: Normally I’d put a link to Chris Muir’s Day by Day site here, but today I want to do more than that. Chris has a fundraising drive to keep his excellent cartoon alive. Be sure to drop a few dollars in his collection to keep one of the Rightosphere’s most talented warriors in the fight!

“We, the Democratic Party, control the house and senate, and the White House. We, the Democratic Party, cannot pass this bill -with a veto-proof majority- because our members are having second thoughts about getting re-elected if we do. We, the Democrats, want the powerless Republicans out of the way,” -Barry Sotoero.

Did ya’ll watch the Levi video, up in the links? That is one little wannabe man that I would love to smack. He needs to take his butt home and get a real job.
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 9:21 AM
That was so clever! Thanks. But that picture of Michelle, I was a little scared.
sherry on August 11, 2009 at 9:21 AM
Thought experiment:How would you convince a Democrap thar those two statements are contradictory?
You wouldn’t.Democraps are crazy.Even the ones who are now crying about the mistake they made voting for Obama will vote for him again in 2012,and 2016.
DDT on August 11, 2009 at 9:23 AM
Don’t worry his fifteen minutes are about up. I would hate to think the highlight of my life happened at about age 19 or 20.

I can’t take looking at the little f**k

I was about to say that I cannot believe he would do things like that to his son’s family. Then I realized that his mom probably wasn’t the best example of correct behavior. I know that if I was Bristol, my dad or brother would have got a hold of him and his mouth, by now.
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 9:26 AM
that’s why I didn’t even bother to watch. Hey BTW thanks for the breakout assist

Are you coming to DC for the 9/12 event?
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 9:29 AM

Received it form a close friend and just had to pass it on.

Did you find a room? If you promise you are not a serial-killer, I might let you sleep on the floor of our room.
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 9:31 AM
We’ll miss Lox I remember you saying you had business matters to attend to. I have a good partner that has agreed to hold the fort down.

I’m trying to find a cheap hotel somewhere
blatantblue on August 11, 2009 at 9:32 AM
‘Round here we calls that an “honor killin’.” :-)
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 9:32 AM
See we’re not all bad
HoustonRight on August 11, 2009 at 9:32 AM
Cheapo hotel in DC? You are kidding, right? :-)
Make your reservations now. There are Motel-6’s and Day’s Inn’s out in the ‘burbs. A bit less costly than anything in the city.
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 9:35 AM
See
That made me laugh.
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 9:35 AM
Us Texans, we love the word “putz”. And we’re so damn glad that the blue staters were kind enough to elect one as POTUS.
And, guess what. We even like youse guys who’ve moved down here from Noo Yawk. And them yamahas you wear to Synagogue on Saturdays ain’t no problem. Long as you wear a Resistol every now and then.
TXUS on August 11, 2009 at 9:35 AM
I noticed there were some cheaper places in Arlington, we picked the Hilton Garden Inn. I thought $99/night was pretty good. Compared to what we spent for our room for the Tax Day rally in DC.
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 9:37 AM
I found one for 66 a night
blatantblue on August 11, 2009 at 9:38 AM
“Hey, honey, is ya’ll goin’ to temple or what?” is a common bit of conversation among them Jew boys down in Texas on Saturday morninmg, after hitting the bars on Friday nite.
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 9:38 AM
That’s not bad. I’ll buy you a meal, if you will buy me a drink.
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 9:39 AM
I’ll buy both
blatantblue on August 11, 2009 at 9:42 AM
I’ll just be glad to meet you.
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 9:46 AM
I say that to myself every morning in the mirror
blatantblue on August 11, 2009 at 9:47 AM
Be forewarned…TXMomof3 only drinks Hurricanes…the really big ones. And lots of them when she gets going. :-)
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 9:48 AM
Whatever works, I guess!
blatantblue on August 11, 2009 at 9:49 AM
See you there. Now, I have to do a better imitation of working :)
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 9:50 AM
Just when I had good intentions of working.. You weren’t supposed to tell him that. (That was our secret)
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 9:51 AM
I guess I’ll be heading back home on 9/13 with no money
blatantblue on August 11, 2009 at 9:53 AM
But, you will have some awesome memories and a place in history. Good trade, I’m thinking.
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 9:57 AM
Well, this is true.
Maybe you’re a lightweight drinker, and I’ll be in good company
blatantblue on August 11, 2009 at 10:00 AM
Perhaps we can meet up at the International Spy Museum, over on F Street.
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 10:00 AM
I’m very jealous….have an awesome time, make us proud!!
and drink one for me, ok?
cmsinaz on August 11, 2009 at 10:00 AM
That very first quote by Obama is a damnable lie! I lived in Virginia when Mark Warner was elected Governor – I even voted for him and hosted a neighborhood coffee for him – and there was NEVER any cutthroat, slash-and burn hyper-partisan politics there. Warner was no better or no worse in terms of his “tone” than any previous Republican or Democratic governors, or any more or less of a uniter. His predecessor, Jim Gilmore, won over 30 percent of the black vote in 1997 and was not a flaming right-winger.
Virginia also has a long history of electing Governors of the opposite party of the President. We had two Democrats while Reagan was president, two Republicans while Clinton was President, and two Democrats while Bush was President. Now Virginia is going to do it again and elect a Republican. It doesn’t mean anything in terms of the President, but it will be fun to poke at the Obama machine over it.
rockmom on August 11, 2009 at 10:01 AM
TXMomof3 is no lightweight…save for that svelt figure of her’s…like all good Texas wimmen. :-)
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 10:01 AM
Be on the corner at 9:00 AM sharp.
Wear a black jacket.
Come alone.
blatantblue on August 11, 2009 at 10:03 AM
I am not a heavy drinker, and I will meet ya’ll anywhere you would like. There is a micro-brewery/restaurant right near the Spy Museum that we ate at in April.
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 10:06 AM
A black jacket in DC, in September? Stick out like a sore thumb.
Doesn’t open till 10.
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 10:06 AM
So I can see you from afar and get a look at you before I decide to introduce myself :p
blatantblue on August 11, 2009 at 10:07 AM
I told my dad last night that we would have to chain ourselves to the White House fence and chant, Hell no, We won’t go. He wasn’t having it.
Ha, Ha.
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 10:09 AM
The Austin Grill is right around the corner.
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 10:10 AM
When are you wanting to meet? We don’t get in town until almost midnight on Friday night. Saturday night after the march?
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 10:11 AM
I’ll be wearing my old work uniform. Khakis, blue sport coat, Hawaii shirt.
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 10:12 AM
blatantblue on August 11, 2009 at 10:12 AM
We have to make sure we are not meeting up with any Ted Bundy types, you know.
TXMomof3 on August 11, 2009 at 10:13 AM
Will work out details as we get closer. In the afternoon, after the march seems better. I’ll be Metroing in from NoVa. most likely.
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 10:14 AM
Me? More like Al Bundy, to be honest.
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 10:14 AM
What time does the march start on saturday
blatantblue on August 11, 2009 at 10:15 AM
Just let me know. I am sure I will be around here somewhere, messing up threads.

The incongruity is lost on the cheering idiots who come to show their adoration to “The One.”
Star20 on August 11, 2009 at 11:16 AM
How about listening to those ideas expressed at the Town Hall meetings?
Steve Z on August 11, 2009 at 11:47 AM
So is that nonsense on the prompter or not?
He’s doing the psychotic bobble-head at a tennis match routine… but what he says is so stupid, I can’t believe it’s anything other than one of his empty-headed ad libs.
jana on August 11, 2009 at 12:41 PM
Somewhere in the mists of time I recall Pundits carping about Sarah dropping the “g’s” on the end of words. Listren to the O Man speak. “We’re gonna clean up after them’, I don’t mind doin’ the cleanin’”. Grammer police haul this man off to whatever bad place you can drag him for butchering the King’s English.
Herb on August 11, 2009 at 2:44 PM
That’s his phony preacher persona. He pulls it out anytime he’s testifyin’ to his disciples.
When he wants to impress the rest of the folks, he uses his Harvard persona.
jana on August 11, 2009 at 2:57 PM
Old hat from last week. He made several today in his false town hall, use one of them.
allrsn on August 11, 2009 at 10:24 PM
And the people are all cheering and clapping. Wow.
