Obama: Government health care will be like, um, the post office
posted at 3:29 pm on August 11, 2009 by Allahpundit
Well, now I’m sold. If only he’d sweetened the pot and promised us it’d be like the DMV, I’d be ready to don an SEIU shirt and beat some protesters myself. As for the substance of his claim, that having government competition won’t affect private insurers, make sure to read Karl’s post debunking the many, many lies The One has told us about ObamaCare thus far. In fact, he told another one at this very same town hall, but I’ll make you go to Breitbart to watch the clip of that.
Evidently he faced a tough crowd, replete with 13-year-old girls empathizing about all the “mean signs” the Democrats have had to look at lately. Yes, really.

I was sent to Victoria to get a special title on a vehicle. They said that I had to go to Houston. In Houston they sent me to Austin. Finally I went to Hallettsville where they got the title and said that it could have done at any one of the other locations.

Hahahha. That got me thinking, do we really need a post office? I pay all my bills online and conduct all correspondence via email. The only thing I get in the snail mail is junk mail. I get packages occaisionally, but I bet that FedEx and UPS could fill any gaps left by the absence of the post office. Let’s eliminate the post office and use it toward the that $1.3 trillion we owe.

You miss the real point…Imagine if Fedex and UPS were under the same rules they intend to force on the Insurance industry…Imagine if the Post Office was able to write the rules for FEDEX and UPS…Say, they have to carry junk mail at a loss…They have to deliver everywhere…No private company could survive competition from anyone else if that other entity got to write the rules…

If an employer decides to use the postal service for all their delivery needs, it’s of little consequence to their employees, but if an employer decides to use the equivalent of the postal service for their employees medical needs, it’s extremely consequential.

Had there been an analogous law forbidding UPS and FEDEx from doing what they do, like private health insurers will be banished if OboobaCare becomes law, then gues what? There’d be no USPS or FEDEx or countless other similar companies.

Health care

Race relations
Improving international view of America
Ending Bush policies on War on Terror
And this is in less than a year. The Left went on and on about how stupid President Bush was, but he succeeded politically in pretty much everything he tried. His only failures were immigration and Social Security. Not bad for eight years.

We should all invite Democrats and Libs to our poker nights. They reveal their hands so clearly and so often that it makes you wonder who taught them how to play.
Any time that Obama (or anyone of his ilk) deny something, you can take it to the bank that his denial is an indicator of what precisely he plans to do. He thinks he’s hiding the truth in plain sight, when all he’s doing is revealing his hand in an awkwardly obvious way.
Keep it up, Barry! Can’t wait to vote you dummies out of office.

The private sector insurance carriers don’t have to worry about competition from HitlerCare because, after all, UPS and USPS are still around despite competition from USPS. Why? Because the USPS is obviously too inept to compete, according to Hussein’s “reasoning.” (He just lost the postal worker vote!)
But USPS would have gone the way of the buggy whip had there been no law forbidding private companies from delivering the mail. That should be clear to Odouche, but he’s too stupid to realize the upshot of his own analogy.
More forgotten favorites, while we’re on the topic of Obooba’s cerebral wattage:
Obooba: What they’ll say is, “Well it costs too much money,” but you know what? It would cost, about… It — it — it would cost about the same as what we would spend… It… Over the course of 10 years it would cost what it would costs us… (nervous laugh) All right. Okay. We’re going to… It… It would cost us about the same as it would cost for about — hold on one second. I can’t hear myself. But I’m glad you’re fired up, though. I’m glad. Everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma, they end up taking up a hospital bed, it costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early and they got some treatment, and a, a breathalyzer, or inhalator, not a breathalyzer. (crowd laughing) I haven’t had much sleep in the last 48 hours. [end]
“It is wonderful to be back in Oregon,” Obama said. “Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it.”
At a later stop Obama was talking with reporters and expressed concern he’d also mis-stated the number of potential cyclone victims in Burma. He said, “”I hope I said 100,000 people the first time instead of 100 million. I understand I said there were 57 states today. It’s a sign that my numeracy is getting a little, uh.” At that point, an aide cut him off and ushered journalists out. Before he could mis-speak again?) [end]
“There was a tragedy in Kansas,” said Obama Monday. “Ten thousand people died – an entire town destroyed. Turns out that the National Guard in Kansas only had 40 percent of its equipment,” he said [meaning that it's equipment was fighting Bush's war], “and they are having to slow down the recovery process.” [end]
Leader of the Free World.

One of the most fascinating and least discussed aspects of the House legislation is the ability that trail attorneys are given to sue, on behalf of the government, ‘entities’ who negatively impact public health.
So not only does the current plan not include tort reform or any mechanism to reduce runaway liability costs to the medical profession, it acutally increases and expands liability on the private sector as a whole.
Imagine for a moment a class action lawsuit, filed on behalf of the government, against Wendy’s hamburger. The case: selling red meat causes obesity and heart disease in a significant portion of the public.
Get ready for tofu burgers folks. This is a slippery slope.
