Pelosi and Reid have been around a long time, and while they play hardball on the leeches, wimps, profligates, and clones in Congress and in the lobby registry, in general they have mever played this New Bad Guy in Town-hall role against the public.

In a way it is too obvious

Bring out the Leaders with the low poll numbers (despite which they retain full support of Party) to play Cruella Deville. Have both Cruellas declare on tv and in print, signed with a flourish that protesting is ‘un-American’.

While you are at it, dress carefully selected ‘union goons’ in easily identifiable costumes clearly labeled ‘Union Goons’ and let them rough up elderly protesters on camera, just a bit – no broken bones, no head injuries.

Let the stew boil.

Then Good Cop steps in to defend the protestors while making a slight slam at their excesses, yet making no mention of the clearly labeled ‘Union Goon’ squad.

And making not a sound about bring in the Feds to investigate civil rights violations by the ‘Goons’

Obama’s town halls will be as usually pure Astroturf. Obama will know ahead of time every question and every answer. There wont be a single person in the room that hasn’t been heavily vetted. Every person that ask a question will be an Obama worker, or donor.
