Why would Hoyer give cover to Nancy? I thought he was whispered about as the one to take her place when Obama throws her under the bus. I don’t get it either.

The only reason I can figure is that he is playing the loyal lieutenant now so he can move up to the Speakership when Nancy finally strokes out.

I’m kind of glad he hasn’t been doing anything to get in our way, but has anyone seen Michael Steele lately?

I thought he might have been hiding under Nazi Pelosi’s petticoats (or Obama’s skirt for that matter).

As the saying goes, when your opponent is committing suicide it is best to be quiet and let him.

When King George taxed the people to the point they were not going to take it any more, not only did the Boston Tea party occur, but the revoluationaly war began. War as in muskets firing very heavy lead balls. Our forefathers knew how to take care of business. Not much later, people like those two were tarred and feathered and literally run out of town on a rail.

I think tar and feathers would work well in this case.

Maybe some day the GOP will be the small government reform party but it still seems quite far off.

We don’t need to. The Democrats have quite an efficient circular firing squad going as it is. Better to shut up and allow them to carry on than to start blabbing and allow them to distract people’s attention to a partisan squabble. The RNC could do the best work right now just by shutting up and allowing the Democrats to keep digging.

Every time a Democrat opens their mouth lately they do more damage than Steele could ever hope to do.

It just amazes me that Pelosi would do this. And that Hoyer would be a part of it. They practically wrote the Republican response for them.

Dumb question: What is that job description? Is the head of the RNC traditionally an out-front hyper-partisan type of person (like Howard Dean), or a behind-the-scenes fundraiser/ organizer?

Nope, the Dems need the Blue Dogs to vote for this or it doesn’t pass. If the Blue Dogs have any hope of getting reelected they must vote against it. I don’t see them as willing to fall on their swords for this President. Remember they will be up for reelection next year. This will be way to fresh in people’s minds for them to have a prayer of being elected if they vote in favor of this bill.

Sadly, that would mean not “doing business” with your county, city, or state government whose employees are probably SEIU members. Government is the MOST unionized segment of the US workforce and the SEIU has most of the government workers.
