Video: Democrat who yelled at constituent can’t stop whining about health-care question

posted at 9:38 pm on August 10, 2009 by Allahpundit

Yeah, this guy again. He simply can’t get over how rude it was for some doctor to sit through a four-hour meeting about a highway, waiting patiently until all the other questioners had had their turn, and then politely ask a question about the hottest political issue in America. Oh, and he also kinda sorta hints it was racist too, since the meeting had to do with a highway serving a black community. Dialogue.

The clip’s long but worth your while, as CNN decided to have the doctor call in so that Scott could finally answer his question. Minor problem: Like practically everyone else in Congress, Scott’s prone to talking about this subject in platitudes — and the doctor, mobster that he is, is very adamant that he doesn’t want to hear platitudes. Awkwardness ensues starting at about 5:00.

I’m pretty sure an astroturf organization doesn’t have enough money to pay *me* to sit through a FOUR HOUR meeting about a highway, so it stands to reason that a Dr. probably has a lot of better things to do with his time…

The Dems are pushing this astroturf thing with all of their might to convince us that all of the “real people” want health reform.

The problem is, they are trying to convince a majority that they are a minority, which is much harder than the reverse.

Insurance companies have a monopoly? You mean thousands of private insurance companies have a monopoly on the health insurance industry? What, are they trying to keep the government out of the market? You can’t have fair competition without a government backed insurance company? Blake on August 10, 2009 at 10:13 PM

I actually I did see clear racism in that. If you watch the congressman’s responses, especially at the townhall meeting, you can see that he did not consider the doctor a constituent but rather an interloper. I expect this was due to the fact that the doctor was white. The congressman’s district is heavily black and he assumes they are his people and he only works for them. It’s clear from all his talk of “disenfranchised people” and “my community” and the “voters in my district”, etc. He’s a racist. Crackers just need to shut up round here.

I have only one question for any politician supporting Obamacare and that is this, where in the Constitution is the federal government authorized to run a health care plan?
DerKrieger on August 10, 2009 at 9:55 PM

It doesn’t DerKrieger, but then nobody really cares any more anyway! Since the 10th amendment was ditched the question has become “Where in the Constitution is the Federal Government PROHIBITED from running a health care plan?”. And besides that, which Constitution are you referring to anyway; the Constitution as written or the Constitution as interpreted? They are distinctly different, you know.
One is simple and straight forward for the comprehension of the average citizen with an average intellect and a decent education, written for the express purpose of anchoring the American experiment in a set of timeless principles. The other is a “living” document of vast extent and infinite flexibility that is meant to be a kind of sea anchor in a constantly shifting situation. It can’t be readily understood or even comprehended by the average citizen without the guidance of a staff of legal scholars and specialists and the best even they can do is to deliver a hopelessly complex snapshot of a constantly shape-shifting organism.
And therein lies the most utterly terrifying aspect of this whole debate; the argument that’s NOT being made. The Constitutional argument! And it’s not being made because in the Constitution as interpreted, there is nothing at all that prevents the Federal Government from setting up a truly gargantuan bureaucracy with the power and the incentive to decide who is born and who and when we die. In fact, there is the power and the incentive to administer every detail of our waking lives from what we eat to how we love, from what we drive to how we earn a living, and every aspect of life that touches our health. In other words – everything!
When it is all done, they will have reduced our lives to an agenda item on a committee report. An entry in the minutes. Nothing more than a brief pause on the way to adjournment.

I wouldn’t've been nearly as nice about it. For one, I’d've told him off, when he made the insinuation that I was disrespectful, and “hijacked” his little town hall. Second-of-all, I wouldn’t have agreed to a behind-closed-doors, in-the-office meeting. I’d've said: “sunlight is the best disinfectant, and what I want to know what it is that you can’t, or won’t, say in front of a town hall of your ‘valued constituents’”. This socialist, government-run health care bill has the potential to negatively impact each and every single American in the nation, and behind-closed-doors is not the place to conduct that kind of business. That’s called ‘legislation without representation’. Just becaue you like it, doesn’t mean your ‘valued constituents’ do. If he’s so interested in being transparent (something I’m definitely not accusing him of, that’s for sure), he needs to stop hiding in his office and screeching at anyone that brings up the subject when he’s not ready for it. Regardless of the original intent of the town hall meeting, he should be competent enough to be able to answer a respectfully presented ‘off‘ question.

Also, the laws of economic (sic) have been revised by The One. Now y’all look into that one to understand unemployment.

Check MSNBC and they will use the above conclusions with great comfort. They can’t explain or logically defend them but they sure have an emotive consonance on that network.

If I offer a private jet to take us to dinner in Montreal, would Ann Coulter ignore my tinfoil hat?

Has Obama said the Doctor acted stupidly, yet?

This is CNN? wow.

Oh, and the congressman should apologize for yelling at his boss (the doctor)in public. Or resign.

I hope HA will post the follow-up meeting. I’m interested to know if the employee (congressman scott) does his work and gets the data his boss (dr. hill) demands!

I believe there have been plans for free wireless internet for all. What will not be considered a right?

Why do so few understand free market capitalism?
A business cannOT compete against a goverment-operated business that does not run under the the principles of profit and loss. When operating in the red, the government just steals other people’s money to fill up the gap.

Private business cannot rob the bank and soon goes under. What is left? A monopoly run by the government. Single payer.
