Video: Democrat who yelled at constituent can’t stop whining about health-care question

Yeah, this guy again. He simply can’t get over how rude it was for some doctor to sit through a four-hour meeting about a highway, waiting patiently until all the other questioners had had their turn, and then politely ask a question about the hottest political issue in America. Oh, and he also kinda sorta hints it was racist too, since the meeting had to do with a highway serving a black community. Dialogue.

The clip’s long but worth your while, as CNN decided to have the doctor call in so that Scott could finally answer his question. Minor problem: Like practically everyone else in Congress, Scott’s prone to talking about this subject in platitudes — and the doctor, mobster that he is, is very adamant that he doesn’t want to hear platitudes. Awkwardness ensues starting at about 5:00.

Wow.

This dude thinks insurance companies have a monopoly on competition? Unbelievable. He believes the lefty propaganda that we have a free-market system. Individuals do not have total freedom; the tax code discriminates against them so most are forced to take the insurance their employer provides and individuals are not allowed to purchase insurance across state lines…

That sounds more socialist than it does free-market. Not to mention the fact that over 1/3 of people are already under a socialized health care plan (medicare/medicaid).

“Dr. why don’t you come to my office and sit down over some beer and talk about health care reform…”

Caper29 on August 10, 2009 at 11:32 PM

I’ve been wondering for a while, where are the doctors and medical associations in this? I’ve not seen anything on the news (til now) about them and how they feel.

What if everyone contacted their state Medical Association and let them know how they feel about the healthcare issue? Show a little support for the docs – after all, they have an equal share, as we do, in this mess. I think if I was a doc and had invested so much in a career, I would not be happy about things that are developing. I think this doc really took a stand for what he believes. Maybe a lot of other docs are a little afraid to let their feelings be known – they don’t want to lose patients who may disagree?

We need more physicians to stand up to these politicians and be a part of the debate.

The AMA has been in the bag for the trial lawyers and the Insurance/Drug cartel since around day 1. Do some research on the percentage of physicians who actually pay dues to the AMA. It’s a lot lower than you think.

The salient point is that AMA doesn’t equal the medical communtity – they just want you to think that.

warbaby on August 11, 2009 at 12:25 AM

Remember, most docs don’t affiliate themselves with the AMA. Actually, only 20% ae members of the AMA.

Lawrenceville neurologist Dr. Todd Williamson spends his days listening to patients and lately he says they’re worried.

“Not a day goes by that my patients don’t ask me, “Dr. Williamson, I’m scared, what is all this is going to mean for us?” said Dr. Todd Williamson

Dr. Williamson is talking about President Obama’s health care reform plan, HR 3200.

As the president of the Medical Association of Georgia, which represents about 6,600 doctors, he’s become one of the loudest opponents of the Administration’s overhaul — because his group believes it will be a bitter pill for both patients and physicians.

“The most uncomfortable aspect of this by far is that patients are going to lose access to their doctors and they’re going to lose choice. There is no other way around it,” said Dr. Todd Williamson.

Doctors are people, just like us (well, maybe a little different) but they’re not happy either.

I agree with you tho, about the AMA - probably just a bunch of docs that are put out to pasture and making big bucks in other ventures – not actively treating patients.

The Congressman isn’t listening to the doctor and he won’t listen at his Health Care meeting the next week. I hope someone reminds him that November 2, 2009 is around the corner.

Because of some quirk in the law, insurance companies (and professional baseball teams) are exempt from anti-trust laws, hence the collusion among insurance companies. If we want real competition, just re-write the law to make the insurance companies subject to anti-trust.

frannybanks on August 11, 2009 at 3:12 AM

Dr. Scott wants Dr. Hill to come to his office and see more how he can set up more appointments and recommend more phone calls so the congressman can keep showing his rank mediocrity.

ted c on August 11, 2009 at 6:35 AM

Well, that is pure arrogance in the shape of a man.

Hard to watch, really. The implicit racism is pretty undeniable, too. “You people.” “This is an african American community.” I think that false healthcare “fair” is pretty awful, too.

So, it’s now confirmed that the left likes uniforms and, evidently, props and “human shields.”

It’s harder and harder each day to come up with adjectives to properly describe these clowns.

Mommypundit on August 11, 2009 at 7:01 AM

This Saturday! That will be the one to watch! Plenty of time to get the union thugs bused in!

JellyToast on August 11, 2009 at 7:05 AM

The Congressman was wrong and is pretty much an asshole, but I was surprised that he held out the olive branch and that he agreed to let CNN film the event on Saturday. That will be interesting to watch.

Kafir on August 11, 2009 at 7:39 AM

We are “represented” by complete idiots and this guy is the poster child.

He couldn’t operate the french fry machine at McDonald’s and he’s making policy that affects our lives.

Pathetic.

frannybanks on August 11, 2009 at 3:12 AM

Not familiar with how insurance companies must operate?

If you have insurance, any insurance, and you and say a great big whole bunch of fellow policy holders with that one insurance company just happen to all be struck by lightning on the same day…there would be a great possibility that your insurance company go broke.

And maybe a bunch of you, maybe all of you, or maybe just a few of you get your benefit. But the other policy holders? If they got hit by lightning the next day? Might not see a penny.

Thus the need to exempt insurance companies from the basic anti-trust rules. Many many diverse insurance companies share liability…they pool funds, pool assets, just in case there is a Katrina in NOLA and a Katrina in Miami, a Katrina in NYC on the same weekend.

Reinsurance…something else that is given lax regulation under anti-trust rules…is a means by which an insurance company can protect itself with other insurance companies against the risk of losses. Individuals and corporations obtain insurance policies to provide protection for various risks such as hurricanes, earthquakes, lawsuits, mass deaths. Reinsurance allows an insurance company to offer higher limits of protection to a policyholder than its own assets would allow. It also allows a an insurance company to allow lower premiumslower costs to the policy holder…a good thing.

Lloyd’s of London, perhaps the most famous and oldest of the insurance companies actually does not issue insurance policies directly to a person.

They serve to provide insurance to insurance companies, primarily maritime insurance. If you are a company having a clientage with Lloyd’s you can insure a dancer’s legs, an actresses face or bosom, a concert pianist’s fingers…and over the years many have, for astronomical sums in benefits should a leg be broken, a face scarred, bosoms sag, fingers get stuck in the keyboard cover.

If the insurance companies were held tightly to anti-trust rules, they’d be limited in the amount they could pay for a claim to the amount of cash on hand on that particular day. Might be a bad day. You’d get nothing, and the company would instantly be insolvent.

Without being exempt from the rules, your premiums for something as simple a minimal liability insurance from a company like SafeAuto would be several times higher…perhaps out of reach for the average driver needing coverage.

Those nasty words…profit…and exemption…collusion…have been so misused and misunderstood over the years. I’d have to believe that it is purposeful.

elclynn on August 11, 2009 at 9:17 AM

Well now that y’all have met my congressman, whatta y’all think of him?

He is the same guy who during the debate on the Cap N Trade bill voiced some sort of objection concerning the regulation of Wall St traders related to the new carbon offset funds like Al Gore runs, and Waxman told him no problem and put the placeholder in the bill telling him we come back to it later.

Does this guy seem like someone who is smart enough to figure out the derivatives market or ask any sort of smart question about it? Yeah it was a set up for the cameras at CSPAN so that they could show a Democrat voicing concern and another Democrat compromising.

This guy votes whichever way Nancy tells him to.

As with abortion, any legislation regarding health care written by people who do not carry any medical degrees is nothing more than a waste of words, time, and money.

I propose that we gather a team of doctors who should form legislation regarding term limits. Seems awfully fair. Or, better yet, let’s get a team of farmers together to work out a solution for torte reform. Firemen, determining the best areas to cut the budget.

Along those lines, I guess the whole “hands off my womb” crowd hasn’t exactly figured out that these thugs in office have a lot more than their wombs in mind with this bill. Hypocrites, the whole lot of them.

CatsGodot on August 11, 2009 at 11:15 AM

Errr…tort reform, rather. Well, both, really…I mean, have you seen how pastries from grocery stores are nowadays? WE NEED ACTION NOW, PEOPLE!

Check out David Scott’s new victim status with a swastika spray painted on his street side office sign. I wonder whose political camp had the most to gain from this kind of nameless vandalism? David Scott’s been at this office for a number of years without incident; it is certainly interesting that this anonymous slur occurs exactly when David Scott is in trouble for having very poor temperament.

Mark30339 on August 11, 2009 at 3:29 PM

I still want truth . . .

I like this guy.

Trochilus on August 11, 2009 at 7:13 PM

The best thing to come from this CNN interview is the fact that it shows not all Town Hall protesters are who Dems think they are. Pelosi thinks they are all drooling Southern Rednecks with no education who boarded a Bus outside Rush Limbaugh headquarters. But let them think this because they are insulting indepenedents and moderates too.

Dennis D on August 12, 2009 at 8:35 AM

I found Scotts comments to be racist. During the Town Hall he said ” you people come here” yada yada and ” don’t even live in my district” . How does he know? Because they are white he assumes?
