SEIU memo: Let’s “drown out” health-care protesters’ voices

posted at 3:36 pm on August 10, 2009 by Allahpundit

Via MKH, ever on the lookout for “un-American” activities as defined by our Speaker of the House.

I look forward to the denunciation of this unpatriotic mob tactic from Pelosi’s office.

Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer decided to double down on some pretty distasteful messaging today, calling some of the opposition to health care reform, “un-American” in a USA Today ope-ed. Specifically, this is what the Speaker finds so unpatriotic:

“These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.”…

I have a memo from SEIU Local 2001 (the same Conn. district where the original MacGuffie memo originated), which cannot be misunderstood. It was issued this week in preparation for Rep. Jim Himes’ town hall in Stamford, Conn.

It’s still up, but I did a screen shot, in case it disappears. Here’s the announcement:

“Action: Opponents of reform are organizing counter-demonstrators to speak at this and several congressional town halls on the issue to defend the status quo. It is critical that our members with real, personal stories about the need for access to quality, affordable care come out in strong numbers to drown out their voices.”

It’s not just SEIU, of course. ObamaCare astroturfing is apparently rampant on the left at the moment, replete with Craigslist ads offering idealistic young Americans a chance to “fight” for health-care reform — for a small hourly fee. Where’s the money coming from? Verum Serum has a theory, and of course so does our own Ed Morrissey. And they’re not mutually exclusive.

At the very least, no one from the Craigslist crowd has sent any protesters to the hospital yet, which is more than can be said of SEIU. Take it away, boss.

SEIU consists of nothing but jack boot goons that serve Obama and his congressional enablers. It’s time to meet them head on and let the chips fall where they may.

These are the same people that did everything in their power to weaken our country during the war in Iraq, and have our military sacrificed. Now that they are in power, they will not extend the same right to average citizens to protest. This is very much like Clinton’s work to make protesting against abortion illegal during his reign.

Will the SEIU disclose how it will benefit from ObamaCare? Will the bureaucracy that grows around ObamaCare be ripe grounds for organizing new members?

SEIU already has excellent healthcare thanks to its collective bargaining agreements.

So, how do they benefit? Is it because they so love their fellow citizens, that they wish to ensure they have access to treatment if they happen to be beaten up at a TownHall?

Why are union goons involved in protests against commie healthcare anyway? Aren’t their insurance packages exempted from the bill?

SEIU and it’s members represent the true “douchebag” segment of our American society. As someone who’s had to put up with union morons in the past, they can be very easily described as this:

Moronic, unintelligent thugs who will do anything and everything their union bosses tell them to do. They are, by and large, extremely lazy and want everything handed to them for free.

My father worked for a trucking company that was non-union…at a time when the union companies were going out of business thanks to all the union “perks”…and these bastards set a trap to have him blow out his tires coming out of work and then cornered him and threatened him.

I spit on every union member who engages in such behavior…and that’s just about all of them.

Unions were created to protect the worker…now they exist to ENSLAVE the worker…

And none of them have an ounce of intelligence to realize it. That’s why they always elect corrupt officials that are taking their union dues and traveling to Vegas on their dime.

But so long as they can call themselves a teamster and wear a silly jacket…they don’t care.

Scum…no other word…

The enemy of all that is good and true in this country has instigated it so that they can use the Armed Forces to quell it but I seriously doubt they’d left a finger against those citizenry from which most of them come from.

We must be careful, however, because cornered rats can bite and we’ve already seen these folks lashing out at those who don’t agree with them. They’re willing to lie, cheat and steal, kill is the next on the list and it’s only a matter of time before someone, at the very least, is gravely wounded by the behavior of some crazy union thug. Be VERY careful, folks, but do NOT stop fighting. We can win this, but we have to be strong.

Edward Kennedy is 2nd with $2,741,591
Pelosi is 3rd with $2,737,550

Nancy Pelosi:

These disruptions are occurring because opponents are afraid not just of differing views — but of the facts themselves. Drowning out opposing views is simply un-American. Drowning out the facts is how we failed at this task for decades.

The SEIU memo:

Action: Opponents of reform are organizing counter-demonstrators to speak at this and several congressional town halls on the issue to defend the status quo. It is critical that our members with real, personal stories about the need for access to quality, affordable care come out in strong numbers to drown out their voices.

Is Pelosi willing to admit the SEIU is un-American?

sleeper cells from the last Open Registration.

Appropriate term, I like it.

Is it just me, or are the trolls conspicuously absent from these threads today?

Rywall was on a headline thread demanding to see Kenneth Gladney’s wounds. In the spirit of 9-11 Truthers and Birthers, Rywall is the charter member of the “Wounders.”

That looney whore called Border Patrol and Ice Agents un-American for doing their jobs and upholding the law. Doubtful.

I remember caltrops at CAT in Peoria. These goons would follow a scab (someone who actually wants to work for a living) home and later at night spread these all over their driveway. These UAW thugs were paid to walk the picket line in Peoria….so the fact that the dems are paying to muster “grassroot” support is nothing new to unions.

“Is Pelosi willing to admit the SEIU is un-American?”

It is the typical tactic of the left. You accuse the other side of doing exactly the dirty trick YOU are doing and you “get ahead” of the story by accusing the other side of doing it before it becomes known that you are doing it.

So imagine I steal flowers from your garden for my kitchen table and then accuse you of stealing mine. Then you discover I am stealing them from you. If you raise a hue and cry, I simply say you started it and recall back to when I accused you of doing it. Or it looks like you are simply being childish and playing a “bounces off me and sticks to you” game. It greatly deflates the opponent’s ability to respond and inoculates the public against accusations by the opponent.

In general if you look at any time the Democrats accuse someone of doing something dirty, it is generally something THEY are doing and they are simply “getting ahead” of the curve by accusing the other side of it.

Another thing Democrats do is give legislation a name that is exactly the opposite of what it does. So a plan that justifies denying health care would be called a “Health Care” bill. A plan that would eliminate Medicare might be called a “Medicare Protection” bill.

Yep. And its baby-slaughtering provision would be the “Infant Protection Clause.”

The people must FIGHT Thuggery with thuggery. The moral high ground only works if the bad guy is willing to quit kicking your ass. It’s time to send some SEIU thugs back in much worse condition than when they showed up.
