Hillary snaps: I’m the secretary of state, not Bill
posted at 7:35 pm on August 10, 2009 by Allahpundit
I saw the wire reports about this earlier and rolled my eyes at the suggestion that she’d gotten truly angry, figuring the media was overplaying it to goose the “Bill’s marginalizing Hillary!” narrative after his North Korea trip. Then I watched the video. Dude.
Odds of any future diplomatic ventures for BJ: Low.

It’s accurate that all this childish crap about Hillary’s appearance is, ah, puerile, and way beside the point.
I’ve been watching Hillary for a long, long time. If anything is germane re her appearance, it’s that it reflects the anger and envy that is apparently her only raison d’etre. She has been a proud resenter her entire adult life (and no doubt long before,) who only found her milieu in the Leftists’ Politics of Envy.
Whatever her political “accomplishments,” she’s a stone criminal who aided and abetted the First Rapist to maintain a massively profitable criminal conspiracy in the state of Arkansas, and didn’t even take a deep breath between Little Rock and Washington. After his childish peccadillos became public knowledge, she played the sympathy card to divert attention from the question of what she had to gain by enabling Billy Jeff’s pathology.
The most superficial investigation into the Whitewater cesspool will reveal everything you need to know about Hillary Rodham, who based her own career on resentment of the father who gave her a cushier childhood than any of us are likely to have experienced. This is a viper, folks, and the fact that she looks like somebody not to be trusted is only poetic justice.
Grow up, and bag the “cankles” meme. It’s only fit for 9-year-olds, and is evidence that the lefties have successfully shucked you into playing by their rules.

Hillary is not cute when she’s angry; with her mullet and irate Rottweiler attitude she’s giving off a distinctly Sapphic vibe.

Going off on a student is one thing.
Going off on a student in a foreign country, as a key representative of the United State, that is simply not “smart diplomacy.”
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 1:47 AM
This may have already been said in the comments (I can’t go through all 400 just to check) but I heard this reported on the radio this afternoon. Supposedly the translator messed up the question, which was supposed to be asking what Obama thought, not Bill.
UltimateBob on August 11, 2009 at 2:23 AM
Possibly true.
Have witnessed some doozies of mistranslation over the years.
But, one answers the question they have been given. In this case, Hillary showed a bit less “smart diplomacy” than one would have otherwise hoped.
coldwarrior on August 11, 2009 at 2:34 AM
So what if it was a messed up translation? The Secretary of State for the most powerful nation was pissed because she though she was being dissed.
She acted in a snarky, nasty, bitter way sitting on her large rear end in her aquamarine pants suit.
What a Bitch. So glad she represents the United States.

BTW, thanks for posting the Hillary link. The question to Hillary as translated did have a Linda Blair-in-the-Exorcist vibe to it. IMHO it’s too bad that, when practically asked about a seance with her husband, she took the question seriously instead of laughing it off.

I saw that too. Pathetic: jet lag, speeches, blah blah blah. I thought a requirement for serving as Secretary of State would be a temperament for diplomacy. As Scarborough finally said, put Condi Rice in that picture. We’d have an international incident on our hands, driven by the hard left.

Let’s compare Hillary to her female peers; As first lady, she was engaged and involved – Laura Bush was a medicated highway killer who waved at the cameras and had a creepy smile. Then there’s Sarah Palin, a 6-year college attendee who couldn’t even get past 2 years as governor of an arctic wilderness. She is currently in the process of divorcing from
TellerTodd and working on a book with flags and eagles on the cover to support her klassy family.simplesimon on August 11, 2009 at 8:04 AM

The question should have been:
What does Bill Clinton think of you gargantuan ankles and do you see that as a major factor in driving him in to the arms of all those other women?
TheSitRep on August 11, 2009 at 8:19 AM
yep. Lets see if when she gets back the media ask her opinion about the health care takeover.
elduende on August 11, 2009 at 8:20 AM
Do women cringe when they see this behavior?
Hilary is a Fifties throw back playing “modern woman” and building her career on the old liberal standby of unlimited abortion. This is someone that is partnered with an impeached president, and along with her bloat look needs to at least put some effort into acting fit to hold the position she does for this country. Many Africans have no idea how the nuances of “equality” for women work in this country, and why should they since most American men haven’t figured out the slanted system.
Comparing Clinton to Palin pretty much says it all. Independent conservative Alaskan that made it on her own merits, vs liberal trailer trash from Arkansas and her cheatin’, impeached hubby. How low does the bar go?

If you think about it, even if the interpreter got the correct president, it was still worded in a pretty insulting manner. “Through the mouth of Mrs. Clinton.” It would have been offensive even if the interpreter said barry. Having said that, hillary should be more thick skinned, that’s what being a “diplomat” is all about. Also, if she had stopped and thought about it for a second she would have known it was the wrong president. Afterall, bill doesn’t do anything through the mouth or in the mouth of hillary.

I’m not Hillary fan but I give her big pass on this one. She should have been pissed. What an insulting stupid question. Just imagine if Hillary was president and Bill was in white house this would coming up all the time. people would assuming her as getting advice and help from Bill all the time. She said something interesting, channeling, Channeling is something you do for dead people, maybe wishful thinking on her part. Bill was a populist, this administration is Communist hard core. If Hillary wants to be president and be appreacitated as such, then she needs to divorce Bill first. People will give her a pass on that. God help US if she dose get elected in 2012.

When you are clearly unfit for the position you occupy (and this woman clearly is), can you really be insulted by a question like this?
NoDonkey on August 11, 2009 at 9:05 AM
I’d be ticked if I were Hill too. But wonder, in this case, if a woman would have been effective given Kim Jong’s wild ideas about things.
jeanie on August 11, 2009 at 9:07 AM
That was an insulting question and Hillary didn’t get pissed off enough. I thought her reaction was one of genuine dismay at first. I think she couldn’t quite believe someone would ask such a blatantly sexist question.
The fact that the question also didn’t make any sense didn’t help.

amkun on August 11, 2009
I think it was a desperate grasp at relevance after failing to snatch the brass ring. She just doesn’t see herself as one of one-hundred, but separate and above all others. This was as close as she could get to that lofty perch and she jumped at it. She played into Obama’s hands and her political career ends here…I hope.
SKYFOX on August 11, 2009 at 9:18 AM
“You think that’s bad? You should see her in private.” — BJ Clinton
petefrt on August 11, 2009 at 9:20 AM
Get a grip.
She was in a foreign country, which presumably doesn’t have the same culture as the United States.
More important, as it turns out, the interpreter actually botched the translation of the student’s question. Apparently, the interpreter used her husband’s name for Obama’s name. And a question about what Obama thinks about something seems like a relevant question.
That leads me to my third point. She’s fricking Secretary of State. If she wants to have a hissy fit behind closed doors, have at it. But where’s the diplomatic temperament? She responded like a petulant college football coach getting grilled for his playcalling after his team’s fifth loss in a row.

Erm, I don’t really understand some of you folks. Her reaction was more than justified. If I was at work fielding questions and someone asked me what my completely uninvolved wife thought, a significant “WTF?!?!” would cross my mind and, likely, my lips.
I got sick of the comments right away, so forgive me if I missed one, but did anyone bother to address the fact that the “reporter” may have simply been backward/sexist? If this had happened to dear little Sarah, you all would be in an uproar. Some consistency would certainly serve you folks. I’m all for laughing at the other side, but this transcends that.
On the other hand, this is what the administration asked for when Bill was deployed to North Korea.
Levinite on August 11, 2009 at 9:59 AM
Hillary is nothing more than an old-time Liberal who typically reacts before thinking things through. Supposedly the “smartest woman in the world”, the translated question should have had alarms clambering in her head and caused her to seriously pause and reflect.
She should have responded: “Oh, excuse me, but I may not have heard the question correctly. Did you intend to ask what my “husband” would say, or were you intending to ask what “President Obama” would say?”
For an ‘intelligent’ woman, she sure missed a golden opportunity to prove it instead of confirming otherwise.
KendraWilder on August 11, 2009 at 10:08 AM
I don’t understand her reaction. The person asked, since she was his wife, what the ex-President thinks about a situation.
The only official jobs she has had is senator and sec. of state. That’s hardly on the same plane as a President, and usually no one cares what a senator or sec. of state thinks.
Besides her husbands opinions have more importance since he’s a man. Let her worry about what pant suit to wear.

When will the Clintons go rogue? That’s the real question, she isn’t a happy camper. The Clintons have a brand, and what we are witnessing politically, domestically and foreign by Team Obama isn’t it. Has Obama managed to marginalize Hillary Clinton, I really don’t think she would stand for that…as far as Bill is concerned, he discussed the NK journalist pick up with her, before he did it. Without the Clintons and their support, this Administration would get a real WEAK rating.
I was reading trail mix Craig Crawford floating Hillary as Obama’s VP running mate in 2012….7 months in the faithful think he needs help- a political crutch. That’s not a good sign.
