Hillary snaps: I’m the secretary of state, not Bill

I saw the wire reports about this earlier and rolled my eyes at the suggestion that she’d gotten truly angry, figuring the media was overplaying it to goose the “Bill’s marginalizing Hillary!” narrative after his North Korea trip. Then I watched the video. Dude.
Odds of any future diplomatic ventures for BJ: Low.

Wow. So, this is what it takes to get members of the Obama adminstration angry? Killing and torture of innocent people in places like Iran, not so much?

Hillary should try washing her hair more than once a week
Bevan on August 11, 2009 at 12:33 PM
The bar is so low for this administration that a smart car would shear off it’s hood going under.
kirkill on August 11, 2009 at 12:34 PM
She had every right to feel insulted and incensed — BUT… she should have been far more diplomatic in expressing her frustration at such a silly, unnecessary question.
EarthToZoey on August 11, 2009 at 12:44 PM
Could she look any more unprofessional just sitting there like a toad? At least Rice sat up strait.
dingbat on August 11, 2009 at 12:46 PM
No, it is like Pelosi and “ma’am”, you should understand the question or statement before attacking.
The interpreter mistakenly stated Clinton for Obama, and the interpreter was looking at a Clinton.
Hillary was a sharp tongued, unthinking, bureaucrat, and not a diplomat, in her answer.

Sweet. Totally totally sweet.

Well you stupid cow, what did you expect after horning in Bill’s presidency? Payback is a bitch isn’t it beeee-atch?

I have to side with Hillary on this. The question was sexist, assuming it was translated correctly. In that situation, I do not begrudge her being defensive.

But maybe she is a psychic medium. After all, she did tell the audience “I am not going to channel my husband,” which intimates that she could if she wanted to. I see a management job in Hillary’s future with Dionne Warwick and the Psychic Network.

Well, the question was rather impertinent. But, on the other hand, if it weren’t for Bill, she’d just be another crooked lawyer. Perhaps it bothers her to be reminded of that…

Condy Rice always dressed well, this woman is a fashion disaster…. she needs to be on one of those makeover shows, but would likely be extreme makeover in her case…
workingforpigs on August 11, 2009 at 5:41 PM
With the bitter, insecure, arrogant, shrewish behavior of Pelosi, Boxer and Hillary on continuous display of late, I keep waiting for at least one liberal democrat woman to show an ounce of grace. Think about the secure charm of Condi Rice, or the feisty but honest charm of Sarah Palin. Are there any liberal women who don’t feel they have to use bitter reprisal, bad manners and scolding, angry words to make their point or to seure the respect of others? If there are, they aren’t on display in any high position on the left at present.

Doggone it Hillary, if only your crack Presidential Campaign team had uncovered John Edwards’ love child, YOU might be sittin’ in the Oval Office today. ‘Course since they missed that, it’s no surprise that they couldn’t, and STILL CAN’T figure out where BHO was born.

I NEVER thought I would be taking Hillary’s side but I am. Obama’s team of ‘deguellos’ cut women to their knees quicker than a Muslim sultan with a sword (guess it’s his Koranic training.) Hubbie Bill got all the publicity in his ill-advised Korean “rescue” and Barack has kinda-sorta been stepping in poo making his own foreign policy ‘faux pas’-leaving Hillary as little more than a cleaning lady with a big title.
This same team of thugs, you may have noticed, have marginalized Sarah Palin to the point where a majority of Americans believe she is a clueless bimbo.
Any woman with aspirations for anything had better wise up to the fact that Team Obama is their worst enemy.

I wonder what Bill would have done if he were in the same situation?
MichiganMatt on August 11, 2009 at 8:43 PM
You seem to be deliberately trying to give us here at Hot Air a real bad name. I don’t remember seeing you in other threads, are you a mole? A Lib come to pretend to be conservative, and hoping to prove to the world that conservatives are racist, sexist, homophobes….and all that phony rot?
Hope AP adds you to his “watch” list. We don’t need your type of scum sliming up the threads, for sure. Constructive criticism is one thing, flaming and name calling is unnecessary and out of line.

Classic…

Bill Clinton celebrated his 65th birthday in Las Vegas without her hideousness. He was cavorting around the world, grabbing at any willing (even unwilling) woman. So why was she still calling him love of her life when they are the dictionary definition of MINO: married in name only.

I apologize . I could not contain myself

While I have never been an employee of the State Department, I did work for three years in the American Embassy in Bangkok, as well as the American Consulate for five years in Milan, Italy as a DEA agent. I was in a certain sense, a diplomat working with Thai and Italian police on behalf of the US Government.
Tonight, on Hardball, Chris Matthews, not surprisingly, defended Mrs Clinton’s words as “so American”. Other apologists have said she was tired, probably upset at being upstaged by her husband and that the question was not interpreted correctly.
None of which is an excuse.
Mrs Clinton is the number one diplomat in our country. I can understand if she goes to the Congo and reads the riot act to its leaders over their corruption or about the rapes that are rampant in that country. But to read the riot act to a university student because she thought he wasn’t showing her the proper respect is inexcusable, Chris Matthews might think that her reaction was “so American”, but the problem was she was not in America. She was in the Congo, and she spoke in an arrogant and disrespectful manner to a university student who was asking her an honest question. Had she reacted in this manner in America, it would be one thing. That she did so in another country to a citizen of that country was a painful reminder of the old refrain about “the Ugly American”.
We have known for years that Hillary Clinton is a vainglorious, arrogant person, whom no one dares to cross swords with. Now the people of the Congo have seen it for themselves. Her words, her facial expressions, and her body language were all disrespectful.
For a secretary of state to go to another country and talk to its citizens, especially a college student, in this manner is inexcusable.
Hillary Clinton has no business being Secretary of State. She has embarrassed her country with a unique display of how not to be a diplomat. She should make a public apology for her actions. In addition, she should resign or be fired.

Good to see Hillary slam down Mr. Bill.
I hope she apologized to the questioner, however.

Touché! Doesn’t invalidate my point, though.
