What drives the economy?---Oil! cheap, dependable supply of oil. Why do we refuse to develop OUR oil? Answer; Democrats. Why do we advocate developing something (renewable energy) that the private sector finds commercially unworthy? Democrats. Who has quadrupled our debt and now promises to add another trillion or two to the deficit? Democrats. Who has helped them? Republicans! Let's clean house in 2010 and send them all packing.

Individualistic socieites that use guilt will always have to contend with a decent percentage of self-haters, but the key is to never let them be taken seriously. Unfortunately, our society has gone soft and allowed these idiots to be treated as normal human beings. The result is the catastrophe that we see.

Some disagreement here, for a change.

I think that it was a combination of softness and a simple reaction to a bad economy that swept the Dems into office. The voters find anger much easier than they do altruism.

When they kill the US economy - the economic engine of the world - they have no idea of the hell they are about to unleash on everyone.

progressoverpeace on August 10, 2009 at 5:37 PM

Ha Ha some more quibbles from your faithful servant.

Nature, matter, culture and economic activity abhor a vacuum. The USA will become a third world country in terms of production and eventually income. This started decades ago. Who supports this country and holds its debt? Who (what region) has the fastest growth rates? And guess who will move past us like a 375 horsepower Kia passing a Prius?

I can see your point on one thing. We are due for a fall.

Like the results achieved when we put the poor in houses they couldn't afford, or jobs at incomes they did not deserve, The One's programs will inevitably lead to waste, dissolution and finally, destruction.

France and Chicago are much closer to Kenya in terms of work ethic and entitlement than they are to Asia or even the USA of past decades. However, my point is that the world economy will move on, as it did when the magnificent British Empire and Europe declined.

Someone else, not the USA, will lead.

So will ObamaCare, Porkulus, the coming tax increases (the ones not including Crap & Tax).

I think its safe to say that the Obamanistas are killing jobs and the economy.

The question is, why?

The graph reflects the real world experience of Spain during 2003-8. A study by University of Madrid concluded 2.2 jobs were lost for every "green" job created.

Many of the green jobs to construct wind farms and the like came and went, there is no on-going construction work to fill the void once the programs are complete.

The higher cost of energy and efforts to choke off emissions drove businesses under outright or because the work relocated from Spain. There was no alternative employment in some trades, and exports fell because it cost more to do business in Spain than in other countries, so Spanish products cost more (why do you think the Chinese and Indians are so enthused about the US adopting Crap+Tax?).

Outside of the global warming hoax, there is the "green" jobs hoax. Both of these are being played to give socialists like Pelosi and Obama more control over industry, which translates to reelection funds and other "contributions" in exchange for favors the poltical class can sell. Just like the drug companies are helping to promote Obamacare as damage control.

Be mindful that Obama et. al. will not suffer a whit due to the mess they create. The suffering is for the shlubs to do, the clingy types.

#1- Lets be generous and say the benefit is 0.2 degree centigrade. I bet that entire benefit would be achieved by one or two massive volcano eruptions, which will come in due time, as they always do, and best of all free of charge.

#2-The greatest number of job openings are currently in Washington DC, building the massive bureaucracy. Cap and Trade will create more bureaucracy so instead of complaining, I'm opening up a new business: RED TAPE Corp. All the new environemental paperwork you'll need to buy and sell a home for just $500.

Just tell any athlete that his CO2 output is going to be capped and think about what that means.

As someone pointed out in an earlier thread on this topic, it is the Marxman-Whackey Bill.

I understand the socialist model and I appreciate the post on it. But “removing inequity between citizens by bringing down all men to the lowest common denominator” seems like a goal set up by a group of people who don’t believe they will bear the brunt of it. I think THEY think they will be immune to the “rearrangement” of things.

keebs on August 10, 2009 at 5:35 PM

Of course, the ruling class is exempt. It was that way during the revolution in Russia. It was that way in every communist nation. And in every heavily socialist nation today, there is an elite class - not of business owners, but of intellectuals and party apparatchiks. Obama and his minions would, in a socialist system, be those party apparatchiks with their dachas in the countryside.

We see this hypocrisy with wealthy liberals, and we see this hypocrisy with the liberal politicians who have chosen to not take part in the Peoples Healthcare System. They are the elites, the party apparatchiks. In Soviet Russia, the party bosses and their hangers-on got a level of care, not to mention food, that was at a much higher level than that of the People they claimed to be championing.

So, yes, in a socialist system, the rulers are not sacrificing anything of themselves. What they get out of it personally, is not only the intellectual satisfaction of removing inequity between citizens, but also the power that comes from placing 99.99% of the population on the same strata. The inequity between themselves and the citizenry, is for the purpose of maintaining power and control for the benefit of the working class itself, therefore there is no social injustice in that inequity.

And in every heavily socialist nation today, there is an elite class – not of business owners, but of intellectuals and party apparatchiks. Obama and his minions would, in a socialist system, be those party apparatchiks with their dachas in the countryside.

And the unions are Obama's biggest supporters - Obama is like a vampire.
Promise eternal life as he drains your blood. The unions are idiots for supporting the socialists. The socialists will drive business of-shore....
So what if you work at GM - no economy means no one is buying....
Suckers - reap what you sow....

As overwhelming as all of Obozo's tyrannical programs are, and with the current Health Care fight front and center, it would be understandable if this issue has faded somewhat with the American people. We can't let that happen. It would be entirely predictable if POTUS,Pelosi and Reid got Cap & Tax rammed through this year while all of us mobsters are busy "terrorizing" congressmen over health care reform. Stay informed and alert! Top Of Mind Awareness is critical!

basically, it will send the rest of our manufacturing jobs and factories to China and Mexico, so we will then be 100% dependent upon trade from those nations

Actually, not so much. Since world production depends on teh ability to export to the US, once the US economic engine seizes, the whole world economy is going to shut down. There will be economic contraction and massive layoffs all over the world. It is going to be so ugly that people have not even an inkling.

And the dollar will be destroyed, which will make world trade all but impossible, anyway.

When they kill the US economy - the economic engine of the world - they have no idea of the hell they are about to unleash on everyone.
