Video: C-SPAN caller blasts media; Update: New Astroturfing signs for Obamabots

posted at 11:30 am on August 9, 2009 by Ed Morrissey

I’d say this explains the eruption of anger at town-hall meetings fairly clearly. “Leah” from New Hampshire says she “just wants to clarify a few things about these manufactured angered crowds,” but instead delivers a manifesto that explains the rise of the Tea Party movement in general. Politico reporter Manu Raju and C-SPAN’s Washington Journal host Rob Harrell get an earful and an education:

The anger comes from the blatant disregard of even the pretense of legitimate governance. Elected representatives from Congress openly admit they’re not reading the bills, while leadership in both chambers try to ram through complicated bills without giving anyone a real chance to learn what they say and what they do. It doesn’t help that the bills in question — health care reform and cap-and-trade — are both elitist policies that essentially puts Washington in charge of decisions that people should make on their own. Put all that together, and the only surprise should be that the anger took this long to develop.

Besides, the GOP isn’t the outfit sending out these missives:

I wanted to send you an urgent invitation to an important town hall with Rep. Hank Johnson on Monday evening (August 10th). He’ll be talking to constituents and gathering feedback — this is an ideal opportunity to make sure your support for health insurance reform is seen and heard at exactly the right time.

Our congressional representatives are back home this month, and they’re facing more and more pressure from special interests on health insurance reform. It’s critical that we get out there and show them where we stand.

I hope you can join us.

What: Health Care Town Hall with
Rep. Hank Johnson

Where: Georgia Perimeter College
555 North Indian Creek Drive
Clarkston, GA 30021

When: Monday, August 10th
7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

RSVP

Our representatives are under attack by Washington insiders, insurance companies, and well-financed special interests who don’t go a day without spreading lies and stirring up fear. We need to show that we’re sick and tired of it, and that we’re ready for real change, this year.

Please try to arrive early to the town hall, and make sure that the most powerful voices in this debate are those calling for real reform, not angrily clamoring for the status quo.

RSVP here:

http://ga.barackobama.com/ClarkstonTH

Thanks,

Lee

Lee Goodall
Georgia State Director
Organizing for America

P.S. — Before the event, please print off a flyer to display and make sure that your support is visible.

This is the flyer, which is the same as the one OfA — a DNC-run organization — sent out earlier this week (h/t Geoff A):

Update: Geoff RSVP’d for the meeting, and got a new Astroturf sign to bring:

This is the new message, of course — that ObamaCare is nothing more than “health insurance reform,” a rebranding made necessary by the eruption of opposition to ObamaCare.  Now the Democrats want to demonize the health insurers, and this is just the latest transparent attempt.  This is blatant Astroturfing.

Even the attitude of these two guys in the video is maddening and their non reaction to Leah on the phone. This is what pisses people off more than anything. This isn’t a Democrat/Republican thing anymore. It is a Libery vs. Tyranny thing now. People hate liars and the liars in DC are fomenting anger more than any other time I have ever seen in my lifetime.

I can’t stand these people. I don’t know why people opt for socialism in this country. Yes I understand it was pounded into their stupid brains in schools, their retarded hippy parents, corrupt officials, subversives brainwashing at every turn. I faced these people too and yet I think for myself and still believe individual freedom and personal responsibility is the way to go.

These are people I don’t want to know. I’m beginning to think that because they are such useless lemmings maybe they deserve the logans run solution they desire.

Isn’t length of patents a big item for drug companies too? The socialists could probably get them on board pretty easily by promising to extend periods of exclusivity for drugs they have developed. I think the Democrats have previously been trying to shorten these time tables for no generics, but a reversal on it would be an easy way to buy off drug companies.

It won’t do any good to show up at that one. Becuase zerobama has decided to go he’s allowed to tightly screen who comes in using the secret service. You think any dissenters are going to be allowed in there, and if they get in there they’re going to be allowed to breathe once they’re dragged out?

But, good luck to you if you go. When you dissent, be as nice and respectful as you can muster, else you’ll be painted as a terrorist.

Some day very soon – VERY soon – someone’s not going to make it out of the room.
This set of “leaders” is the most tyrannical bunch of gangsters since the Wilson or the Roosevelt administrations to assume power in America, and they are going to ram their agenda down our throats no matter how many of us they have to murder in the process. Indeed, the parallels between contemporary America and 1930′s Germany are so many and so alarming that anyone who isn’t practicing his marksmanship needs some serious help. The time is coming people, when we are all going to have to decide what price we as citizens are willing to pay for our freedom so dearly purchased by those who came before us. Our history is crowded with hundreds of thousands who’ve gladly laid their lives and their fortunes on the altar to get us here. We celebrate them and pay homage to them at every turn. And now its up to us!
To paraphrase a far better writer than I:
“Fellow-citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this generation will be remembered in spite of ourselves. No personal significance or insignificance can spare one or another of us. The fiery trial through which we pass will light us down, in honor or dishonor, to the latest generation. We say we are for freedom. The world will not forget that we say this. We know how to save freedom. The world knows we do know how to save it. We – even we here – hold the power and bear the responsibility. In preserving freedom in America, we preserve the promise of freedom to the world – honorable alike in what we preserve and what we proffer. We shall nobly save or meanly lose the last best hope of Earth.”

Time to decide!

Lew on August 9, 2009 at 12:16 PM

Challenging and eventually replacing our Congressmen is necessary, but let’s not forget the head of the snake: George Soros.

Many people may not have noticed this, but he holds title to the Democrat party, bought and paid for. Perhaps some of us should watch what he is doing, and getting in his way, impairing and ultimately stopping his agenda of world domination through socialism!

Any takers?

Keemo, I wont be able to make Bozeman, but I am sending friends. I will be checking this out at the fair in Billings, they said they have a place set up, so I will definitely sign up!

Thanks for the info!

PS: You can count on two votes out of this house against Tester!

Preaching to the choir I know but he has never been a leader. He isn’t even an effective follower so now he finds himself eyeball deep in alligators and doesn’t even consider getting out of the water. He deserves all the bites that are occurring.

I am so glad we moved out of the Metroplex! Last summer when the gas prices got about $4, we were sweating it though. We were spending $1100/month on gas. My husband’s job was in downtown Dallas, 80 miles from out driveway. We are just doing our part though, making as huge of a carbon footprint as possible:)

A large group of us “construction workers” are taking the day off to attend this event so that we can help to provide protection for our citizens.

Ah, our own secret service! Wonder if the freedom riders will do it also?

I wonder what most policemen, other law enforcement men and women, and military are thinking as they begin to see innocent, mostly older Americans being insulted, assaulted, and battered for exercising their god-given rights as enshrined in the Constitution to free speech and assembly and petition. I wonder what the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is thinking.

Surly we can boycott SEIU places of business … They can join the layoffs like the rest of us.

The state run media is a scam all to itself in America. It’s failing nicely, just too slow.

We have a few undeveloped acres south of Lubbock. Go to ground area if need be. I’m here because of work. Old fashioned American with one nostril, and one nostril only, above water.

I think the most interesting point is the total lack of irony in these O of A requests. They point to others shamelessly “astroturfing” in their own requests to show up. I guess they think it’s okay for them to do it, because the are right, or something.

Wow, that sent chills down my spine. (in a very positive way)

Hank Johnson is my Rep. and I plan to attend his meeting tomorrow. However, I was told, there will be some muslim group there to keep the “racists” out, (whatever that means). This is Cynthia McKinney’s old district, so I’m not surprised. The district is 70% hope and change. But I can’t believe they would risk creating a confrontation that the MSM would be forced to cover.

The sleeping giant is no longer snoozing…

American’s are uniting across this great nation. How stupid are these acts by union thugs. They all will go down with the Obama ship; John Tester and Max Baucus included.

Time for unions to go bye bye.
Time for CBS, NBC, ABC to go bye bye.
Time for tort reform, and an end to trial lawyer’s reign.
A thorough clean-up of the trash that has polluted our land.
