Quotes of the day

“So, let me explain what reform will mean for you. And let me start by dispelling the outlandish rumors that reform will promote euthanasia, cut Medicaid, or bring about a government takeover of health care. That’s simply not true. This isn’t about putting government in charge of your health insurance; it’s about putting you in charge of your health insurance. Under the reforms we seek, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.”

That’s all wonderful. Now you just let me know when those people are willing to get up off their lazy asses and actually do something other than write angry emails and make angry phone calls.
When our side starts punching the union thugs back, I’ll believe you’re on to something. Until then, we’re going to lose.
We won’t win this war by being nice. Wars are never won by being nice, and this is indeed a war. The other side understands that. Until our side grasps reality, get used to losing.

dude, yer missing the point. “our side” does not go around punching people; that’s their side. our side will, IF AND ONLY IF it becomes necessary, start using deadly force to defend themselves, their families, and their property. pray the “war” doesn’t reach that point — for the other side’s sake …

People really need to understand that fascism is leftist ideology. The argument separating Marxist socialism vs Mussolini fascism was a fight for the hearts and minds of the Left.
Modern American conservatism, which is actually classic American liberalism, concerns itself with the individuals right to live in freedom, and that a government’s legitimacy depends on it’s ability to protect that right. Fascists and communists were aligned philosophically against this.
The communists and fascists had different ideas about the supremacy of the state; nevertheless, they were two feuding branches of the same tree. To the right wing conservative, there is very little difference between them.
The modern leftist is so blind to freedom, that they see the entire political spectrum as a pendulum swing between two Statist philosophies, and conservatives as nothing more than a fringe element.
Saltysam on August 9, 2009 at 1:47 AM
Obama is having his way (for now), but to really ensure it goes all the way, he’s got to make it less obvious to the “masses”. His idea of keeping us from figuring it out is to issue ridiculous denials.
It doesn’t take a genius to follow instructions. But it takes a real mensch to solve problems.
stonemeister on August 9, 2009 at 1:48 AM
Indeed. They are basically the same show just under a different tent.
semloh on August 9, 2009 at 1:50 AM
Yes, it’s the easy way out… but then again it doesn’t establish a very solid foundation.
We can look back at the founders of the American Conservative Movement (starting with some of our Founders), and we realize we have been given a rich history to learn from.
Upstater85 on August 9, 2009 at 1:50 AM
You are right, Obama has not yet failed. For him to fail, at least two things must happen:
1) The polling for Democrats in Congress must drop so far that they stop advancing Obama’s agenda; and
2) The polling for Obama must drop so far that the MSM stops serving as his personal shield and propaganda machine.
For those poll numbers to drop, we must be smart, well organized, and clearly and honestly speak to the questions, concerns and fears of the American public. It’s difficult to be smart and well organized when one is filled with anger, as Obama and his minions portray us and attempt to make us by their incitements against us.
So, I suggest we discharge our anger safely in private, then invest the energy from that anger in advancing our cause peacefully and responsibly as patriotic Americans who have faith in the ultimate victory of Truth over lies and America n values over the anti-American agenda being pushed upon us.

TMK on August 9, 2009 at 1:53 AM
Yep, although people keep saying Obama is a communist.
I’ll eat my crow pie if this is true, but I think he is much more leaning towards fascism.
True, as you mentioned, as far as most conservatives are concerned, the difference is negligible in the sense that the outcome is still bad; however, if Obama was such a Soviet Communist, why would he be propping up the huge corporations?
This is what the fascists did. This is what separated them from the communists. Unlike say early 1900′s Russia, America has a fairly wealthy “lower” class. It would seem that a purely communist message would fail in America; whereas the “friendlier,” middle-class directed, smiley face, corporate fascism might just let Obama put his foot in the door.

I wasn’t born to walk on water
I wasn’t born to sack and slaughter
But on my soul, I wasn’t born
To stoop and knuckle under
A man can learn to steal some thunder
A man can learn to work some wonder
And when the guantlet’s down,
It’s time to rise and climb the sky
And soon the moon will smoulder
And the winds will drive
Yes, a man grows older but his soul remains alive
All those tremulous stars still glitter
And I will survive!
Let my heart grow colder and as bitter as a falcon in the dive
There was a dream, a dying ember
There was a dream, I don’t remember
But I will resurrect that dream
Though rivers stream and hills grow steeper
For here in hell where life gets cheaper
Oh, here in hell the blood runs deeper
And when the final duel is near
I’ll lift my spear and fly
Piercing into the sky and higher
And the strong will thrive
Yes, the weak will cower while the fittest will survive
If we wait for the darkest hour
Till we spring alive
Then with claws of fire, we will devour like a falcon in the dive!

Obama’s base is a bunch of self-absorbed losers, with their hand perpetually out.

This is the point in the conversation when your Jon Stewart educated leftist friend interjects that we have no right to compare Obama to the infamous RACIST Fascists of past.
We went to Europe in WWII to fight totalitarian fascists (even though we weren’t doing so much better on the homefront). We didn’t go to free people from concentration camps or to denounce the Nuremberg Laws.
Yes, these things were horrible and hideous, but we discount WWII by thinking that this was the reason we fought. We fought for liberty (even if we weren’t so free ourselves).

Have you attended any protests in your area? How many of your neighbors attended with you? Did you attend a Tea Party on the 4th of July, or were you BBQing and drinking beers by the swimming pool?
Your answer may be that you did, but what do you think the percentage would be out of HotAir readers? I’ve been organizing protests for the last two years, and I can tell you that I, along with many others, have busted our asses putting together protests on issues such as amnesty, Tea Parties, and now Healthcare. The sad reality is that 99% of HotAir readers and conservatives in general feel that they are doing their part by sending off a few angry emails to representatives who never bother to even read them.
Although the initial Tea Party protests were a big hit and got everyone real excited, the second round of protests which were held on the 4th of July were relatively a bust as far as numbers. Conservatives couldn’t pull themselves away from the BBQ for just a couple of hours. I actually had a HotAir reader scold me for suggesting that she should give up her one day of the year that she gets to spend with her family. Sadly, she was too stupid, or too lazy, to understand that it was something her entire family could (and should) be doing together, as a group. Its two hours! What? You can’t go to a Tea Party for two hours and then go celebrate INDEPENDENCE DAY after taking part in the very process the holiday represents? It seriously boggles the mind.
Do you really think that’s going to be enough to defeat people like Obama, Axelrod, Emanuel, ACORN, the Black Panthers, and SEIU? Do you really think your grandma is going to stop them by standing in a townhall meeting and telling them how angry she is, while all of her children and grandchildren are out playing soccer?
Those who are on the other side are not simply writing letters. They are going to war, whether you’re ready for it or not. How many times will we see Kenneth Gladneys getting beat up by thugs before all the people who “have them surrounded” decide to fight back? Do you think those thugs really care that they got arrested? If they lose their jobs, how long do you think it will be before they’re given a new job by socialist groups who consider them heroes?
You see? The other side works as a group. They work together. They back each other up. They defend each other. They have huge and powerful organizations such as the ACLU, ACORN, and all of George Soros’ groups and they all work as one.
Meanwhile, we all write about how angry we are. We stand in townhall meetings and ask questions. We call our representatives who don’t give a rat’s ass, and we tell them we’re really really mad.
Conservatives are scared to put a sign on their lawn for fear of retaliation. Conservatives are scared to let their neighbors know they support Prop 8, or that they’re against amnesty, for fear that they’ll be labeled bigots.
We shake in our boots.
Good luck with all that.
Anyone who disagrees with me, should first ask themselves if it’s really true that they could not have possibly found a way to attend any of the numerous protests that have taken place in the last year. Is it really because there was absolutely no way? Or is it because you didn’t want to be seen by your neighbors or coworkers and thought of as a radical? Or, even worse, was it because it’s just not as important as American Idol, a soccer game, or trip to Six Flags?
Now imagine if the Founders and those who fought the Revolutionary War felt the same way. Imagine if they simply mailed off some really angry letters to the King of England. Imagine if all the men decided that writing letters would be much more effective, and much more proper than standing up and fighting.
Where are all the men today? When conservatives had the SEIU thugs outnumbered 6 to 1 at the St. Louis townhall meeting, what were all those conservative “men” doing as they watched a couple of thugs beat down Kenneth Gladney?
Yeah. That’s just it. They were watching.
Grow some balls people. We “have them surrounded.” So why are we standing around and watching while one of ours is getting beaten by a couple of thugs?
It’s truly embarrassing.

I believe he’s overplayed his hand by specifically rushing to “transform” America.
I wouldn’t call Obama’s base to be exactly the classical definition of brownshirts. That said, Obama didn’t do this alone. Turn your attention to NY or CA. Although I agree with a lot of the content in your last thread, what are we supposed to do? Start knocking on the doors of the SEIU thugs? Threaten them? Light up some Molotov Cocktails?
First, there are some moral issues here; but if you want to win over the hearts and minds of the American Idol booboisie, your going to have to make sure that there is no “scary” video of cons beating up poor helpless community organizers showing on the MSM.
Upstater85 on August 9, 2009 at 2:22 AM
To equate what these clown acts have pulled off, with fascist tactics, is giving too much credit to the clown acts.
If the Nazis had the propaganda machine the Democrats had in the MSM, why would they have needed Ernst Rohm?
They got their idol into office.
But when the rubber hits the road, they don’t have the minions to do anything approaching what the Nazis did or even the Italians.
Because the organization and the muscle that would be needed to pull it off, just won’t do it.
Obama or the Democrat Governors can issue all of the orders they want – they won’t be followed by our police or our military.
So in the end, the best they’ll get is legislation and laws that will be ignored because they are stupid. Won’t be the first time in this country, that’s happened.
NoDonkey on August 9, 2009 at 2:23 AM
So, let me get this straight. They punch you, and you say … “I’m not going to fight back, until it’s necessary?”
Is that what you teach your children?
Hey Johnny. If some guy punches you at school, I want you to just stand there and let him punch you, unless it’s really really necessary to defend yourself. DOH!
I swear, we’ve become the sissies and they’ve become the men. Things have completely reversed. Welcome to France.
Maybe your father didn’t teach you this when you were a child, but the reality is still the same. Bullies will grow more bold and continue to see how far they can push you, until such time that you stand up and let them know you’ll fight back.
I’m disgusted. I truly am. How many men on this blog right now, would have stood there and watched as Kenneth Gladney was beaten down, if it had been their buddy being attacked in a bar or restaurant? How many would have jumped on the assholes and put a stop to it?
FIGHT BACK YOU BIG SISSIES!

Interestingly, Mussolini was not a racist, but Hitler was. Il Duce’s fascism was an inclusive national socialism. The Jon Stewart drones of the world think fascism means racism. The Leftists that know their history distort this fact on purpose, since Hitler sunk fascism’s cosmopolitan appeal.

Why all the talk?? I thought he didn’t deem it necessary to continue a conversation about this health-care bill. Oh, that was 3 days ago. Never mind. And, Poison Pelosi said that they had enough votes a week and a half ago. You can set your watch by the lies that spew out of this administration.
betsyz on August 9, 2009 at 2:35 AM
I agree with you, but it was truly short sighted to have the next protest on the 4th.
Symbolically, it’s great, but strategically naive. Noone would be watching television, reading the internet, or driving by city hall, for one. And secondly, people get together with their family and friends during this time, because they all have the same days off.
Only conservatives would be so naive to organize protests on a holiday.
Geesh!
Saltysam on August 9, 2009 at 2:35 AM
Catch-22
Conservatives tend to be the ones the most enjoy this holiday. They are living the American dream by not doing anything but cooking up some franks and going to the cottage. That said, we expect them to defend the reason for the holiday…
Upstater85 on August 9, 2009 at 2:40 AM
It’s “off the table?” Really? Are you sure? Last I checked, Obama still has three years left of his first term. Maybe you haven’t been paying attention to how these bills work. They pull stuff out in order to pass it, and then sneak it into a different bill later on.
I think you’re prematurely ejaculating. You’ve still got three years to go.
See above. Relax. Don’t do it.
Haha! Do you really think Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Boxer, Murtha, Dodd, Frank, Axelrod, Emanuel and the rest of them care if the American people are playing along?
Funny stuff.
Gregor on August 9, 2009 at 2:41 AM
The Dems own Congress…and Obama owns the White House…so, one does really have to ask, why hasn’t this health care bill health insurance bill Obamacare whatever already passed the House and Senate and have been signed into law?
And why does Obama need to be on TV every day…to include weekends, trying to sell us on his “plan?”
If it was so darn great and wonderful, such a spectacular piece of legislation, such a damn wonderful idea…shoulda sailed right through Congress months ago, well, weeks, at least?
They are off their game…they have shown weakness….so, let’s take advantage of that weakness and drive through the chaff and get this thing killed before it ever has a chance to make it to the Oval Office.
coldwarrior on August 9, 2009 at 2:43 AM
we’ll get to find out if the current mules are just arrogant like the ’93 donks or if they are evil as we fear….
it is not a hard sell to believe they’ll game every election they can in ’10 let alone ’12….
if that happens so obviously nobody can ignore it other options open up.

dude; projection is an ugly thing …
at the rate he’s going he has a little over a YEAR before the makeup of congress changes, not 3. I’m dimly aware of how the legislative process works and he’s moving farther away from his objectives, not closer at the moment. I’d suggest u stop straining your shoulder patting yerself on the back and go back to beefing up attendance at yer vaunted local meetings to mobilize if yer so convinced all is lost …

That’s only because that turd was flushed eight years ago. You don’t think about last week’s sewage load.
You are giving this clown too much credit. He’s an idiot.
Now if you want to get serious and discuss the powers behind the sock puppet in the Oval Office, that’s different.

This has already been happening for the last couple of years. If you were paying attention to any of the amnesty protests, you would know this. Seniors have been beat up, punched in the face, and knocked to the ground. And the conservatives “surrounding them” sit and watch, scared out of their socks.
Ask Michelle Malkin. Ask Zombietime. Ask those of us who have spent the last two years attempting to get cops to protect us. Michelle’s seen it.

why gee lift and arm and you’re racist….
health care townhalls have little wiggle room for Chris Tingle and friends to play the race card….they’l try was counting on it really but at the end of the day in throwing the card they cheapen its use….

While I support the tea parties, etc., I hate protests. Part of what makes me conservative.
I get enough marching and forced comradeship during my time in the military.
But if I saw an unarmed man or woman being unfairly assaulted, I would mix it up and I’ve done it before (on the streets of St. Louis, no less).
Although that was before the wife and children. I think most conservatives have a lot more to lose than most liberals, during these protests.

Then what?
The MSM will put out the video of the weakest union member being assaulted by the scariest conservative.
Doesn’t matter what else happened, that’s what they are going to show.
Just like the “anti-war” rallies. I was there in DC, the media showed the .05% of the crowd who were grannies and grampas and who looked like normal people.
You didn’t get to see the anarchists and the communists, holding the black and red flags, unless you went somewhere other than the MSM.
The Democrats are shooting themselves in the foot pretty well right now, the last thing we need is to hand these clowns a present.

I don’t have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It’s a depression. Everybody’s out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel’s work, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there’s nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there’s no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV’s while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that’s the way it’s supposed to be. We know things are bad – worse than bad. They’re crazy. It’s like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don’t go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, ‘Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won’t say anything. Just leave us alone.’ Well, I’m not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don’t want you to protest. I don’t want you to riot – I don’t want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn’t know what to tell you to write. I don’t know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you’ve got to get mad.
You’ve got to say, ‘I’m a HUMAN BEING, Goddamnit! My life has VALUE!’ So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, ‘I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!’ I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell – ‘I’m as mad as hell and I’m not going to take this anymore!’ Things have got to change. But first, you’ve gotta get mad!… You’ve got to say, ‘I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!’ Then we’ll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it:
“I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!”
Loxodonta on August 9, 2009 at 3:17 AM
Sad, isn’t it?
And yet, the gays will go to war long before most conservative men. Look at how fast the conservative business owners ran for their friggin lives, apologizing to the gay community or actually donating to the gay cause when they were attacked for donating and supporting Prop 8. They’re cowards! They don’t stand up for what they believe. They run for cover.
I had a Yes on Prop 8 sign on my lawn, along with eleven of my neighbors. Several of those neighbors had their houses vandalized, cars keyed, and trees hit with toilet paper. Three of the neighbors pulled their signs out of fear.
This was in September and October. On Christmas morning, almost two full months after the election and after the signs were long gone, the windows to the cars in front of all seven of the remaining houses were shattered. Apparently, homosexuals had actually gone down the streets and written down the addresses of houses which had the signs. They then waited until Christmas morning to retaliate for our political stances.
Do I give a rat’s ass? Absolutely not. I’ll put the sign back up, bigger and louder next time. I’m not about to allow a bunch of thugs to intimidate me into giving up. In fact, I tend to react the opposite of what they’re hoping for. If someone attempts to intimidate me into a specific action, I can guarantee that I’m going to do the opposite action.
The problem is that the gays are more passionate than us. They stand up and fight for what they believe in.
This is why they win. This is why we lose.
This is why we have homosexual textbooks in California elementary schools.
This is why we have elementary schools teaching Islam while outlawing Christianity.
This is why we have SEIU thugs being allowed through the back doors and escorted to reserved seating while we stand in line outside.
This is why Kenneth Gladney gets the crap beat out of him while hundreds of fellow conservatives stand around and watch.
It’s why we lose.

I have faith that the American people will see through these jackass Democrats. They are starting to see them as we’ve seen them all along.
The last thing we need is a distraction from this health care fiasco and debacle. If they weren’t godless heathen, they would be praying for violence at these demonstrations.

Don’t get mad; get even.

The day wasn’t wrong, but the locations were wrong. Most conservative organizers insist on locations such as City Hall or various offices of representatives. They don’t get it. They don’t get that those representatives simply don’t care. They simply close their windows and ignore them.
The last protest I organized was along the busiest stretch of highway in the area. I did this because the idea is to be seen by citizens and to avoid the need to have the media report our event. We knew they would not report on it, and any report they did do would be manipulated.
The protest was extremely successful and it was almost impossible for residents of the city to be unaware of the protest unless they were locked inside their houses all day. People saw the huge crowd along both sides of a major highway, stretching for several miles, and they told their neighbors and friends about it.
Keep in mind that this is how liberal, socialist, and communist groups plan their protests and it’s extremely effective. Again, it’s why they win.
Liberal groups simply march down the middle of the street. They own the entire neighborhood. They take it over. They block streets. They take over parks.
That’s exactly why the 4th of July was the PERFECT day to have the protest, IF we were talking about a group of people who actually cared about what the day represents. I truly think people don’t even think about it. It’s just a day to light fireworks and drink beer.
So you tell me what better way to celebrate Independence Day than having entire families get together from 10am to 12 noon to line a ten-mile length of each town’s busiest section of traffic, all celebrating what this country was founded on? And then, at 12 noon, everyone goes off and spends the next ten to twelve hours celebrating that they just took an active part in upholding those principles.
Naw …
It’s just not that important, is it?
