Quotes of the day

“So, let me explain what reform will mean for you. And let me start by dispelling the outlandish rumors that reform will promote euthanasia, cut Medicaid, or bring about a government takeover of health care. That’s simply not true. This isn’t about putting government in charge of your health insurance; it’s about putting you in charge of your health insurance. Under the reforms we seek, if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor. If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.”

Don’t know if anyone has mentioned this, but Michael Leavitt (former Sec HHS) was on Huckabe’s program.
Made good comments, but the most scary was that this bill is a trojan horse. If passed the bulk of the decisions wrt processes, coverages, prodecures, etc…the details of running a National Healthcare System will be done in the Power centers in HHS…Never See the Light of Day untill TOO LATE.
OK????? As Huck said…so the ppl are worried about what’s in the bill….they should be worried about what’s NOT in the bill.
We’ve come a long way baby. As Daschle said: make it fast, make it vague. This is how to get it done.
No matter who you are, don’t think this is being done for you. Pharma is finding out now…the rest will find out when their time comes.
There is only one goal, one final common path, single payer with all the cards in the governments hands.
everything else is distraction

Obama and those opposed to freedom want us to be divided into opposing camps. They want us to be ineffective. They want us to lose it. They want us to get mad, not even.
Instead of getting mad with one another and all those who were hoodwinked by Obama’s charms, let’s oppose Obama’s health care legislation with the facts. Let’s fight Obama with humor and use his own words against him. And let’s build a broad and effective team to win back Congress in 2010.
Hope and Change!

Disinformation. I guess it’s not disinformation if you leave out the bad parts and only keep in the fluffy lies.
Lets talk about his plan to have the government access your bank accounts at will to pay for your ‘free’ medical care.
Lets talk about how you won’t be able to buy a private plan after 2013.
The second you do, disinformation will have to come out to bury these things, otherwise the audience may just immolate him on the spot.

Talk to the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps about that. We ALWAYS have “muscle” of our own as security. The problem is that no matter how much security you have, some clown can always tackle or get off two or three punches on one of our protesters before one of our security guys can run the 25-50 feet to the incident. The point is that one of these thugs should never get off more than once punch before being tackled by the 20 conservatives standing right there. Unfortunately, most of the time they stand there holding their sign and backing up while looking for those police officers to show up. Usually, they aren’t coming until 20 minutes after the incident has finished.
I’ve had friends attacked at protests and I don’t back up and look around for a cop. I try to pull the guy off. Luckily, there’s usually at least one other person to help out, but why only one? Why not all? Why was Kenneth Gladney allowed to be kicked and punched multiple times before the thugs were stopped? Did you watch the video? You can even hear one guy next to the camera saying … “I don’t want to get involved in that.” That’s just sick. Disturbing. Coward!
The funny thing is, the few people that were defending Gladney looked to be only one brave man and a several senior citizen WOMEN! You can see several so-called conservative “men” actually standing around in the back watching, or even walking away in the parking lot.
It’s too bad all those men didn’t jumped into action instead of standing and watching as grandma went to battle.

You should really just go away if you don’t know what you’re talking about. Read my post again. The intimidation and “retaliation” came AFTER the election and had nothing to do with the result. Do you live in California? If so, or IF you did … would you put a sign in front of your house when this comes up on the ballot again next election? Will you stand on the street and voice your support against gay marriage? Probably not. Why? Because many conservatives were harassed so badly for supporting Prop 8 that they’ll avoid it next time around. That’s what the purpose of the intimidation was for. That’s why they posted the names, addresses, and even phone numbers onto the internet of those who donated to the cause. Next time around, it will be even uglier, and we’ll find out if we’re willing to stand and fight.

I considered MB4 a dear friend, even though we disagreed on some things and he occasionally hated my guts, which is odd, as I have none.
But MB4 was a real man. He had balls.
Of course, I always preferred the sweet to the bitter chocolate.
As to his OCD, my favorite quote about the dearly departed was: He took a ticking, but he keeps on licking. Or it was something like that. I can never remember words very well or their sources. ADD to it all the flora an fauna of this site, and it gets quite confusing.
In any case: Let us have a toast as is MB4 now.
May he rest in peace.
We shall never see his likes again.

Wrong. They gave up on fighting Prop 8 in court, because they realize they will not win in the U.S. Supreme Court:
Gay groups have begged Ted Olson and David Boies to drop their lawsuit so they can concentrate on winning at the polls, and the only way they can win at the polls is by intimidating conservative voters into not showing up.

We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when,
But I’m sure we’ll meet again some sunny day.
Keep smiling through, just the way you used to do,
‘Till the blue skies chase the dark clouds far away.
Now, won’t you please say “Hello” to the folks that I know,
Tell ‘em it won’t be long.
‘Cause they’d be happy to know, that when you saw me go,
I was singing this song.
We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when,
But I’m sure we’ll meet again some sunny day.

I have been pointing out since before he was elected that there was virtually no difference, almost word for word, between his platform and that of the communist party USA, so the proof on Marxisum is clear, not to mention even the CPUSA said that they are thrilled to have a presisent that will enact their long awaited agendas.
He is not happy with those who don’t approve of him, who have gained a voice and are using it, but he is prepared to ignore us, just as the New Iranian dictatorship did when people protested; to demonize conservatives who do not support him and blame them for the vilolence that those who support his plans are creating; as Chavez is well known for doing. Obama does not have a foreign supper power to blame for the problems so he is subsituting in the insurance companies and conservatives that do not agree with him. In the end he must win. It is not about healthcare, but the establishment of the foundation of socialism that he must have. Once he has that, what he has learned from Chavez and the Hondurian crise will guild him.
A side point; they paint the protestors as Nazi brown shirts, but they are the one that are playing the part. Typical liberal democrate misdirection; blame your opponent of what you are doing or have done or would do, first and often, then claim they are defending themselves.

Tune in early. He interviews several Obamacare advocates, and he does a pretty good job of getting in their grill. First was a Dem House member from CA (Sanchez). Huck read an audience question about whether she’d commit to accepting the Obama plan rather than the Congressional plan. It’s unbelievable how these Dems refuse to agree to commit. She argued, in effect, that she’s in the same position as others with their current plan. She completely ignores that employers will drop plans, leaving people with the government plan.
Huck then interviewed Obama’s longtime physician. The doctor started with the stock 47 million uninsured line, and Huck stopped him in his tracks and chopped that number into its four major categories: illegals, insurable but declining insurance, eligible for existing programs, and uninsurable. It was great. Personally, it’s the first time on TV that I’ve seen someone put the screws to an Obamacare supporter on this figure. It’s worth your time to watch to see how the doc does nothing more than try to change the subject. It was like a game of whack-a-mole.

I will never forget thinking how my dad developed a heart problem at 65 years old and received a triple bypass, was in and out of the hospital in less than a week, that if he had been covered by ObamaCare he would have died. He lived for another 18 years receiving a hip replacement and other surgeries during that time.
For every single story some tool can find on insurance companies denying coverage, there are probably hundreds where government run rationing killed patents outright by DENYING THEM CARE!
If the Democrats actually were concerned about the health of Americans, they wouldn’t be sending union thugs out to beat up Americans in the streets!
Yeah,, Obama cares so much about American’s health he’s willing to send anyone who stands in his way to the ER on a stretcher! There’s some hopenchange for ya!

So many half-truths, so many lies, so many whole cloth fabrications…Obama is a practiced master of this.
When I first heard Obama say this, I actually stopped what I was doing and turned to my oldest son and asked, “Being worried about getting insurance in your final hours seems pretty stupid. Why would Obama use that lame example?”
So…yes, it is a lame example…but Obama is trying hard to tug at the heartstrings of too many Americans who have become quite used to having government solve all their problems.
My Mom passed away a week ago Saturday. We buried her on Friday. Been one hell of a week, to say the least. But, at least we got to spend a lot of time with friends and relatives many of whom we haven’t seen in years, and marvel at a woman who had 95 years well spent.
But, even being 95, and ill for the past decade, her insurer never once balked at paying for anything. Not once. State of the art treatment, doctors of her choice, hospitals of her choice as well. Even in-home nursing and physician care in her final years. She was mentally sharp as a tack until the day she died, but physically, a wreck in her final years.
Under Obamacare she’d have been cut off years ago…too old…too infirm…and I would have stomped on the desks of any “administrator” and then the “administrators” themselves who would have tried to stop her treatment. She paid for that treatment over years and years of paying premiums on time, and having continual coverage with no breaks.
She did not wait until she was sick as hell to try to find coverage.
On the day she died, last Saturday, we opened her “final instructions packet” (something I’d highly recommend of all of us to draw up.) My mother allocated funds for all sorts of things that she knew would have to be taken care of when she died. There will be no surprises in the coming weeks and months. She expensed out everything. She planned ahead.
My Mother’s case will be dismissed as “anecdotal.” Even though she planned ahead, when she was still only middle-aged.
Obama’s mother’s case is enshrined as hard truth. Even though, given the lifestyle choices she made, there was no planning ahead. Hanging out with the cool crowd seemed more important to her, as one reads over her biography.
But people will feel pangs of sympathy and empathy, take this poor poor Obama’s Mom thing to heart…and blame the evil insurance companies for not making sure Obama’s Mom got adequate insurance and paid for it on time every time…
And they will push for Obamacare because poor Barack…lost his mother because she couldn’t get insurance. And thinking Americans, those of us who can read and digest and synthesize thought, all of us, know full well what Obama is pushing is pure bovine excrement.

Mm-Hmm. You seem to have just remembered it though.
Marcus on August 9, 2009 at 9:51 AM
I agree that it is not a takeover of your private insurance. It’s simply opening up insurance to many people now not able to participate.
Top of the list, to me, is to eliminate the hideous practice of purging after taking premiums and when people actually file a claim. That is happening. And it is dead wrong.

sven10077 on August 9, 2009 at 10:07 AM
Actually, if I remember the story correctly, Obama’s mother’s insurance company did end up paying for her care in the end. She didn’t die for a lack of medical care or medical insurance, she died because she had ovarian cancer, a particularly lethal type of cancer. The insurance company apparently believed that Stanley Dunham had waited until after she had symptoms before purchasing the insurance — symptoms she did not disclose when she filled out the application forms. That’s why they raised the pre-existing condition issue. But I think Obama has admitted that they ended up paying for her care anyway. He just didn’t like the fact that his mom had to “worry.”

My Papa, still going at 85 this year, had quintuple by-pass at the Cleveland Clinic 15 1/2 years ago. He’s blocked up again – a genetic condition, BTW, not poor lifestyle – and they’ve put in a stent (sp?). And they’re adjusting his BP meds almost every month. In the UK, mu husband’s 90 year old grandmother gets her BP meds adjusted once a year – no exceptions. In 2008, she slept the whole year away. For 2009, it’s racing heart beat and dizzy spells and lots of spills. Oy yeah, I can’t wait.
These repeated comments about his mostly absent from his life mother really make me wonder – whether she ever experienced any anxiety over her medical expenses we will never know but seeing as how she lived her life with little concern for others, I highly doubt it. It’s the effect on him of her death after a life of creating this myth around her as some sort of progressive heroine thats troubling. She abandoned him and yet he still relives the trauma of her last days? Sounds like PTSD to me. And a lot of anger and guilt. I’m thinking he actually resents having to have lived through it and in his small, mean mind thinks the rest of us should just be able to let go, too. I think he hates his mother and wants to punish the rest of us for it.
gopmom on August 9, 2009 at 10:11 AM
Have you actually read any parts of the Bill now being considered in Congress for vote after the August recess?
Do you have any idea at all as to how insurance companies operate, legally, in full view of the public?
Do you understand economics?
If a entity (in this case, government) can operate a program with unlimited funding, and no corporate taxes at the state and federal level, no limits nor obligation to the rules in which private companies must operate under law, and having most of its administrative costs readily assumed by other government entities, in direct competition with private companies who have no such advantages paid for by taxpayers…how long do you really believe that the private companies can remain in business? Pay the wages of their employees? Pay for medical care for those who hold those policies?
And, from a business end, how many employers will sacrifice hard earned dollars to pay for something for their employees that is essentially “free” for the taking because government is going to provide it to those who don’t have it?
No, Obama will not (maybe) abolish private health insurance, de jure…but de facto, private health insurance companies will contract/shrink over a very short period of time to the extent that they will not be able to pay for services that were promised their policy holders. This is spelled out clearly in the propsed legislation…once this goes into effect, yes you can keep whatcha got…but you cannot change whatcha got. Try it and you lose it. Simple as that.
The devil is in the details, and dammit, there are over 1500 pages of details thus far that most Americans have never looked at let alone read, and it seems damn few members of Congress have bothered to read as well.
For a political party that loves to take shots at people of Faith…seems they are demanding we now endorse Obamacare as purely an article of faith.
No thank you.
I’ll stick with the tried and true.

I think you hit at the hear of the matter. All of this government expansion is to relieve all of us of any worry – as if that is possible.
I’ve not been in this position yet because so many in my family are living long, healthy lives but…
On your deathbed, is/should your big worry really the cost of your care or is that just part of your overall concern for the future of the family you will leave behind. And if you’re sitting next to that bed, with someone you love and treasure and will miss terribly, do you care about money? And are you reassuring them that this is not for them to worry about? And how sad is your life if those close to you are not willing to do whatever it takes to help save your life.
Like I said, I’ve not been there yet but in my mind, financial issues pale in comparison to saving/ extending/making more comfortable the life of someone I love.
This story is just too convenient for me. And it’s very selfish.
gopmom on August 9, 2009 at 10:25 AM
As to “worry.”
Obama is pushing this Obamacare because his Mom “worried” in her final days and hours?
Is it the job of government to prevent us from worrying?
Is President Obama concerned about the worries of all Americans?
I worry about a lot of things. My kids. My country. Not being able to find the perfect wine for dinner tonite.
This is all “feelings” politics…facts mean nothing. It is “feelings” that are important. Guess we are going to need a lot more wise Latina’s in government to cover all those “feelings” and feel good solutions.

Well said. And I advise everyone to read this tome – all of it. And then ask yourself,”what did I just read and what does it have to do with providing healthcare to citizens in need?” HR 3200 is not about better providing health care services to Americans (or anyone else who can stretch a fingertip over the border). It’s about taking power ( and money) away from the people and giving it to the government. Granted, I’m only half way through it but what is most striking to me about the language of HR 3200 is that you could remove the words “healthcare” throughout the entire thing and substitute in your pet project of choice (education, environmental protection, border enforcement, national defense) and it reads the same – big government expansion that will require a lot of funding. Only very small pieces of it directly relate to healthcare and it’s practices.

I like when Obama says our current health care system is “unsustainable.”
You know what’s really, literally “unsustainable” Barry? A giant welfare state with open borders. We’re already trillions of dollars in the hole; just how many more “free” services can U.S. taxpayers provide to the millions of poor illegal aliens already living here, and the tens of millions more who will be coming in future years to get their “piece of the pie,” before we’re completely broke and our dollars are good for nothing more than wiping our butts?
If Barry wants to talk about “unsustainable” systems, then let’s talk about that.

Last summer and fall a lot of people found out how well well-sold government programs really work. Anyone retiring from government under FERS from July to the present saw almost all of their retirement disappear, thanks to the whole Fannie and Freddie crime, and everything else that followed.
I refused to enrol in FERS. It was sold as a wonderful program where you could “invest” with government help in al sorts of programs, stocks, bonds, and such…and government would manage it. And you’d get a lot more from FERS than you ever could under the old Civil Service program. or so they were promised.
I personally know several dozen former colleagues who are now, after retirement, forced to work as contractors, or try to go back to work for their old outfit, or are struggling to “find work” today because under FERS, they lost almost all of what they had spent 20-30 years building up.
My point?
ANY government program that promises everything, especially if government is working overtime to sell it to you, is a program that one really needs to walk away from…run at a sprint from…because government can’t manage their way out of a paper bag when you get down to it.
I kept my civil service retirement, as did a lot of the old hands in my old outfit. Most of the younger or new to government employees went with FERS. One old fellow ops officer said quite bluntly, at the time, if FERS is such a wonderful deal, why didn’t all of Congress and all the senior executive service employees sign up for it?
Likewise…unless all members of Congress, and Obama himself, signs on to Obamacare today…relinquishes completely their golden parachute health coverage…why should anyone else sign up for it?
coldwarrior on August 9, 2009 at 10:57 AM
In Ohio myself. Has its problems, but around here, with the exception of tenured university types up the street, most of us are pretty normal folk…we don’t have to cling to our Bibles and guns…we know our neighbors won’t try to steal them.
The price of groceries alone is well worth the move from DC for me.
coldwarrior on August 9, 2009 at 11:00 AM
It’s not about obama’s mom.
Do we want to do away with pre-existing conditions? That means insurance will cost more. It means we’ll have to force everyone to buy insurance or many people will simply wait until they need it. Maybe we should but we need honesty.
As for “you can keep your plan if you like it”, most people are covered at work. The question is “Does their employer like it?” Or does he like the govt. plan at half the cost?
Noel on August 9, 2009 at 11:08 AM
Yes, unless you wish to offer a public option. That’s my preference.
AnninCA on August 9, 2009 at 11:20 AM
I’d like to agree with that, but we are used to having peaceful disputes and transfers of power because the government has no support for overreach. But we have something new: a president encouraging people to snitch on others, demonizing opposition, and encouraging the use of thuggery to repress dissent.
All these indicate a president who will not accept the defeat of any of his policies peacefully.
Moving the census into the White House and giving ACORN a role smacks of corruption and fraud. The firing of Inspectors General who are doing their job. These are all very worrisome signs.
When else have we seen state governments — not radicals — passing Tenth Amendment sovereignty legislation to try to limit the role of the federal government?
ThereGoesTheNeighborhood on August 9, 2009 at 11:25 AM
One of the fallacies of this “debate” is that most have no clue how insurance works.
Yes, you can indeed get insurance with all sorts of medical pre-exitising conditions.
Your premiums will be higher than the bulk of those likewise insured by the same insurer, but you can indeed obtain insurance.
Too many seem to believe that everyone pays pretty much the same for ehalth insurance trhus it is unfair when somebody isd denied coverage.
If everyone healthy and not only paid the nominal premium, then the entire plan would be bankrupt in short order.
Same with drivers/car insurance. No accidents or tickets or moving violations for the past 10 years and your rates are far far cheaper than someone with the same insurer who has had three moving violations in the past year, a couple DUI’s over the past four or five years and an accident every other month. And plans vary…some have higher deductibles, others cover everything, others cover only the required state minimum.
Most people are covered at work?
Yes.
OK. Who is paying for it? A part is paid by the employee through payroll deductions. The bulk of it is paid by the employer. The employer must turn a profit. No profit, no capital re-investment, resulting in cut-backs, lay-offs and possibly bankruptcy or dissolution.
If the employer is “out of work” the employees will most certainly be out of work as well. Thus, at that point “having insurance” is less an acute need than having a job.
So, yes, as you point out, if the employer sees that it is cheaper for him to drop his health insurance plan for his employees, in order to turn that profit for capital re-investment, to expand facilities, to hire new employees, to keep his present employees…and he doesn’t have to “pay” for it…since “gubmint” will provide it…yep, he’ll drop his employee’s health coverage in a heartbeat. It makes economic sense.

I REALLY HATE THIS MOTHERF$$KER!
I apologize for being so crude, but he really is one…there’s nothing elegant about him.
luvstotango on August 9, 2009 at 11:49 AM
Obama has said his biggest mistake was not being at his mother’s side when she died. He went to Hawaii to help the family scatter the ashes over the Pacific
From a Time Magazine Article about his mother.
Yeah, he remembers how his mother worried about it in her final days? He didn’t bother to leave Chicago to be with her.
TXMomof3 on August 9, 2009 at 11:49 AM
Join the military and then you will get all of the government health care that you want.
Johan Klaus on August 9, 2009 at 11:57 AM
Just the same as those styrofoam pillars at the Altar of Obama in Denver at the Dem Convention…Obama’s mother is just another stage prop, to be brought out when needed to fill a scene.
I drove or took the train over 600 miles one way every month or so to spend time with my Mom before she passed away last week. And we all knew she was in declining health.
Obama? He had more important things to do…it is, was, and always will be, to quote Sabine Ehrenfeld, “All about the “O.”
coldwarrior on August 9, 2009 at 11:58 AM
I’m sorry to hear about you mother dying, coldwarrior. You’ve been a good son.
Prayers for you and your family.
My mother’s 82 and am on the same road.
Our country broke on our watch, so we must do everything possible, to fix it before we die.
luvstotango on August 9, 2009 at 12:10 PM
I believe that might have been when he was whipping up the resentment in the south side of Chicago. It was too important to be out there stirring the pot and playing the race card. Mother dying? Oh well, I can wait a few months until the time is convenient for me to throw her as# in the ocean.

Waited seven hours at the VA in Houston last Wednesday. Not for me, as I have Blue Cross. It was for my wife’s uncle. He finally got to see the doctor. We drove him back to Schulenburg and he received a call that they wanted to see him on Thursday. We took him back on Thursday and this time we only waited six hours. To be continued……..

I’m still trying to figure out using the link button.
I can’t wait for the summer to be over…the water and electric bills are cutting into my QVC shopping budget.

Johan Klaus on August 9, 2009 at 12:18 PM
He also said, no taxes of any kind, for anyone making under $250,000 a year. He also said, he’d cut out pork, and go line, by line on bills with pork. He also said there was no pork. So I can believe him on this one? I think not. I think most people are smarter than he, or his cronies give anyone credit for.
Take the cbo numbers. Which now put this crap at 2trillion. Yet he keeps pushing forward with a plan, that I seriously doubt he’s read, and if he has, he is compliant with it. We can’t afford it, but for Obama, that doesn’t matter. It’s getting it passed that’s the most important?
The majority of people, which includes Democrats, Independents, and Republicans, do not want this, yet they keep trying to push it thru, without regard. Why? Why not go back to the drawing board, start over, and listen to everyone’s ideas. Not just far left liberals hell bent on taking, and keeping control of this country?!
I’m sick to death of being lied to, and intimidated, and scared. I’m sure I’m not alone. However, I’m angry, and will stay angry, til this nonsense stops.

The last trip we spent time in Bavaria, the Black Forest, and spent time on both the Mosel and the Rhine rivers. I love the people and the history. I drove about 1,300 miles and was an absolute menace on the Autobahn. Men in black Audi’s still give me nightmares. I have some German family background and just feel drawn back to the country. I hope to convince my husband to visit with me some day. Maybe I can bribe him with biergartens. :o)

What’nt gonna say nuthin’ ’bout that… :-)
Isn’t there a slew of German restaurants and a few micro breweries down around Fredericksburg, and out toward New Braunfels? Seem to recall a lot of recent and not so recent Germans setting up shop around that part of Texas.
coldwarrior on August 9, 2009 at 2:17 PM
Yes, there is. There is also a little town called West. There are some OctoberFests and Sausage Festivals. I used to spend two weeks every summer with an aunt and uncle who were teachers down in New Braunfels. Fredericksburg is an awesome little town. There is a lot of pride in German heritage down ther.

The bottom line is, Obama’s plan is going to add somewhere between 40 and 50 million people into the current health provider facilities, instantly. (Remember one third of them are illegals, know that). Meanwhile, we don’t have more doctors, nurses, and facilities to handle the extra 50 million people. The end results is going to be a provider system collapse under the weight. This is a fact separate, but just as important as, how a government sponsored plan will cause the private provider health care system to collapse. This plan is just so evil. Literally the government is trying to force us to put our LIVES into the government’s hands and be subject to the whims of the idiots who run for office.
karenhasfreedom on August 9, 2009 at 5:36 PM
There will be plenty of room for you once we kick all the illegals and liberals out, come on down!
TXMomof3 on August 9, 2009 at 7:43 PM
“it’s about putting you in charge of your health insurance”
And the obvious question then is “So why are you getting involved?
What if Obama’s plane for “heath care reform” is based on our “public schools”?.
Sure you can keep your kids in “privet schools” only you will have to pay for both public AND your “privet school”.
Public schools cost more and produce less than privet schools.
DSchoen on August 9, 2009 at 7:48 PM
YOU ARE A LIAR.
You cannot guarantee that. There will be TENS OF MILLIONS that will be dumped into the “public
optionwaiting line” because you’re going to make it impossible for their employers to pay for private insurance.YOU ARE A LYING SACK OF EXCREMENT, Obama.
