Gibbs: We’re discussing health care in a way “that respects the dignity of each individual”

posted at 5:20 pm on August 7, 2009 by Allahpundit

Kudos for this one to the spin doctor in chief: The fact that he managed to get through it with a straight face after the week we’ve had, on the very day when The One told his opponents to shut up and get out of his way, is a sign of a true master PR flack at work. My only quibble with Tapper’s question and follow-up is that he wasn’t as comprehensive as he might have been. It was Pelosi who jump-started the Nazi meme with her idiotic comment about astroturfers carrying swastikas and it was lefty journo Bill Press who accused conservatives of following the Hitler playbook. And that only accounts for invective that explicitly invoked Nazism; if he broadened the question to more general accusations of racism against Republicans, he would have been there all day.

Exit question: By “taking the temperature down a bit,” does Gibbs mean having union goons stomp on people who are handing out flags?

Now I get it. Jews don’t vote GOP because they think Republicans are Nazis. If that’s true, it also explains how a majority of American Jews could have been credulous enough to believe that Obama’s election would be good for Israel.

This is ALL about Dem strategy to define conservatives negatively, any way possible. We need to keep pushing the evidence in the policies and practices of this administration and how THEY resemble that of the German Socialist Party or “NAZI PARTY”.

liberal343 on August 7, 2009 at 5:22 PM

Yeah – that’s it. It couldn’t be because most Jewish Americans are secular social liberals could it?

‘Oddly’ enough most Israeli Jews side with Republicans. I guess they prize their freedom to breathe more than to have an abortion.

And if we play the game of ‘guess what we found at a political gathering’ contest liberals still lose. I find it astonishing that liberals trot out pictures like the one you did and claim “look at what conservatives are really like!” while liberals have been going insane the last 10 years at political events doing much more egregious things. You are either naive or disingenuous.

The Democrats just can’t get their talking points right on Eric Cantor (R-VA).

It was only last year when Cantor’s name was mentioned as a possible Vice Presidential pick that the Democrats wanted everyone to know he’s a Jew. They didn’t mention the religion of any of the other potential candidates.

Now, however, they are accusing Eric Cantor, who is Jewish, of fostering Nazism in the United States.

liberal343 on August 7, 2009 at 5:22 PM

Yup. I wonder how they’ll feel, when one of Obama’s czars philosophies goes into play, if this crap bill is passed.

You know….the one where those with special needs aren’t eligible for care. Special needs covers a wide spectrum of people, from disabled veterans, to paraplegics, and quadrapalegics, to the emotionally, and mentally disabled, to those with MS, and Parksinsons. Sounds like those with any of the above afflictions won’t get care, and that constitutes those with PRE existing conditions.

Or the philosophy that because a child isn’t socialized by the age of 2, that the government should wield the power to sieze, and abort that child.

Or putting sterilizing agents, into our drinking water.

Or forcing abortions on women who don’t want them, in order to keep population under control.

Good thing people don’t see Democrats as Nazi’s. Otherwise these things would be dangerously close to being nazi like.

liberal343 on August 7, 2009 at 5:22 PM

Check out the image in top left corner of Rush’s page here. That’s the Obama healthcare movement logo.

Now what are the similarities between the Democrat Party of today and the Nazi party in Germany? Well, the Nazis were against big business. They hated big business and, of course, we all know that they were opposed to Jewish capitalism. They were insanely, irrationally against pollution. They were for two years mandatory voluntary service to Germany. They had a whole bunch of make-work projects to keep people working one of which was the Autobahn.

They were against cruelty and vivisection of animals but in the radical sense of devaluing human life, they banned smoking. They were totally against that. They were for abortion and euthanasia of the undesirables as we all know and they were for cradle-to-grave nationalized health care. I have always bristled when I hear people claim that conservatism gets close to Naziism. It is liberalism that’s the closest you can get to Naziism and socialism

You can read the sharp analysis here.

Liberals are the new National Socialist Party. Their agenda, short of genocide (so far), is EXACTLY the same. You can turn a blind eye to it, but I hope you turn back before you find them coming for you.

Q There’s a perception among liberal columnists that you failed — you’ve already failed and in selling Medicare reform. You don’t clarify your points, you’re turning the other cheek for everything the opposition is doing. And you seem very weak in your response. What I’m saying is you’re not telling –

MR. GIBBS: Is that a question. (Laughter.)

Q — you have neither clarified your point of view or sold it.

MR. GIBBS: Well, Helen –

Q And you can take one by one: on the euthanasia, on can’t pick your own doctor, can’t have your own surgery.

MR. GIBBS: Well, Helen, I don’t think there’s a start and a finish line to this argument. At least if there is, we haven’t gotten to the finish line. I think that’s why I told these gentlemen that our advice would be to continue talking to your constituents, continuing to talk to them about why it’s important that we get health care and health insurance reform, why it’s important that we deal with things that aren’t –

Q Well, why is the other side gaining so much? There’s going to be a hiatus now where they’re going to have a free reign.

MR. GIBBS: Well, Helen, I think the President’s had a pretty good week. I think if you look back — we’ll take this week.

We’ve been wrong in imagining the White House Press Corps works for Obama…apparently Mistuh Gibbs got told off by his supervisor. C’mon, Helen, they’re beating up people as much as they could without drawing a special prosecutor…

Hmmm. Don’t know about the laws up there; what I understand is that you don’t need a permit for a long gun in NY State (outside of the city). Handguns I’m not certain about.

I know that here in Bloombergia, that you need permits for both long guns and handguns (and they have to be registered with NYPD, including fingerprints). Don’t bother trying to get a handgun permit in NYC – it just won’t happen. Long gun permits require you to apply in person at NYPD in Kew Gardens; the app fee is about $140 and the fingerprint fee is another $100 or so. The permit is issued at the discretion of the PD and it can take six months or so. Essentially they make it so burdensome to apply that it’s not worth doing.

Want to support our work? We’re entirely funded by our 5 million members—no corporate contributions, no big checks from CEOs. And our tiny staff ensures that small contributions go a long way. Chip in here.

Obama plans on cutting funds from Medicare to fund research into the Gay Bomb, which he will then unleash on the heartland, turning patriotic God-loving real Americans into homos.

Why the “kkk” in republicans? I mean, the only KKK member active in national politics is a democrat?

I think someone has a projection issue…

PimFortuynsGhost on August 7, 2009 at 5:48 PM

the dems don’t seem weak in response (other than ratcheting up the violence, if that is considered weak).

the Republican leadership should step up to the plate. they are the ones who seem weak to me.

Oh, and I KNOW you would be HOWLING if Bush had suggested that people send in information on people spreading “disinformation” about Social Security privatization. Or if he’d created an email address to rat on your neighbors if they said our troops in Iraq were wasting their time.

But Obama does it, and you think the Republicans are the Nazis?

PastorJon on August 7, 2009 at 5:48 PM

the very fact that the republikkkans will even think about using that symbol itself is a little bit troubling

liberal343 on August 7, 2009 at 5:45 PM

Uh, the left has been using it for the past 9 years. Regularly. Maybe you missed lorien’s link but there are plenty of examples of liberal protestors using Nazi symbolism, including the swastika, in protesting Bush.

I’m beginning to think you lack the requisite intelligence that merits a response. I have to believe you are an idiot or simply write things to get a reaction.

gwelf on August 7, 2009 at 5:49 PM

don’t you see the swastika

liberal343 on August 7, 2009 at 5:32 PM

Yes, the one tattooed on your liberal head.

farright on August 7, 2009 at 5:49 PM

There is a very good reason why Jewish Americans vote 80% for the Dems. Tell Rush to keep it up

The It has spoken.

“Well, the Nazis were against big business.”
The Socialist government was/is big business. No competition allowed, which is likely what was referenced.

Me thinks you’re trying to bait people. LOL Good luck!

Now go back to your tinker toys.
