I don’t think Rubio would sell his principles. I do think Crist has an opportunity to ensure his future. When the ‘WON’ is finally run out of town on a rail, this country is going to make a hard right turn the likes of which would put a smile on Mr. Reagan’s face.

Rubio will sell his principles for a handful of campaign cash to whomever will put him and keep him in the next office.

Here’s a thought that I haven’t seen here yet. What if Crist has seen the light and wants off the train ride to perdition? What if Crist did name Rubio to the Senate? What would that do for the Governor’s credit with the conservatives? What might the avowed staunchly conservative Rubio be able to help his benefactor with when the GOV wants to get reelected?

So a 2 term speaker who’s terms were a disaster of lousy budgets and partisan hackery is the “obvious” choice? Give me a fraking break. Jim Davis, the likely appointee is the right choice.

He is going to walk the state like Lawton Chiles did. I think the walk starts in Miami in Jan 2010.

Gov Crist is going to name his as he thinks he can easily beat him when the time comes. I was in Tallahassee Wed the 5th and this is what is going around.

Martinez is quitting because it is what’s best for the people of Alaska.

What would motivate a sitting Congresswoman with seniority to give up her elective seat in order to baby sit the Senate seat for Crist? Now, if Crist put her in the job and told her that it was hers to run for in 2010, that would be a good thing.

Seniority means jack if you’re in the minority. She isn’t even part of the GOP leadership.

I’m still hoping that Sarah Palin will come down and campaign for Rubio. The way things are headed – Conservatives and Independents will MOTIVATED to go to the polls and vote for Conservative Warriors – something that Rubio is but Crist is not.

And besides – Crist can’t work in Washington, D.C. because it’s cold for half the year and ole Charlie likes to tan.

He had no leadership skills, and got beaten by the last Demo to be governor of Fla ( and some skillful voter fraud by the Usual Suspects ): Lawton Chiles put on a coonskin cap and said, “The he-coon walks at night” the day before the election in a tacit admission that the last remnants of the old Democrat ‘good ole boy’ machine was busy stealing votes and doing push-polls.

I disagree with you on Gov. Crist, I can’t forgive him being a Stimulus Bill whore, but I will agree with the Sen. Mack place holder. I’ll prefer Rubio but I have no problem letting the Senate race resume from a neutral territory.

Jim Smith is Gov. Charlie Crist’s likely pick to replace U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez, a key Republican source has told The Palm Beach Post.

Smith, the FSU Board of Trustees chairman, is a former state attorney general and secretary of state. He sided with Crist’s GOP opponent, Tom Gallagher, in 2008, but his son-in-law, Brian Ballard, is a close ally of Crist’s.
