AARP stands to gain quite a bit if Obamacare passes. Take for example how they stood to gain when Congress passed the Medicare bill last November.

NOTE TO LEXHAMFOX: Which party took over both Houses of Congress in 2006? (the economy tanked in 2008).

Operationally define the values laid out above and you’ll find that there aren’t exactly any proposals or strategies that follow them. The spending, the schemes, its bipartisan. This respect for freedom thats always brought up as some sort of conservative value…its not exactly best served by a blanket tax cut and calling it a day otherwise. Like it or not much of “conservative governance” has been business as usual.

So by all means, take it to the dems, win your election. But the values laid out here won’t be expressed in policy because of it. For that, well, we’d have to be past the point of simply voting the bums out ;-)

Yes, there are (proposals and strategies that follow these principals.) It’s our job as conservatives to identify the proposals that in fact, pass the tests offered by the kind of principals expressed here.

One example would be a rationally-based energy independence plan that included;
1. Drill where we own oil.
2. Put refineries close to the points of distribution (build more refineries.)
3. Nuclear energy
4. Fast-tracking alternative energy production projects (such as solar and wind.)
5. Cutting off all aid to any OPEC country that doesn’t supply us with discounted oil.

There; I quickly laid out a proposal that makes sense.

No; Speaking for myself, I think what the good Doctor was prescribing was;

1. Be a conservative.
2. Promote conservatism.
3. Organize, and act, to promote our values.

Do this, and the Republican party will have to “come along with us.”

Personally, I use the “big boat” analogy; all who want to row are welcome – grab an oar.

And, if you think the Republican party is solely responsible for “the worst economic disaster in living memory,” you need to either read more, or work on your compreshension.

Unless, of course, all of your post was untagged sarcasm.

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we have a lot of work to do. There’s an election coming up next year.
